those layers today is going to be a mild one with highs in the 50's and plenty of sun rated. all right. well, we had overnight rockslide, unfortunately, this due to the storm. >> along southbound want to one at ridgedale avenue in sausalito who's been working hard overnight trying to clear that still impacting highways this morning. now we just got an update from chp. they were trying to have this cleared by 8. now they're going to extend that till about noon. so that's going to be a problem throughout the morning commute. if you are going to be one-on-one, maybe to another alternate route, you could take the richmond. sandra fell bridge header on 80. you can still get through that. things are going to be slow there. a bridge commute about 14 minutes traveling into the city while or send it over to about. 21. remember, still slick and went out. there's take your time. richmond center fell about 12 and that golden gate bridge about 40 minutes. all right. james, back to you. >> thanks a lot. let's head to the north bay still reeling from yesterday's heavy rains and winds. there's a landslide on highway 101 in sausalito. in fact, that's where kron

four's joey horta standing by live with a look at the latest there. joe. >> good morning, guys. yeah, traffic is moving along here. it looks like next to us. but you go further down the road, it's actually backed up for about a mile and a half because of this landslide all the way from sausalito to moraine city is where the traffic is backed up and as a get out the way you can see why they're using this track scoop up all the dirt, the rocks and even trees that have fallen down into the roadway through that lens light. it's been going on since about 7 o'clock last night. all of that slid off the mountain. and the issue is, as you continue to scoop up the debris. it is causing more to fall off the side of the hill here. so the problem is is still going on this between spencer avenue in rodeo avenue. chp have highway reduced to just one lane earlier. and it's now improved to 2 lanes open at this point. so they're making some improvements here. but the roads are still slick out this morning. we did run into some

flooding along 101 south of daly city this morning in the lanes that caused us to have to hit the brakes. all this rain we got here this week. first responders reminding drivers give yourself some extra time to get to your destination. but you can see the cleanup still well underway here. they've got dump trucks out here. they're using this front end loader to scoop up the mess. but again, it's going to take some time to get this roadway. this highway fully reopen here after this mass back to right by rodale right there southbound and was sheets of rain coming down to 5 o'clock. and then that happened said not surprising. the slider. joey, thank you very much. well, let's keep it in the north bay. there's currently a flood watch in effect in several counties, including up several counties, including up and sent almost too much rain rothman is in santa rosa. >> rain turning roads slick throughout sonoma county on thursday, including in downtown santa rosa.

of crashes all around the bay. this is just one that happened in the south bay. a person was taken to the hospital when their car flipped over onto the roof of a take a pass in santa clara county. crews had to private car open just to get the victim out. we're not sure of their condition this morning. >> 5 is the time we have new details this morning about those 3 college students that died in a tesla cyber truck crash in piedmont. the alameda county sheriff's office has released the toxicology report and it reveals that the driver and 2 passengers who died. we're under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. the report also found traces of meth in the driver 19 year olds. soaring dixon, krista took ahora and jack nelson are now so died the night before thanksgiving. the cybertruck they were in jumped a curb, crashed into a tree and burst into flames. only one passenger survived. they were from all from home from college, for the holidays. all graduates of piedmont high school. as for that lone

survivor last check showed that they were still in the hospital in stable condition. family friends say that that person suffered burns before good samaritan pulled him out of that cybertruck. >> you know, 6 is the time and now we're know that little more about the shooting that happened in san jose on wednesday. the person who was shot ended up dying of their injuries. and this was wednesday in the area. farm in doubt drives not far from the silicon valley career tech education center. we know is the victim was a man he was taken to hospital where he died 806, is the time and other news that we're following. 3 council members are now stepping in to keep the fire stations open in oakland. yet despite the fact the city is dealing with a big budget shortfall proper. sara stinson takes a look at how they think it can be done. >> when the news first broke that there were 6 slated closures of fire stations in oakland due to our budget crisis. the community rally we heard from thousands of

oakland residents, petitions, rallies and now a new proposal from 3 oakland council members to keep fire stations afloat if approved, the new ordinance would reopen to shuttered fire stations. >> and prevent the closure of 4 others. fire stations. 25 28 are currently closed at least through june as a part of the city's effort to close in more than 200 million dollar budget deficit in this budget situation where we really have to take a step back and ask ourselves, what can the city do? >> and i think we all understand that public safety is at the top of that pyramid feet looked for every penny. this has been truly, truly. when this task of finding every last penny possible that could go towards building our fire stations councilmembers. janine di roma sean drugs act on ger and rebecca kaplan are proposing the city reallocate millions of dollars from 3 city funds to pay for the station's the biggest sources of funding for this. >> 2.6 million dollars that

this assault actually happened in roxy stadium, 14 theater on santa rosa avenue last summer wasn't reported this book until november, though, because of the trauma that the victim was going through. that teenage girl was watching a movie when she went to use the bathroom suspect followed her, pushing her to the ground and assaulted her. police tried to locate some evidence at the scene but were unable to identify the suspect. this sketch is what they have to go on. if you think you know who this person is, let police know. >> so >> an exclusive story. what you're seeing here is video recorded by are owned and foreign shows a man robbing a walgreens store in san francisco. dan says that he was shopping at the store when he heard employees yelling about this particular suspect. this was in the area of market street in the castro duboce triangle area. he reported that the suspect was apparently grabbing items off shelves stuffing them into his

point, we don't exactly how they got out there. but as you can see, everybody was rescued safely. animal control is helping take care of those dogs. now. great action shots. also in santa clara. look at this. we've got thursday storm causing the eu. creek in gilroy to spill over ran avenue. plus a tree in the santa cruz mountains came down just outside of cupertino here. they had to chop it all up. pg e says power outages were caused by downed trees that broke conductors and flooding in their underground vaults was also a problem at one point in the morning pg e was reporting 8,000 customers had lost power in the south bay. they were able to get that number down to 2000 by noon by basically isolating the problem in rerouting the electricity. >> what that does is isolates locations that have damage so that the rest of the community around they are able to go back online and then just a limited number of people will without power while we make a repair and restore.

that and even a oakland, almost 2 and a half inches of rainfall. most of that falling just yesterday. now today we are on a calmer, clear trend. here's your look at happening bay right now. some of you might be heading out that way for your valentine's day date plans. just to note that is going to be windy, especially going to be windy, especially along the coastline an as well up in the sierra. as you make your crossing up there. bay area, things are drying out. nothing more than a few remaining light sprinkles and nice clearing skies come the afternoon. this year is holding on to snow a little bit longer than the bay as rain. but we will be seeing some drying going on this afternoon and improve conditions as you head up that direction technically under winter storm warnings through 10:00pm tonight. as far as winds go today. well, as far as the flooding is concerned, first, we do have a flood warning just west of santa rosa in those low lying areas draining towards the russian river winds. as i mentioned, 30 mile per hour gusts at times which will make those 50's feel just a little bit

cool and a little bit brisk. so bring the light jacket with you for the valentine's day. plans today. tomorrow, lunar new year in looking great for it. with highs climbing as warm as the low 60's under sunshine. just a slim chance of maybe a morning sprinkle sunday morning. >> overnight along southbound 1, 1, at rodale avenue. and as you can see, it's almost backed up to one 31 highway there. so if you are going to be hitting the roads, i would say maybe take the richmond. sandra fell bridge along. 82 not is backed up this route this morning. and the new update is it's going to be there till about noon. they were trying to have this cleared before 08:00am and that just didn't happen too much going on there. so if you are hitting the roads this morning, know that things are still slick and wet. we're still seeing some overnight residuals from that storm yesterday at the bay bridge. look at that 12 minute ride. but still you can see the wet conditions on our highways. 17 on the san mateo bridge. finally recovery. we have a stalled out truck there. so that really slowed us down.

>> meanwhile, city leaders urging people to be really careful as they're preparing for the storm. we do have crews if they do have crews on standby. we actually spoke to the san francisco department of emergency management to see how they are ready for this storm. >> flood watch in effect through 10:00pm saturday. we're expecting 2 to 3 inches of rain in the forecast in san francisco through friday. we have a high wind warning in effect as well through tomorrow morning. we're expecting 35 to 40 mile per hour winds with gusts up to 70 miles per hour along the coast. it's very windy. >> the gusts up to 70 miles an hour now. >> so drive slowly carefully. if you don't have to go out, don't now than it was pouring yesterday. and in the east bay, there was a fire. one person died in that fire in it was during a downpour and firefighters say they were struggling to find the victim. amidst all that wet and windy weather kron four's philippe djegal explains. >> firefighters called for additional resources once they found this home on nicholas

court in brentwood on fire. >> and fully involved. i saw fire trucks and everything and iowa all. the poor guy 1000 on fire. initially the contra costa county fire protection district says the call came in just after 11 o'clock wednesday night. doesn't exterior fire from a caller on a neighboring street. >> only for crews to eventually find flames shooting out of the house. and that's >> so that justin lives across the street from the victim who has been identified by the contra costa county coroner's division. as 69 year-old james fields. justin says he was living alone after his wife recently passed away but was visiting frequently by his granddaughters. it's a set old man >> they say men nice man. kind >> kind know you. >> it was a good neighbor fire. says the fire started in

the garage and that's where the victim was found. the victim was found in unique location for the time of day. >> the crews would have made it into that it to the structure for search and the common places that someone will be found in the building. not the cause of the fire is still under investigation. assistant fire chief with mcdonald's says the constant downpour at the time complicated matters. >> he also says there were no working smoke detectors in the garage or inside the house. we train very hard to save lives. >> it's a little bit of hard hit when the stars all aligned. >> no matter what effort you put into it was a helpful man. you know, sometimes check to help me out. something else. it was a good student, person, an insurance adjuster who visited the scene believes the home is a total loss and will likely require a rebuild.

shot. take a look at this. the survey finds harris would have 57% support among registered democrats. and that is a long way over the distant second, which is former u.s. senate candidate for our county congress member katie porter, who would have 9%. but porter also hasn't said publicly whether or not she's going to run. you can see if the race were held today and these we all the candidates that nobody else would come close. plus, they're 17% of the people say they're undecided right now. so there's a long way to go at this point with nobody really saying they're in the race yet. >> i don't think this is a huge surprise. kamala harris obviously has huge name recognition in california. california is still a blue state. things will really change of. harris decided not to run. the poll found that. >> porter would have a double-digit lead. then over anybody else. and also 45% of the respondents in that case

dried out really nicely and will continue to see ever brightening skies this afternoon. still holding onto that little bit of snow in the sierra. it diminishes by midday. we do still have a winter storm warning technically in effect through 10:00pm tonight. so just do know that those inclement conditions do exist and especially driveways, places like that are very snowed in. even though plows are out there are really getting those major routes cleared out flood alerts in the bay area. we still do have flooding occurring west to santa rosa in those low-lying poor drainage areas with a flood warning through the evening tomorrow night, winds are still active, 30 to 40 mile per hour gusts today. if you do have plans that may be heading out to the coastline, driving up and down highway one do note that will be one of our windier areas today. 50's for most of our daytime highs making today. the coolest one of the weekend tomorrow will warm into the 60's for a few more spots in the bay winner new year parade tomorrow. looks great for it with all that sunshine. a very slim chance of a morning. sprinkle comes sunday, reyna.

>> this is from a actually chp tweeting out image of the accident we've been following along northbound 2.38, that connector ramp to northbound 8.80, so in the early morning hours, you can see this truck at a traffic collision and so they it shut down all the lanes and that connector ramp and they opened back up and they shut it down again. so they've been going back and forth. they're telling us that they are going to get this off of the highway. pretty soon. so that's a little bit of good news north down to 38 connector ramp to 8.80. so one lane is shut down. i was saying mission boulevard, a good option for trying to navigate around the delays that were seen in that area. also up along south whatever dale avenue still have that rockslide from overnight blocking lanes. you can see just how slow things are all the way back past or in city, almost at one. 31 the year. if you are hitting the highway, it's been a slow morning bay bridge still slick, but a 13 minute ride. so you make a
