and it's not just about basketball floats light up san francisco at lunar new year parade were on the ground with a look at the celebrations for the year of the snake. hello, everybody. welcome. thank you for joining us 10. i'm catherine heenan. >> the bay area flooded with basketball fans for a weekend of all-star events. the pros are showing off their skills on the court. celebrities are getting in on the action with concerts, pop-up events kron 4 sports director scott reese joins us live from a chase center for the slam dunk contest happened. hi, scott. >> take after a little bit of everything happened here. now. i should let you know, we have migrated from the court here at chase center because a few

minutes ago, all media kicked off because it is double super secret time. they are rehearsing the entry. the intro to tomorrow's actual all-star festivities. so next, best thing we're just off the court and i'll give you a rundown of everything that went down here tonight. it was a magnificent night. i ton of star power, a ton of fun and som wow moments that we will get to. let's start chronologically here with the skills competition. that was the first event of the evening. we did have warriors in here. we'll get to that. but first, that's victor wembanyama. he and chris paul representing the spurs. now they're supposed to be shooting the basketball here. instead, it's just fling fling fling trying to cheat the system a little bit because time matters. will you know what the fans didn't like it, mr. moody didn't like it. donovan mitchell's like now 2 tfumbs down. forget about that. here's moses moody doing it the right way. he's making shots dream on crypt, pet crisp passes. the warriors got to the final round of the skills competition against

mobley and mitchell. but it was the cabs that prevailed. and so they are the winners of your skills challenge. then we go to the 3 point competition. and this was interesting because it was buddy hield representing the warriors, not steph curry. but buddy did his best steph curry impersonation. he had a shot here. tyler herro versus hield in the finals. there's hero representing the heat. he had 24 points in the fines. hield can feed him if he makes these last 3 shots. but he missed that one. and that was just enough that he would come up a buck short. 24 staff says so close. tyler herro wins the 3 point competition. but buddy ball certainly impress the crowd. it's good. great vibes. put on a >> all-star weekend we would fans of. and you know, i think 25 years. so i'm glad to be here. we bought it.

>> and then there was this mac mcclung the slam dunk competition. all he did was jump over a kia on his first arc on his first try no less. these were his 4 dunks. that's evan mobley. by the way, standing on a 5 inch platform. this last one right there. and look at that. he double taps and still don't at all. for those dunks were 50's perfect scores. mac mcclung three-peats as slam dunk champion. first time that has happened nba history. >> like this doesn't happen without stand on the shoulders. a lot of people had a lot of help. people were open gyms up in a car people use their i'm just really grateful right now. i love first, but it's funny how that works. and it just kind of let love dunking when guests and millions of the year. and congratulations. enjoy you got more for us next year. is this might be it for me, we'll see they will be back bad enough. i think about it.

>> take after outside most of the fans we spoke to date just told us how happy they are to see the nba all-star weekend back here in the bay area for the first time in about a quarter century. many of those fans also telling us that they think this is separate, just goes way of telling the world that they're back on the main screaming from inside the shop. >> it's out here tomorrow tonight. >> and screaming from eager fans pouring into thrive city. outside the chase center saturday for day 2 of nba all-star weekend. it's been from the young biggest thing. i've been looking forward to it to see my beautiful beyonce smile and have a good time here. so the soon to be married, like kendrick conoco, who works the jumbotron at chase center for him. he's proud to see the stadium. this lit i felt like. >> we've been on the come-up in honestly, this is another big thing that will help people, i mountains anymore.

>> and while many couldn't get inside to watch the skills contest, there's times to enjoy interactive games for the so can all that is the warriors. that my dream to be on again. pulling gonzalez drove 2 hours to get here. you. warriors fans were in full force. many saying the all-star weekend is good for the bay. i don't know. we haven't seen the city like popping like this in a while. you know, and use always be like this. so it's good to it's time put on his big boy pants again for the bay area. the san francisco looked down upon because of >> you know, criminal activity, whether car big band. >> other than that man, i think it's going let people know the bay area is really about a me. >> but for the kids, it's just a chance to continue looking up to their favorite players.

>> yes. >> video walking around any other lebron right? >> all right. that was jack molmud reporting. thank you, jack. nba all-star events this weekend have been coinciding with san francisco's annual chinese new year parade. the colorful lively event. it is one of the biggest celebrations of chinese culture outside asia. kron lindsey ford has all the sights and sounds from tonight. >> crowds packed along san francisco's market street on saturday to celebrate the year of the snake. >> the annual chinese new year parade featured a marching band dragons and people walking on stilts wearing colorful garments. >> san francisco's officials also took part in the event. families like the one of amelia, like great arriving hours early for a prime time viewing spot. my parents

city's chinatown. all right. time for a look at the forecast. lot of people expected to be out and about again tomorrow. kron 4 meteorologist gayle ong is here to tell us what we can expect. >> we are starting to come down with the weather this weekend just in time for all of these festivities with the all-star games and the lunar new year festivities in san francisco. a live look over at sfo. not a whole lot going mainly the activity is staying north of us. so you may catch a few raindrops in the north bay, but >> a ridge of high pressure is rebuilding. you remember what that means? that means we have a warming trend on the way. so maybe a chance of some light rain tomorrow morning in the north bay, maybe a few rain drops a widespread but not a whole lot. not very impactful. temperatures are cooling down anywhere frow 5 degrees to 10 degrees down from this time yesterday. so we're in the 40's and 50's. so going to be out to us a bundle up. winds are light. that does contribute to those chilly temperatures overnight. but here's the rest of your weekend and early next week, a slight chance of rain once

people without a home tonight after a fire tore through a house in burlingame. crews say it started 06:00am canyon road. flames spread to cardboard boxes inside the house and produced a lot of smoke. it took firefighters several hours to contain the flames. no injuries were reported governor newsom has issued an emergency proclamation in santa cruz county as recovery efforts continue for the partial war collapse. this is after that december storm knocked part of the pier into the water. the wharf was closed off yesterday because another storm brought high surf to the area. the county is set to get help from the office of emergency service. there are 2 small avalanches on the resort side of palisades tahoe. they happened yesterday morning, one in the enchanted forest area. the other near olympic lady ski patrol in search and rescue crews were sent out.

they say no serious injuries were reported. kron 4 meteorologist scale on by the way, is here with more on the forecast and including the sierra gayle. >> yeah, you know, there were avalanche warnings earlier this week after those rounds of storms, mainly this ski resort to do groom their own mountains. but you definitely want to keep an eye on the back country, but there are no avalanche warnings at this time. and usually that is for the back country. a live look over the tahoe area. you see some snow on the ground. this is incline village on the north side of the lake. 27 degrees at south lake tahoe. it's a great time to go this weekend, though. you you can expect a few more snow showers not too impactful. temperatures in the 40's. but if you're out there, it is so nice. it's especially after those rounds of snow for us. so we're going to start to quiet down in the weather. most of the storms are going to stay in the north. we could see a few raindrops in the north bay tonight and tomorrow. so let's play that in motion for you. this is 11, 30. we see some cloudy skies and notice the activities

staying to the north. that's from the 05:00am to the 08:00am hours. so few raindrops, few showers. just keep that in mind. the nothing too impactful. not all that wild weather. we saw the past 2 weeks a sunday afternoon. we see mostly cloudy skies. a few rain drops and we start to trend on the drier side towards the end of the weekend. another chance of rain looks like middle of the week but not too impactful as well. and nice warming trend on the way. it's gonna feel like spring that ensued. so you'll see that in the seven-day forecast tonight. temperatures chilly in the 40's, upper 30's in the north bay and santa rosa. other than that, anywhere from mid to upper 40's across the bay area. little cooler in the valleys. and here are the daytime highs. we're talking upper 50's to low 60's for our temperatures. so still no, pretty fi comfortable. but still on the cooler side wins, looked to be light here for your the rest of your weekend. and here is that 7 day forecast. boy, what a change here. so for from the, you

know, rainy weather now, we could see another chance of rain drops sunday and wednesday. but we start the week off with some cloudy skies in the 60's and take a look at the end of the week. we're talking upper 60's and maybe 70's next weekend with some sunny skies. back to you. thank you, gayle. >> 2 food delivery competitors are set to square off in court. uber technologies. the parent company of uber eats is suing doordash over what it says are anti-competitive practices. the lawsuit says doordash is accused of threatening to force higher costs on restaurants, which also offer uber eats delivery. uber reportedly filed that lawsuit after hearing from restaurant owners who say they felt pressured by doordash doordash argues the lawsuit has no merit and the competitors unable to offer merchants or consumers better delivery choices. mexico's government getting ready for a lawsuit against google and other big tech companies which

>> now at 10, 30, we are back with more highlights from day 2 of the nba all-star playoffs. kron 4 sports director scott recent sports reporter aaron wilson. >> are at chase center. >> catherine, the warriors were well represented here on saturday night and it started with the opening event, the skills competition, draymond green and we had moses moody and they got to the final aaron. so they acquitted themselves pretty well. what did you think of their performance and the skills competition? >> well, you know, this weekend is all about fun. so i definitely think when it comes to rating their performance for fun, i think they enjoy themselves at their draymond green. of course, having been 9 years it's been his first all-star. that's how long it's been. and now he's back in here at home this time hosting moses. moody, on the other believe is his first time participating in all-star. and he said he had a great time with draymond. course, they came up short to the cans. it was tough on donovan mitchell and evan mobley able to kind is the meta came down to the 2

and as i play this in motion for you overnight, you can see santa rosa and marin county will see a few raindrops throughout the morning. tomorrow will be more widespread throughout the 08:00am hour 09:00am hour but not a whole lot. and we start to trend drier by the afternoon. this is 12, 30 around lunchtime, mostly cloudy with maybe some drizzle. but we are on the drier side as the evening goes by next chance of rain looks to be some light rain once again on wednesday. not impactful at this time. doesn't look like it here. tomorrow's lows. we have 40's all around the bay area. maybe some 30's in the north bay as that front passes through daytime highs still cool in the upper 50's and low 60's winds. look to be light here for throughout the day tomorrow. so i'm very different. you know, much more quiet weather. and here's that long-range forecast. notice the end of the week. we are trending warmer. so a chance of rain. it looks like now the saying wednesday and thursday, maybe some light rain. but next weekend looks much

dreams begin here. welcome to the goodnight club. >> cal fire has started to release new maps. they outlined the severity of fire danger in california communities. this comes after governor newsom signed an executive order to accelerate the release of those maps, grass valley and trucking saw a pretty big jump in severity. so did auburn, juliet smith has the story. >> approximately 1.4 million new acres of land have been added to the 2 higher tiers of fire hazard severity. according to a press release from the governor's office, cal fire drew this map based on vegetation. data, topography, weather and climate change patterns to

calculate the wildfire probability and intensity. the new executive order will require an ember resistant. so within 5 feet of structures located in the highest fire severity zones. officials say this is the key to stopping wildfires from spreading to homes. >> many people say we've got a wildfire crisis in the state. i like to say we actually have our admission crisis in the state. this means the removal of all brush vegetation and flammable fencing, gravel and concrete should be used instead of or combustible. greenery member lands within the first. >> 5 feet of your house and can ignite. i n when the education it can get into eves. it lands on the roof. if you've got that debris because we haven't cleared you better than your roof. and if the numbers are hard enough. it will ignite. so the idea is to be able to create this buffer of defensible space. some note that replacing existing

>> how is it radical to actually klain rest when every other signal is that you should be moving. that's the question. chief curator add key jolie asked herself as she put together this current exhibit is calling tory living protective interiors and radical black joy. and it's really dedicated to the idea that trauma and struggle isn't our only generational inheritance. after 2 years ed lee says she feels like she's just hitting her stride and enjoys keeping the museum on the pulse of what's happening in black culture today. black and brown people are being asked to expose their soft underbelly again and again in the bid for empathy. that doesn't necessarily come so interested rather then where are we going to get to work? going to make new revolution. we're going go sit down for a minute and be seen as resting not as lazy. what's so magical about what general has created in that space. all those pieces speak to different ways

in which we're allowed to be in space as black bodies. oakland cut printmaking artist. sean. tell hildebrand is one of several artists with work featured in the liver tory living exhibit her vulnerable pieces show women behind closed doors and dodging and their deserved rest. the artwork hangs next to sculptures lead chose for the exhibit. but i'm not trying to rewrite or demonstrate what black menaces. i'm just demonstrating what rest looks like to me and what liberation looks like to me. it's not black dresses just rest as you move through the exhibit, you'll find text on the walls written by lee. she says she's inviting visitors to engage in what they're seeing. art work isn't just something that gives to you. it's in relationship with you. so what i want people to lead with is a sense that they, too, can meet the demands that were to making even challenging art works that they, too can ask questions that they can think about our work through their own individual allies add nears its 20th anniversary
