forecast. john, good morning. good morning. yet, nice day to have off of work. we are seeing some cool temperatures. little bit of cloud cover here and there, but a nice try. winter's day to maybe venture out and go on that jog across the golden gate like those folks behind me looking at mount diablo, a beautiful view here from walnut creek. a couple peeks of sunshine this morning, but definitely a mostly cloudy start to this day. most of us are fog free aside from a couple of foggy spots up around santa rosa this morning. as far as our current temperatures are concerned, most of us are sitting in the 40's, although a few low 50's and oakland, san mateo as well as san francisco in only a couple of us actually even fell into the 30's this morning. so by no means you're cold this morning that we've had across the bay as we move into the afternoon, it'll be 50's to low 60's a few times of sunshine. but for the most part, a lot of clouds rolling over head today. back over to you. all right. let's take a peek at what everybody's in 4 on a less not. >> not going to track my. there's no traffic. so no all

right. let's go to the south bay because this morning we have emerging. >> details about on if you heard, but this stabbing on friday, valentine's day up turning deadly and it was a young person to we have more now. let's go live to the scene. >> for the very latest with well, tram. this was the most unlikely scene, perhaps that a homicide would take place. this is santana row. >> one of the nicest, most upscale malls throughout california. but sure enough, it all went down on friday night, valentine's day night with thousands of people walking around. let me show you the video. this was around 7, 20 at night when people are here, shopping dining, you have to imagine it was date night being valentine's day, but he did not stop the suspects from attacking the 15 year-old boy stabbed him by the time officers arrived. the suspects were long gone. the victim was still alive.

officers and paramedics tried to treat him at the scene, then rushed him to the hospital, hoping that doctors would save his life. but in the end, the injuries simply too much for doctors to save his life. and he ultimately died from the stabbing as far as the suspects at this point, james and they are not releasing either. they don't know or not releasing at the descriptions of who they're looking for. but this being santana row, there are so many cameras around this location. so you have to believe they have access to that. not to mention the witnesses who were here at that particular time to let officers hopefully have clues to track down whoever is behind this. as far as the 15 year-old boy, they believe they know who he is. but at this particular time, they are not releasing the identity. they're going to leave it to the santa clara county coroner's office to notify the family, which you have to believe they know by now and then let the public know. but we do know with certainty at this hour that he is san

jose's 3rd homicide of this very early year. thank 903, right now. and in the east bay, san leandro police were involved in a shooting. >> it happened in ashland last night around 8.30, while officers were investigating of vehicular assault. and during that investigation, shots were fired involving the san leandro police. that's all we know at this point. other than suspect is in custody. search and rescue efforts have now been suspended called off. they were looking for a man who fell from san francisco's pier. 32 on saturday night. and this is a video from the citizen app in the distance. you can see the flashing lights, the rescue crews, the search and rescue operation happened and they did find a woman who fell into the water. she was rescued, hospitalized, but no sign of the man. >> accused of shooting a driver on interstate 80 in stanley under solano county

has been arrested. chp says the suspect had this loaded ghost gun on him when they took him into custody. they've identified 45 year-old robert small, who they say fired shots on westbound 80 near milk farm road wednesday. at one point striking another driver that driver called police and provided a description enough that police could identify and locate a suspect. small is now facing charges of attempted murder and assault. and it's another year of beautification for the city of san jose. mayor matt mahan posted on social media that the city is teaming up with silverleaf neighborhood association and council member panel to campus to bring colorful part. to the walls that previously had graffiti last year. san jose partnered with neighborhood associations across the city to add 13 new murals and art projects with the help of volunteers, mayor mahan extending his invitation to the community to come out and help this coming saturday.

>> the department of health and san francisco help more than 450 homeless people get treatment for behavioral health and help them with housing to in 2024. and this was with their street care team. the department says that it's committed to providing care and support so the homeless and that comes to medical and mental health needs >> in san francisco, it was all-star weekend with the nba players and their games inside the chase center. and then all the fun and games outside, you can see are a lot of people enjoying the thrive city area, right? so you didn't need a ticket. just had a lot of then of course, it all the restaurants and bars around with the game on inside. everybody had a good time. >> enjoying the all-star weekend. proffers jack moment takes a look. >> the nba all-star game here in san francisco, the culmination of a weekend's worth of fun and entertainment. you had the best basketball players on the planet all gathered under one roof. the game did not

disappoint with steph curry being the kobe bryant, most valuable player. and we got our storybook ending. >> as a celebration of a lot of great things happen in basketball to be playing with these guys for as long as we have light. it's obviously our spots come out, put on a show and i thank them for, you know, help do that and are and and go to state because, you know, a lot histories have been out here, but the competition and the camaraderie and the legacy that we operate is what it's all about. have to be a part of that celebration. it was way more. >> like fun, chaos. and i thought it would be there's so many moving parts and, you know, it takes like in ba is really good at like putting stuff like this together. so many things behind the scenes that, you know, don't get talked about enough that go through the weekend, which was really special and cool to just be a part of that. obviously just being back home with my family and friends is really do for the weekend. it was, though week it was cool to bay area came out show major so it's good reunite

>> celebration for the end of a successful weekend in san francisco. the nba all-star weekend taking over the bay for the first time in 25 years. and you guys favorite part about the weekend. so just the festivities, the vibes, the coach of people lined up early to go through security and check themselves into the chase center for the all-star games. it's the first year they're hosting a mini tournament. but those tickets inside they cost an arm and a leg is good. that's been really good. actually, countless fans just like this couple from fresno drove hours to be here in the moment, taking it all i always grew up or at lemon bay area big giants niners fan. actually grew up not really watching basketball, but the gentle warrior games to come on after the giants games. so brother grew up watching the warrior games and became aware everything was a celebration. some fans were upset. the games weren't blasted on the big screen at the front of the c.ase center. yeah, i was hoping they're going to play it. but it's alright. we'll find somewhere watch you guys find out that they were going to do when we came but fans

we do make our way into wednesday. so as i mentioned today, and tomorrow are dry. wednesday does bring with it. a few isolated showers to the bay. most rainfall concentrated to the north of the bay area up towards the oregon border. unlike last week where we did see that heavy feet of snow up in the sierra on thursday. it's nothing more than a few inches of snowfall. this time around. get a look at how much were going to be seeing across the region, eureka it you'll be looking at a heavy dose of rain again near the oregon border donner summit up in the sierra around 4 inches of snowfall. so not measuring it in feet. this time around and for the bay area will be staying below a 10th of an inch of rainfall. so very much, though, on the lighter side of things, once we get through wednesday's rain, we're done with it. the rest of the forecast looks nice and dry 50's to low 60's for today's daytime highs. today is actually one of the cooler days of this week's forecast city. kind of like that cool sweater, weather kind of vibe today is a great one for it. nyce jogging weather out there today. san jose at 62 for your

know, thousands of homes and businesses. and that created hazardous ash containing pesticides, plastics, heavy metals and that could make the water unsafe for surfers and swimmers and for the ecosystem of the ocean to all the animals runoff from recent rain is also an immediate concern, too. as the rain is increasing, then contaminants could be flushing into the sea. state water officials are going to be testing watching that for any organic compounds and microplastics so far, the la county health department and they've done 10 bulk chemical testing as well. say that they have not seen a health concern. >> in the south bay, the santa clara county office of education is planning layoffs. the workers apparently will be notified of their dismissal by march. 15th, the office hasn't said how many jobs in total will be cut. but we know this comes after. no because of

this morning. he charged with homicide. he's pled not guilty and we'll be back in court. according to court records coming up this friday. back to you. joey, thank you very much. 9.32, the alameda county sheriff's office wants your help to solve a murder that happened on valentine's day. 41 years ago. >> 84 year-old christian bustling are was killed in his home on dunn road in hayward in 1984. he was last seen by friends and neighbors 2 days before he died. 4 people are without a home because this one caught fire in burlingame. it started saturday morning. the fires on canyon road and that's where this home is located. you can see that there a lot of smoke. that's because there were cardboard boxes in the house. so those went up in flames and firefighters had to spend several hours getting the fire under control. nobody was hurt. >> will san jose police officer was injured while trying to break up a big fight saturday night. this was in

the downt%wn area near santa clara and san pedro streets. officers say they were attacked and that's when they called for backup. and here in this video from the citizens app, you can see the crowd forming to look at the ocean of police cars that arrive. dozens of them to block off the road. several people were arrested and the injured officer was treated and is expected to be okay. groups in silicon valley are calling for the removal of a mural at the palo alto branch of the santa clara county superior court. critics say the mural displays columnist imagery which belittles native americans, elect my alone. tribe has joined with the n double acp silicon or san jose. silicon valley to ask for it to be removed. however, the court says it can't do that without county approval. and at the moment, the county has taken a position that that mural is a historical piece of art that cannot be painted over the naacp plans to meet with county supervisors to discuss the matter further.

>> wilbur and doordash are going to battle out in court over being able to give you your meal, uber technologies, which is the parent company of uber eats is suing dash doordash over what they say is anti-competitive practices in the lawsuit. uber says the doordash is threatening to force higher costs on restaurants that offer uber eats delivery. uber filed the suit because they say they heard from arrest or some restaurant owners who felt pressured by doordash doordash says the suit has no merit and that uber is just unable to offer merchants consumers better delivery choices. >> i'm for >> protestors gathered outside an animal research lab in fremont. they're demanding elon musk stop experiments on animals. they're outside this company that musk's company neuralink leases the space. the companies developing brain chip implants and they have tested them on pigs and

state farm to hike rates an average of 22%. the company asked for this because of, quote, dire financial situation following the southern california wildfires but lloris at state farm didn't meet the burden of proof for this rate hike and requested a meeting later this month with company officials and consumer advocates. >> it's 9.36 in the south bay, a group of san jose wants have to tackle the lack of parking spaces in 2022, the city voted to reduce the minimum parking requirements for housing developments. and that's because they were favoring public transportation. but some council members say that this is limiting residents ability to pardon for their homes because public transportation hasn't kept up with the big amount of people that are moving into these developments and traveling throughout san jose. committee is proposing the city permitted parking program for residents in the high-growth areas. if this moves for the

eureka will see well over an inch of rain on wednesday. as for the bay, less than a 10th of an inch of rain donner summit, maybe around 4 inches of snowfall. nothing like the feat that we saw on thursday leading into friday. so definitely a lighter system here. today is one of your cooler days of the forecast. a lot of us will remain in the 50's as you're seeing along the coastline as well as for a decent amount of the bay shore, a few low 60's to be had in areas like mountain view into the south bay where san jose you'll get up to 62 degrees for your high low 60's continue up the east bay shoreline hayward at 61, oakland right there as well, concord and walnut creek at 62. some of our warmest spots little further north fairfield and vacaville, you reach 64 today. now tomorrow's temperatures a little warmer on average wednesday bringing a few light showers. as i mentioned, the rest of the week is quite sunny. and by your final weekend of february could be seeing a few low 70's on the mat.

went searching that shed. they discovered a rifle and bullets. police say the man is convicted felon and legally wasn't allowed to have guns. the chp, by the way, arrested 2 people in contra costa county accused of having more than 125 pounds of marijuana in their car this weekend. officers say they had pulled the driver over for speeding and then spotted garbage bags stuffed with that marijuana. the driver and passenger now facing drug possession charges. >> 9.50, is the time right now. and the chp wants more women to join the 4. so they held a recruiting event over the weekend. you can see a lot of people here participating. they're looking for everything from dispatchers. 2 officers right now, only 6% of the chp is female. and so if you want to join the academy, you have to be between the ages of 21 35 and be able to pass their physical agility test and the written test. there are more than 100 women who signed up
