sunshine already. and with those clear skies last night, we did have some cold evening lows. but temps are lifting no fog out there this morning. we did see clear skies up in the north bay, which was our foggy spot yesterday. temperature wise, starting to see more 50's san jose in mountain view right at 50 degrees as seth at 52 right now. still some 40's in spots like petaluma concord, even berkeley as we move into the afternoon, more and more 60's on the map. so we've got a chilly start. absolutely. but cool by noontime. and by the afternoon, it's going to be feeling really mild with those mid 60's at our warmest. >> right. all right, john, thank you for that. let's start with those bridges. we had an accident on the bay bridge in the last hour, right near the toll plaza that just clear. so drive times are looking way better. now, 13 minute ride. if you're making your way into the city. 16 along the san mateo bridge while richmond, sandra fell is at 8 the golden gate bridge about 20 minutes. and if you are hitting the highways like over in the east bay southbound 8.80, just south of 29, there's a stall out

tractor trailer slowing things down there. 5 80's way. better bet until they're able to get that off the highway regions. back to you. thanks. a lot let's get back to the breaking news that we've been following this morning, which is a heavy police presence where shots were fired in a neighborhood in concord. yeah, right there. where will pass road in atomic drive? come together. >> kron four's will tran is at the scene. will. >> this is no toma drive and you can see officers behind me. it's been about 8 and a half hours since they arrived and more officers are coming. so it looks like this scene is far from wrapping up. there is a detective right there. they have been walking in and out of that house with the garage open. reportedly this is a domestic violence situation involving a father and son hoping to get more information as the morning moves on as the concord police department. they have promised that they would have somebody available to talk to us or at the very least released a statement on

what's going on as far as the scene here, you can clearly see they have taken over this corner of natoma drive. they got here at around one 30 in the morning. it does not appear that any officer was injured because i don't see urge an see among the officers here or them shutting down this area looking for an active shooter or a suspect. so it looks like it's safe in this particular neighborhood. i have confirmed with neighbors and i saw police officers going around looking at the ground as well. that shots were fired. we don't know if shots from the home where shots from police officers, but clearly this scene is still a crime scene and more officers than not are still coming here as opposed to getting it closer to wrapping up. back to actually more officers are coming. thank you. we'll check in with you a little bit 903, is the time. >>cfans, friends and family continue to mourn tragic loss of a teenager who was stabbed in san jose santana row on

valentine's day. yeah, he was killed while he was there with his girlfriend on a date and we have the very latest from kron. 4 jack moment. >> family and friends of david gutierrez say that he was a student at sequoyah high school and love to go to his local boxing gym in redwood city. the 15 year-old was killed in a stabbing here in santana row on valentine's day. it's a better introduce you to the young life taken too soon. we take you to redwood city. >> it is like to work out and hang out with his friends here. >> it is david gutierrez, boxing gym. this group of kids standing right now was the same group the team would normally train with. this is his coach for dover, rita this. henry list. it's not real. you know? >> it was random when over the state. he coached gutierrez for 2 years and says that this

couldn't get to them. they can get deliveries. they say that it was confusing 4 cars and living for their customers. so the project actually spread to south, but this wasn't done. so they're doing it. city is taking it out. relocating expected to take about 2 months and the construction work will continue monday through friday from 07:00am to 05:00pm until they get that done. developing news in union city where police investigated an accident that happened in close down the whole roadway here that last night around 8.30, east bound alvarado, niles road and all that a boulevard, a person was struck by a car. we don't know their condition. we just know that they closed that area so they can investigate. >> in the north bay, 2 teenagers accused now stealing a car from a driver gunpoint in vallejo. so police say the teens blocked 2 women in a parking lot, then stole their car. the victim's vehicle was later found abandoned. and then police short time later spotted the teens pulled them

over. police say they had these guns in their car. both have been arrested. >> someone standing on the side of the street. he could smash into someone's house is very >> yeah, people in walnut creek's castle rock neighborhood speaking out now about the reckless driving. this particular driver has been doing donuts at all hours of the day. neighbors say this has been going on for 2 years. finally capture the license plates of 2 drivers who brazenly did this on presidents day weekend. neighbors are now hoping the police will be able to catch them. >> it has normally been during the night, but i think they're just getting more. we have more courage. no one stopping them know. caring for sure. say that this is the guy and we have video of him doing it. so what more proof you want? >> yeah. neighbors also say speeding on this street has become a big problem despite

the city and stalling on a roundabout and radar speed signs, they also plan to speak about their concerns at the walnut creek city council meeting. >> and tonight, 0, 8, and in the north bay, officials are preparing to remove iconic elm trees from the historic bear, injure winery tunnel. and this is because those trees were diseased and they're really old. and so they want to take them out, make the improvements everything marked in red. those are all the trees that they're going to take down. they did inspections in 2023. and caltrans and the city of san halyna deen that they needed to be pulled and they are going to replace them with disease resistant elms. they're going to be collected near or at least the same locations because they want to maintain the appearance of tunnel road. teachers in san ramon are standing up against proposed budget cuts. they are pushing back against the district's plan of the 25 million dollars in cuts and

that includes cuts to menta' health, supports like counselors and social workers. more than 1000 teachers are going to rally today at lunch time at doherty valley high school to make their point. they'll be doing that 11, 30 this morning. >> well, in the east bay, the new alameda county district attorney is going to be sworn in in oakland ceremony set to be held later today for salute jones dickson. she's replacing pamela price, who was recalled by voters in november. previously dixon was a superior court judge who also served as a deputy district attorney in alameda county for 15 years. she says she plans to focus on reorganizing the district attorneys office and the backlog of cases. the swearing-in ceremony set for 4 o'clock this afternoon. in more bay area news. the east brother light station house on an island in san francisco bay has a new in keeper. well, a couple, daniel and rachel, they're going to be taking over as the 34th keepers of

that shower activity up to the north. that is this low pressure that is gliding or right up into the pacific northwest. it will bring showers to northern california, but us in the bay and really up in the sierra too, are right at the southern end of any sort of precipitation here. so once you head north of mendocino county, that's where that rain really kicks into gear tomorrow. but for us here in the day, definitely some a light sprinkle activity at most. in fact, you can see that here in your future cast of rainfall totals. oakland, san francisco, maybe 2 hundredths of an inch. hardly a drop in san jose. some light showers and santa rosa right around a 10th of an inch. you get up to eureka and there's the heavier rain donner summit up in the sierra, maybe around 3 inches of snowfall. definitely pales in comparison to the feet of snowfall that the sierra had last week. now, today is a little warmer. as i noted, a lot of 60's on the map. a few 50's hanging on at the coastline. but all in all today paired with that sunshine and those light winds, it's going to feel really pleasant. redwood city

aren't fully awake, the gas prices will wake you up. quick cross charlie horton. the newsroom explain a a kind of a rude awakening, right if you >> are filling up today. it's going to hit your wallet. gas prices up nearly $0.60 in san francisco compared to a month ago. >> we did the math for you. and today in vallejo and oakland, you're paying $0.28 more. at last week, san jose and san francisco, a quarter of gore napa. 36 entire both sandra fell santa rosa gas is a quarter higher than last week. drivers in contra costa county can expect to pay just over 5 bucks and 7 tail county, 5.18, a gallon in the east bay. a large fire broke out at the martinez refinery earlier this month. phillips. 66 plans to shut down their refinery in southern california later this year. california now requires refineries to store extra gas to make up for shortages. reason or for why prices have

gone up so much is because california policy has essentially derailed many refineries from doing business in recent years. >> so supply and demand is a factor here. according to the energy information administration, the domestic supply drop by 3 million barrels last week. and the demand is up by about 200,000 barrels per day. refineries are beginning to switch over from winter to summer blend fuel according to aaa. and so that usually leads to higher gas prices as well. so you might want to maybe hitch a ride with a co-worker, take bart or hop on the ferry. you know, the bars open on the ferry guys. >> all day people may need a stiff drink right. and i love. and when the show's over how reach out 9.30, through right now speaking ride san francisco based over is launching a new >> campaign aimed at lowering rideshare insurance costs. uber says state mandates are requiring such high coverage

and after taking part in the nba all-star weekend in the bay area, he went back to his alma mater on monday and recalled how sonoma state was one of the few schools that offered him a chance to play college basketball. he said his concern is that if these cuts go through other young athletes may not get the opportunity he was afforded. >> i mean, just kids run a park that come to these games and, you know, they enjoy it. it makes them want to play these sports and things like that. so i think a lot of it is bigger than sports. i think we're not realizing how much of the impact that sonoma state sports actually has on the community. >> well, sonoma state also plans to and 20 academic degree programs and layoff a slew of faculty, a group calling themselves save seawolves athletics has filed a civil rights complaint with the u.s. department of education challenging these cuts. >> 9.39 and parts of a popular mall and the peninsula.

they're going to undergo a major redevelopment. if the owners of the hillsdale mall have their way, it's in san mateo and they want to turn part of that shopping mall into an area for housing. it's part of a major redevelopment that was submitted by the mall's owners called the hillsdale re imagined project with what you wish to take part of the existing indoor mall. they'd take the structure down and turn that into homes and office and retail space and also some open space. all employees, though, have mixed feelings about the redevelopment. >> it's a mixed feeling for sure. i will here for like 5 minutes, but it's been helpful having a job that's nearby. this is like close to small within, kind of a distance. so it would kind of take away from people shopping space. mike, where to where would you go? if you didn't have the hillsdale for the retail? well, the serramonte center in daly city. >> is about the closest that's about maybe. 15 or 20 minute trip. the city of san mateo

has not released the cost of the redevelopment project nor any construction date will keep you posted. >> in the south bay, santa clara city officials have finalized contracts for the 2026 fifa world cup city council approved agreements with the bay area's host committee and the san francisco forty-niners fact the host committee is going to be taking up the cost for the 6 world cup matches at levi stadium, including a 25 million dollar price tag to bring the field up to fifa regulations. the city won't be paying a dime on the upgrades to levi stadium brought on by voters passing measure j that prevents the city from spending money on the facility. the host committee will reimburse the city for any equipment that's but specifically for the world cup. and in the event the host committee can't pay the reimbursement. well, the forty-niners have agreed to pick up the tab field. construction is already underway. well, speaking san francisco, it was a jam packed weekend of events all across

the bay area from the nba all-star weekend to the day of love and the lunar new year celebrations, hundreds of thousands of people. we're in san francisco for the festivities like out of the most county center for the fan experience there. the fan fair was also felt across the bay in oakland. they had several major events there, including the all-star celebrity games and the nba hbcu classic. both cities say they can't wait to keep this momentum going. >> the city felt alive and that's what we want to have happened 365 days a year. it was it was a weekend to you know, the warriors, the raiders, the a's are gone. >> so this brought back some some pride is brought back to, i guess, encouragement that oakley can still do. major read it. >> according to mayor daniel lurie, san francisco generated around 350 million dollars in economic impact. >> it's i'm 42. and still ahead on the kron 4 morning.

interruption to this drier, warmer pattern. we do see a low-pressure area making its way into the pacific northwest. with that some rain and snow up in the cascades. we are right at the southern point of any sort of precip potential out of this and what that means for us tomorrow is just nothing more than a few light. sprinkles. once you head north of mendocino county, that's where you're running into the heavier rain. snowfall in the sierra is also going to be really limited sticking just 2 tomorrow and then clearing and drying out very consistently after that point. today's daytime highs are going to be mild. tomorrow is a little bit cooler paired with these light showers across the bay area. meeting tomorrow is may be the one that's a plan a whole lot outside, although it's certainly not a bad one. donner summit up in the sierra, only 3 inches of snowfall compared to the feet that you had last week. so not a lot. that's going to interrupt your travel plans into this year, either. as i mentioned, today's so mild comfortably in the low 60's for downtown san francisco. some 50's at the coastline

while really the rest of us in the low to mid 60's for today's daytime highs, some of our warmest temps and the south bay san jose at 66, a lot of surrounding areas right there as well and dublin you're also right at 66 for your highs today. oakland. 62, a nice cool one paired with that sunshine and light wind sounds pretty nice on all, especially for a winter's day. now, tomorrow does get a little bit cooler. a few clouds rolling over head with that shower potential most likely further north in the bay area. much less likely further south thursday, we clear right up. temperatures warm back up and by the weekend we've climbed well back into the 70's for the first time in a while for some spots right now. >> it that the roads now the time to do that scene, a farm or clean and ran out on our map, the or traveling along southbound 8.82, open. we did have a stalled tractor trailers there for about 2 hours. they just cleared that off of the highway. things are still a little slow. 5.80, might be better for you to

face. the woman suffers from early stage dementia. so police say the on the lookout for she rides muni frequently and visits the pacific heights neighborhood. often if you think you recognize or call police. following the devastating fires in los angeles. some raga residents are now questioning the town council and whether it's adequately studied wildfire of action, evacuation routes. for a potential wildfire in the future. so the organization called safe moraga or save moraga filled, i should say, filed a lawsuit against the town alleging that violated the california environmental quality act by approving a 66 unit development without for studying how it would affect residents that are trying to evacuate during a wildfire. as of right now, the town only has 2 lane roads and the ways in and out of moraga are extremely limited. >> the difficulty here is when you have so much population concentrated in such such a tiny place service by only a
