weekend lunar new year about got all some big action movie. >> oh, yeah. captain america okay. so there's a lot to do this weekend, john. we need good weather except. >> you can see the baby on thursday to and you would have been just fine because that was our stay inside guy today. today, though, we are clearing back out so go ahead, venture out and enjoy a little time back out there, especially into tomorrow and sunday. you can see those brightening skies at sfo. definitely fairing a lot better at our airports and also our area roads compared to yesterday. we do have snow up in the sierra nevada that will be hanging out with us through the day. but we are on the downhill trend with less snow and certainly less activity for the bay. just a couple sprinkles south of morgan hill at this point. now, temperatures are fairly mild. this they've been all morning long. a lot of 50's on the map right now. get outside with the jackets on because paired with those 50's is going to be some relatively strong winds today, 30 mile per hour gusts. so a breezy cool, but importantly dry want to kick off the weekend and for your

valentine's day rina. all right, john, thank you for that. those overnight storms that we saw. >> left a rock slide here along southbound one-on-one and rodeo avenue still impacting traffic to this that this morning as you travel sausalito you to see the backup all the way to highway one. 31 here. so things have been very slow this morning, other hoping they'll get that resolved by noon. but again, it could take longer bay bridge commute this morning about 13 minutes. we're still slick out there. so take your time. 13 along the san mateo richmond, sarah fields and 8. if you are going to be hopping on the golden gate bridge is 40 minutes because of that and northbound to 38. that connector ramp to 8.80, lane is blocked as overturned truck. there. that sounds silly until things are still slow. mission boulevard might be a better option during james, back to you. thank you. let's continue our team coverage of the day after the big storm a landslide on southbound in sausalito backing up traffic for miles. joey horta there with a live look at the cleanup. joe.

>> morning, guys. we've got an update for you. i just spoke to caltrans. they say they will not have this back open at 12 o'clock today. they do not have an estimate on when this will be all cleaned up. that's what they're telling us in the last few minutes here and take a look behind me. it's just a big best are continuing to chop up trees here that have slid off side of this mountain and that tractor behind those guys. it's still scooping up dirt and the rocks and putting it into a dump truck. >> this has been going on since 7 o'clock last night were on 101 south. the lanes are 2 of the lanes here in the southbound direction are shut down. traffic is backed up for 2 miles all the way across the bridge into strawberry strawberry. that is. >> and so a lot of cleanup continues here. and one of the reasons why is because it's kind of never ending cycle has a scoop up that >> it was very significant slide. and so it's going to take a little while have a

clearer issue right now with the slide still moving as we're cleaning it up as it makes it difficult to us to forecast how much material we're going to have to move in when will ultimately be able to open it back up. >> this is between spencer avenue in rodeo avenue and the roads are still wet. we did just get a brief shower out here a minute ago and all the rain we got this week, first responders are saying if you're out there driving, give yourself extra time to get to your destination. there may be other debris out there like what we're seeing here. it may slow you down look out for that. and again, no estimated time of reopening all lanes of one-on-one here. according to caltrans in the last couple of minutes. but they say they hope they hope to have it back up and fully sometime later today. we'll see what happens. back to you. >> not good. it's hard for the community this evening coming into the city for the weekend. it's a big weekend. >> and if you're driving around yesterday, which i was, it was crazy or rain. the

wind. >> areas around sebastopol and santa rosa saw heavy rain and winds and flooding on the roadways. as you can see here, causing a lot of issues for drivers, westbound lanes of rohnert park expressway. we're closed near rancho verde circle and then most recently they had flooding that closed highway 12 in that area of fremont drive both directions there. they don't have an estimate on a reopened reopening for that roadway either. >> thank you occidental earlier and there was ater pouring down all the heroes the water. and so the road. >> and drove great it was flooded. to go through. >> we like foot of water. >> flood watch is in effect through saturday night and there were lots of accidents all around the bay. here's one of them in the south bay where a car flipped over onto its roof in this was at take a pass. and santa clara county and rescue crews pried open

the car, got the driver out. we're not sure of their condition this morning, but they went to the hospital. >> we have new details this morning about those 3 college students that died in a tesla cyber truck crash in piedmont. the alameda county sheriff's office has released the toxicology report and it shows that the driver and the 2 passengers who died were under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. and the driver apparently had traces of meth in his system. 19 year-old storm dixon, krista, to cara and jack nelson died the night before thanksgiving. the cybertruck they were in jumped a curb, crashed into a tree and burst into flames. only one passenger survived. they were all home from college for the holidays. all graduates of piedmont high school. and as for that lone survivor, the last check is that he's in the hospital in stable condition. friends and family say he suffered burns before a good samaritan pulled him out of that burning cybertruck.

>> 3 council members are stepping in to keep fire stations open in oakland while the city is navigating a budget shortfall. the council members coauthored a plan to save the fire stations. so if it's approved and the funding needed to prevent the additional closures were calm and they would be able reopen those stations that already closed temporarily stations. 25 28, they say should have been closed in the first place. it was 129 million dollar budget deficit. they're trying to deal with. and city leaders have been looking for all the available money they can possibly find in various accounts to ensure the safety of the public. >> we have daily fires, a homeless encampment. we have structural fires. we have that. we have firefighters responding to medical costs that are the front lines of medical safety for our communities. >> the oakland city council is going to discuss the ordinance at their meeting on march 4th they're encouraging the public

sure you have changed 6 inches of snow. they got there in a pretty short amount of time this morning. obviously chain controls in effect. some going big rigs are being held at the nevada state line. so a lot of things you got a factor in for going to be heading up there. chloe curtis has the latest >> drivers and sierra are gearing up for another intense day for travel. you're taking a look at eastbound i-80 here and you can see the roadway completely covered in snow. caltrans is try to co er a lot of ground today. but as you can see, so much snow has accumulated overnight and into this morning that they're having a hard time keeping up with that. this is at cisco grow. this is stop for many drivers and truck drivers that have been on the road trying to get a break in this storm. but at this point, trucks are not being allowed past applegate. they are being held during the storm based on how intense conditions have been out here. we're in a little bit of a lull right now. snow relatively light here this morning. you can take a look

and see as that snow is starting to fall here. put my hand out. it's really not too heavy. we're catching a couple pellets, not quite snowflakes yet, but a lot of snow that has a cumulative over the last several hours several roads are completely covered in snow or ice. and caltrans is trying to clear as quickly as they can. but it's big demand to keep up with during this storm. chp is asking drivers if you don't have to travel this way, do not come to this sierra. they are seeing several spinouts from drivers, evil, even traveling in the 20 to 30 mile per hour range. however, they say if for some reason you absolutely have to travel this way to bring a go bag with you have an extra pair of warm clothes, a blanket, food and water supplies and to be prepared for delays. as i said, they have swat nus a lot of crashes over the last several hours and they are urging drivers to take it slow. if you have to travel with the sierra. but

for now reporting from cisco grove, i'm curtis for kron. 4 news. it's really coming down. yeah. art. >> well, on that note, let's get over to the weather center gone. john has a look at snow >> joe summit we still do have it coming down up there with just a few more inches today. here's you're live. look right here from diamond peak. the snow really piled up those picnic benches out there on the deck. and it is just looking like a winter wonderland for sure. >> note that roadways are open, but you need a little extra time to be getting up there. the bay area saw a lot of rainfall. in fact, portions of the santa cruz mountains so well over 8 inches nearby. the guadalupe river was over 6 inches. hence why the high water levels there mount tam over 4 inches of rainfall. most of that yesterday, oakland around 2 and a half inches of rain. we're still looking at a couple sprinkles for the bay. definitely. still some light snow in the sierra, but really the bay has quieted down at this point. we've got a gorgeous day and gorgeous weekend ahead of us, clearing

skies for the bay area today. and even the sierra startseto see diminishing activity. technically, we do have a winter storm warning in effect through 10:00pm tonight up in the sierra. and as you head up there, make sure you have the chains and the extra time flood concerns still remain west of santa rosa in those low-lying drainage is towards the russian river with a flood warning in effect there saturday night. there and winds also not entirely out of the picture for us. still 20 to 30 mile per hour gusts today. if you plan to that, maybe golden gate park picnic or sub in for your valentine's day, just note is going to be breezy out there. temperature wise. we're sitting in the 50's for most of our highs today. tomorrow we'll start a trend of 60's that will really carry on for most of the rest of the forecast tomorrow. also gorgeous for the lunar new year parade. we are also seeing great weather for your nba all-star weekend. just a slim chance of a sprinkle comes sunday morning. right

>> talking about new one popped up along i-80 eastbound right at the treasure island exit. if you are on the bay bridge. so that's traveling out of the city over to the east bay. things are a little slow now because of that. some keeping a close eye on things there. not the only problem right here along 101 up here at rodale avenue in sausalito and overnight. rockslide slowing us down the trying to clear that off the highway. right now it's been taken hours to get this done so you can see that delay all the way back to highway one. 31, the northbound to 38. that connector ramp to 8.80. that's over in stanley. and a righty year truck overturned. so things have been very slow while the lanes are same mission boulevard might be a good option for you. a bridge commute about 14 minutes there. so that looks decent. remember the eastbound side? that's where that accident is at our san mateo bridge about 13 as you're traveling across towards the peninsula. darya. james, back to you. all right. thanks. a lot of to 9, 19 and in emeryville, residents

should expect traffic delays and detours and parking restrictions. >> take a look at the inconveniences that they want you to know. but just for a while, hollis street is going to be closed and it's all for a good cause. they want to improve pedestrian safety. so they're going to be doing some pavement repairs at 5 intersections and underground utility work also started ahead of the construction, which is going to begin on february 24th and some of the other upgrades that they'll be doing during this time. sidewalk extensions, bus pads and dedicated loading areas. when this is all done, this is going to be all along hollis street that you'll see these improvements happening. >> well, the california secretary of state now warning about a scam targeting small businesses. letter that requests businesses send cash or face consequences. at first glance, the document appears legitimate. but if you look closely, you'll find several important discrepancies. the use accurate information on the business type, an entity

number that information is public and easily attainable. but you'll see that the document brazenly discloses that it was sent by corporate processing service non government agency. and that the form has not been endorsed as such. >> the scam trade is basically as large as the drug trade internationally. we're not talking somebody sitting in their basement at a computer, you know, making these up to send locally. we are talking in many instances about large-scale infrastructures that hire people and traffic people just to commit these crimes. >> well, if you have received the solicitations or paid the fee, officials are recommending you submit a written complaint and all related documents to the california adjourn, the attorney general and they'll look into it. happening right now. igloo is replacing more than a million of its coolers because of a number of finger tip injuries. so the recall

>> 9.24 is the time in the north bay santa rosa. police now searching for a man who they say sexually assaulted a girl in the movie theater. so on your screen is a sketch that the police have provided. now the assault happened at the roxy stadium, 14 theater on santa rosa avenue over the summer last year. it wasn't reported, though, till november because of the trauma that the victim was experiencing. it took that long for them to feel comfortable enough to come forward. now the teenage girl was watching a movie. she says when she got up to go to the bathroom says suspect followed her and ended up pulling her to the ground and assaulting her. police tried to locate evidence at the scene, but they were unable to identify the suspect. so they're putting this sketch out. if you think you know who this person is, call police. we're also learning that the person shot in san jose on wednesday has died. police are now calling this a homicide. that shooting happened in the area farm and doubt drives not far

from the silicon valley career technical education center. the man who was shot was taken to the hospital and that is where they died. police did not release any information about a suspect or what may have led to that shooting are still waiting for those details. >> while rescue for chp officers rescuing this sea lion pop. this happened wednesday night and he was rescued from candlestick park. there was an off-ramp. he was on the off-ramp and northbound 101. they got a call around 10 o'clock in the evening saying that this pup was wandering in the lanes a bit. people's were like, was it a dog, isn't it? what is this and something you don't always see is a baby sea lion. they were able to a scoop it up and get it back into the bay. >> your morning. scroll is back to normal may or your evening. scroll. or whenever you're do. miss croll happens. unit lost and tiktok again. it's back in the app stores. >> you can download it if you

out. really nice. and we've got a beautiful, albeit little bit of a breezy afternoon ahead right now. don't think that tracking a new accident. this is on the bay bridge. >> 80 eastbound right at the treasure island exit. if you are traveling out of the city and heading over towards oakland. you're pretty backed up here. i was looking at the drive times if you're trying to get over into oakland, it's gonna take about 30 to 40 that is slow on a friday. the westbound side not impacted. you making great time for 2 minutes. tear what your san mateo bridge is about. 13. the richmond sandra fell bridge is at 9. we still got that overnight. rockslide that slow southbound want to whatever dale avenue, these are still slower all the way we were at about one, 31 highway there looks like making slight progress. things are still backed up. they hope to have that cleared out by at least noon but could take a lot longer area back to you know, caltrans is busy today cleaning up, but there's a landslide on highway one on a sausalito that's going to take

a longer than they thought. yeah, crawford's joy court has been following their progress. joining us live from the side of the road right there in chile. >> yeah, still a mess out here and count friends tells me do not know when they'll have this cleared up. so not happening at noon today. they say it's going to be sometime later today. they hope no exact word on when that will be. but 2 lanes are still shut down here on 101, southbound in sausalito. take a look at what's going on here. they're still cleaning up the trees, chopping those up. now with a chainsaw rocks and mud out here that has slid off the mountain. it's since 7 o'clock last night repeatedly is making it too dangerous for drivers to reopen any time soon. so as soon as they scoop up the dirt. >> with that tractor there, which dumps it into the dump truck to get out of more dirt than slides off the mountain. so it's like groundhog day. the movie out here. >> that is slowing down their progress. >> went 3, 4, still closed and

they were yesterday and i was inside the gym looking out at the band. i saw that guy. i didn't know at the time i thought was he crazy? you wanted to be i was like somebody go rescue have hear those winds that may be out there again this morning because of high winds are expected to last at least through 10 o'clock this morning. if you're heading to the coast, be really careful because the national weather service says the waves are going to be. >> strong continue to be strong throughout the day today. in fact, they're calling for dangerous waves of >> 30 feet or more along the coast. and that's gonna make it very dangerous to be on the water. and so that's why leaders are urging people to be extremely careful as they are prepared for the ripple effects of the storm that still haven't been felt yet. waters are still rising. the rivers are still pretty fast. and so we had a chance to speak with the u.s. just good apartment of emergency management about what they're doing. >> flood watch in effect through 10:00pm saturday. we're expecting 2 to 3 inches of rain in the forecast in san

francisco through friday. we have a high wind warning in effect as well through tomorrow morning. we're expecting 35 to 40 mile per hour winds with gusts up to 70 miles per hour along the coast. it's very windy. >> yeah, officials are urging people to drive safely. take your time. getting there. take it slow. you don't want to have to slam on the brakes. >> fire trucks and everything and iowa. all. the poor guy 1000 on fire. >> and a man has died in this house. fire in brentwood. it was around 11 o'clock wednesday night that it broke out. fire crews say it started in the garage and that's where they found the man who has died. he is 69 year-old james fields. >> disabled man was nice man. well, look, kind >> kind know you.

>> it was a good name of the victim was found in unique location for the time of day. >> the crews would have made it into that it to the structure for search the common places that someone be found. >> neighbors say he had been living alone after his wife recently passed away, but that his granddaughter would often visit the constant downpours made it very difficult for crews to get in there and investigate. they're still investigating at this point. they say there were no working smoke detectors in the garage. they're just trying to figure out what exactly what happened that ended in this man dying in this house fire in the south bay, a former san jose state employee has been indicted. accused of using his job to obtain apple computers and then resell them. prosecutors say that tongue fom was a facilities manager at doctor martin luther junior library and he was in charge of the purchases and he's accused of using school money

to buy apple mac books and ipads, which he then sold with a co-conspirator in folsom, the person and fulsome is accused of reselling and then shipping out the stolen products to buyers outside of california. if convicted, pham faces up to 5 years in prison at that, federal prison. >> your health this morning. not only is it the worst flu season doctors have seen in 15 years, but now there are worries about a quad-demic. what is that? well, that's when the flu rsv covid and the norovirus start impacting a lot of people throughout the bay area. and that's apparently what's happening right now. a lot of people getting hit hard. if you're one of those and you are recovering right now, doctors at kaiser permanente have some advice. >> your body is going to tell you what you need view rest. you need to rest need to reduce what you're doing. hydration really big. nutrition is really big to particularly even if you're not feeling so well. you've got norovirus, which is the stomach flu. maybe don't feel

registered democrats. in a distant second democratic former u.s. senate candidate and former orange county congress member katie porter with 9% support porter to has yet to publicly say whether she's running and rounding out the top 5, each with less than 5% support. former los angeles mayor antonio villaraigosa, california lieutenant governor eleni kounalakis and former state assembly and senate leader toni atkins, 70% of respondents meantime say they're undecided. i don't think this is a huge surprise. kamala harris obviously has huge name recognition in california. california is still a blue state loyola law school professor jessica levinson notes. california is also harris's home state, which she served as attorney general and u.s. senator before her term as vice president. and so voters are familiar with her. >> as the senator as the vice president, and you just can not quantify the importance of her name recognition and

there's nobody in the current field who has the statewide name recognition that harris does, but of harris does not run in the poll, found porter as of now would have the strongest support. >> still in that scenario, 45% of respondents say they're undecided at hagley of emerson. college polling helped conduct a survey with harris out of the picture. i think that this is an open contest. on the issue is more than 6 out of every 10 respondents said the stnte should spend more on firefighter staffing and equipment on immigration. 56% of respondents indicated mass deportations are a bad thing for the state. while 44% said they're a good thing. 54% meantime think california's high-speed rail is a good use of state funds. while 46% think it's not and that's for our current governor, gavin newsom, among california voters from across the spectrum, the poll found he has 42% approval and 40% disapproval of president trump in the golden state has 37%
