at how busy it is right now. can you imagine how things were on friday night? valentine's day night with so many people out and about perhaps date night. i mentioned that because there are potentially thousands of witnesses not to mention surveillance cameras that the san jose police department have access to and hope to get more information on the suspects. let me show you the video. this all went down on friday at around 7, 20 at night when according to the san jose police department suspects approach a 15 year-old boy stabbed him and then fled the scene by the time they got here. well, there was no one to arrest because they long gone. but the victim was still here. they rushed the victim to the hospital, but injuries so severe that they could not save his life. in the meantime, they are still looking at surveillance footage. they are talking to witnesses but no descriptions either. they're not comfortable passing along at this particular time or they simply don't know yet. but we

family. joey? >> brittany, like this is being remembered by her family as a loving mother of 2 young kids. and they're hoping that her tragic death will not as no reason because they're hoping it will give people of warning about the reality of domestic violence. she was just 30 years old when she was killed just a year ago this week and a few months before her graduation from diablo valley college. she was a nursing student. there. no. police say x jeffrey kendall broke into her home and shot her in the head with an assault weapon. after a manhunt, he was arrested in santa cruz. their little boy, liam, just 4 years old at the time. witnesses mom being killed, according to the family. for the first time we're hearing today from britney's mom. >> since and of course, my life not been the same. have been paying greats. want this to be about my pain and grief. i want this to be. that day to

police say that happened last night around 8.30, officers were investigating a vehicular assault when shots ended up fired and they ended up taking the suspect into custody after that, no injuries were reported. search and rescue efforts have been suspended now for a man who fell from san francisco's pier. 32 on saturday night. this is video from the citizen app shows you from the distance, the flashing lights or the emergency response to this not only and fall, but a woman did too. and she was rescued and hospitalized. but they looked in and the officials could not fine. the man, they have no id on the identity days right now. they haven't told us that a man accused of shooting a driver on 80 in solano county has been arrested and look at the loaded ghost gun that was seized. police say that was on hand when he was taken into custody. 45 year, robert small, they say fired the shots on westbound 80 near milt farm road on wednesday and the shot hit another

mount tam looking out at the bay show a little bit of that low cloud cover sitting there in the bay itself. any sort of shower activity is very light and it is way to the north of us it today. obviously quite the dry one and a calm one-two with nice, calm winds this morning. picking up just a touch this afternoon, but still pretty nice and calm even towards the close of the day. only one chance of rainfall in this week's forecast in that will be towards the middle of the week really talking wednesday for it. so today and tomorrow, nice and dry ones come wednesday. there's your low pressure. that skirts just passed us. and with that some pretty good, solid rainfall, humble county northward and nice dose of snow up around mount shasta bay area up to tahoe. we're right at the southern periphery of any sort of precipitation. and the anything that we see is going to be pretty light moves through very quickly. and by thursday on through the weekend after that, skies have cleared back out and we are actually off to a really nice and warm final weekend of the month. so how much will we see

to do. >> it's 10, 20 and the santa clara county office of education is planning some layoffs. the workers are going to get there. notifications by march 15th. they haven't said how many jobs are going to be caught. but they say it's because of cuts in federal funding and expiring grants. and this is at the time that the office is looking for potential evidence of misspending under former superintendent mary and you won the board of education, voted to fire her in october. and that sparked a backlash from state lawmakers and educators and independent audit by the board was turned over to the santa clara county district attorney in december. a this morning, america might have a new favorite pastime. sports betting it's exploded in popularity and wall street is taking noticed change. king has more.

pretty solidly in the 50's at this point, some of us will spend the rest of the day here. a few of us, especially in the east bay north bay and south bay will rise into the low 60's later on. there's a little bit of sunshine right there above san francisco with a few more of those bright spots come the afternoon. >> all right. thanks so much. on 10, 30 right now, a developing story in alameda county. sheriff is asking the community for help solving a murder that happened 41 years ago on valentine's day. 84 year-old christian bustling are was killed in his home on dunn road in hayward in 1984, he was last seen by friends and neighbors 2 days before he died and they're still trying solve that case to date. a san jose police officer was injured. breaking up a brawl saturday night. this is the scene. it was a downtown near the santa clara and san pedro street area. the intersection here and officers were attacked. they called for backup. the citizen app video

shows this crowd watching as police cars blocked off the road. several people were arrested and the injured officer is expected to be okay. 10 31 right now on the peninsula. big fire tore through this home. and as you can see, there's a house in burlingame that was damaged. so 4 people have been displaced, but everybody is okay. the home is on canyon road and it was really smoky right there because they had boxes in the house that caught fire. firefighters spent several hours putting it out 10. 31 is the time and cal fire has started releasing new maps that show danger areas across california where people may live in be susceptible to wildfire. the governor actually signed an executive order to speed up the release of these maps. juliet smith has more. >> approximately 1.4 million new acres of land have been added to the 2 higher tiers of fire hazard severity. according to a press release from the governor's office,

cal fire drew this map based on vegetation. data, topography, weather and climate change patterns to calculate the wildfire probability and int nsity. the new executive order will require an ember resistant. so within 5 feet of structures located in the highest fire severity zones. officials say this is the key to stopping wildfires from spreading to homes. >> many people say we've got a wildfire crisis in the state. i like to say we actually have home edition crisis in the state. this means the removal of all brush vegetation and flammable fencing, gravel and concrete should be used instead of park or combustible greenery. and if an amber lands within the first >> 5 feet of your house and can ignite ne. when the education it can get into the eves. it lands on the roof. you've got that debris because we haven't cleared you better than your roof. and if the numbers are hard enough. it

will ignite. so the idea is to be able to create this buffer of defensible space. some note that replacing existing fencing like this could cost a pretty penny, but a former fire chief says when you consider the big picture, it's fair question should really be. >> the relative cost of implementing zone 0 versus the cost of rebuilding existing homes will have 3 years to complete this task. >> what we what we are asking those people to do is to, you know, take one bite of the apple of the time. but cal fire says all new construction in these areas must comply with regulations. affective immediately question still remains about how this will affect homeowner insurance. >> which is continue to break. california homeowner bank accounts year after year. officials say compliance with stricter safety regulations could eventually reduce the cost. if the homeowner is going to demonstrate to the insurance companies that they are making significant efforts to reduce their risk, in my

view, they have to be rewarded for that effort. once local jurisdictions received the maps, they have 30 days to make them public and 120 days to adopt them. groups in silicon valley are calling for the removal of a mural at the palo alto branch of the santa clara county superior court. >> critics say the mere oled displays colonialist imagery that belittles native americans. the awak mas alone. a tribe has joined with the naacp, san jose silicon valley and they're asking for this to be removed. but the court says that it cannot do that without county approval. and right now the county has taken a position that the mural is a historical piece of art. can't be painted over. the naacp is planned to meet with county supervisors about the issue. >> it is over versus doordash in a lawsuit. yeah. they're going to court over technology is the parent company over 8. >> is suing doordash. they say

real opportunity of showers in this forecast and that will swing right by us. come wednesday of this week. there's your low pressure right here, centered up brushing right past the north coast. that means areas like eureka over to mount shasta will see your most rain to snow fall while the bay-area up to tahoe right at the periphery of any sort of precipitation potential. and that's on the lighter side of things with nothing more than a few light showers in just for one day on wednesday. moving through quickly. and then we're on to a dry tail end of this week. how much rain will we be seeing for the bay area on wednesday will stay less than a 10th of an inch north coast. it's over an inch of it and only a few inches of snowfall in the sierra compared to last week's multiple feet of snowfall up there. as for today, one of our cooler days of the forecast, we will be in a range of 50's to 60's half moon bay and the coast. some of our cooler areas while the south bay east bay and north bay, generally on the warmer side of things rising into the low to even mid 60's at the very warmest east bay
