north of the golden gate. rainfall is really concentrated. mendocino county northward and actually pretty heavy. once you get up to areas north of ukiah talking eureka up towards the oregon border. so what does that leave us here in the bay area with will just a couple of sprinkles and most likely a bit later on this morning, mostly towards 10, 11, early in the noon hour could see a few light rain drops, maybe even passing south of the golden gate for the most part, though, this is having very minimal impact on your forecast for the day. just a little cooler cloudy year and a sprinkle or 2 temperatures in the 40's to low 50's currently sonoma at 48 degrees. oakland and berkeley. each at 49 for your current temperatures as we roll into the middle of the morning. that's what i'm expecting. that opportunity of sprinkles to increase the most temperatures will eventually reach the 60's. just a touch cooler than yesterday was. >> minutes across the bay

bridge. traffic already on the rise likely to be a pretty busy one middle of the week. a lot of people making that commute. 8 minutes is a good drive time, though, pretty close to the limit. 12 minutes across the san mateo bridge. and as you can see, there's a lot of us early risers out there, but you're still rolling 7 minutes at the richmond center fell and the golden gate aside from a couple of light sprinkles, things have been really smooth out there rain. all right, john, thank you for that. a top stories. the people are recovering from a major crash in san jose is actually shut down parts of the almaden expressway just north of brandon lane for hours. neighbors telling kron four's that moment they're worried next crash could be a lot worse. >> it was a multi vehicle car accident that shut down out of the expressway in both directions here on tuesday. the accident has many neighbors concerned that the next time that this happens, it will be deadly. home surveillance camera footage capturing the moment of impact. it shows a car heading southbound on alvin

expressway, kicking up dirt from the center median before slamming into the car headed northbound. the crash happened just after one 30 in the afternoon and police arrived within just a couple minutes. so we knew that something really significant had happened and one person suffered minor injuries and the other is in serious condition as of tuesday night, michele ferrari came to see the damage for herself. very sound. >> you know, we further down in the albany area this you can get some bad driving up in this area for certain. she says she's not surprised by the crash. people that people don't respect the speed limit. >> and they. stepped in and out of lanes this particular section about. but the expressway is part of a high priority corridor, according to the city of san jose's vision, 0 plan aimed at reducing the number of traffic fatalities in san jose in 2024. san jose had 49 traffic deaths 2023. >> there were 47. the truth is we're not treating this as a crisis. >> we're treating this is a

reporting here in san jose jacmel. but kron 4 news. well, a south a deputy is in critical condition after a crash. >> santa clara county sheriff's office saying deputy daniel our lows was on his way to work friday when it happened. the peace officer research association of california. they set up fundraiser online to help the deputy and his family. according to that page, our of all those has been with the santa clara county sheriff's office since 2020. he's now recovering from multiple surgeries. the sheriff's office says they're still investigating that crash. well, congressman eric swalwell is back in the east bay and he's meeting with his constituents for the first time since president donald trump took office. swalwell is openly blamed and criticize the president for his response to the recent major plane crashes. course, sarah stinson talk to the representative. >> nearly one month into president donald trump's second term. congressman eric swalwell encouraging his constituents to stand strong

at a town hall in union city tuesday night. our job in government is to protect people. and right now they don't feel safe. they see cuts to the faa and plane crash the latest plane crash happening monday when a delta flight from minneapolis crash landed at the toronto pearson airport flipping upside down on the runway. all 80 people survived. but 21 passengers were hospitalized. 48 hours prior to people died in a small plane crash in georgia. >> and last month, the deadliest u.s. air disaster in 15 years happened in dc when an army helicopter collided midair with an alaska airlines flight sending both into the potomac river killing 67 people. president trump has publicly faulted federal diversity and inclusion efforts specifically with air traffic controllers. however, swalwell places the blame on trump writing on x, quote, no president has had more plane crashes in their first month

alps. the southern cascades, the coast oranges in general releasing a coming down here in the bay. you may notice a sprinkle or 2 out there really just some low clouds making contact with some of our hillsides spots like mount tam up to mount saint mostly just seeing some of that cloud cover and a little bit of dampness so far. now let's time everything out for us. there is a very weak frontal boundary brushing right past us this morning. makes its way past the region, mostly towards 9.10, to 11:00am now with. that will be your best chance of maybe one of those sprinkles making its way south around the golden gate around that time. so mostly late morning into just the very start of the afternoon, a few very light showers can be expected overall. as i mentioned, this is nothing to be canceling plans over moves through very quickly. and once we see it, we're done with it pretty much future cast of rainfall is showing you same as yesterday, staying below a 10th of an inch for most of us. there is a better opportunity of rainfall. just

on the other side of your 7 day forecast. that could be adding up a little bit further. but as of right now, this is generally a very dry trend of weather after the slow clears through a high pressure, ridge builds in. and that is going to keep us dry for quite a long time. keep us increasingly warm, too. that'll make today one of your cooler days of the forecast 50's for your highs in the city as well as at the coastline. still holding on to a few low 60's in areas like the south bay mountain view at 60 degrees today. san jose at 62 degrees east bay temperatures also a range of upper 50's in the tri valley to low 60's in spots like hayward and san leandro. well, that creek, you'll and right at 60 degrees, napa and sonoma, both at 61. so the rest of our forecast take a look at this from a few sprinkles today. mostly 50's to low 60's to already back in the upper 60's tomorrow. by the weekend we've got 70's with mostly sunny skies, beautiful and clear forecast ahead. roadways this morning

the bay area to houston, texas. all of it coming amid a tense relationship between the oil industry and governor gavin newsom. well, companies are ripping you off all of you from press conferences and they continue to get away with it to social media. big oil's ripping you off to the debate stage. these companies are ripping you off and ripping us off. that's been the governor's message over the last several years, accusing the oil industry of price gouging at the pump. an allegation the industry tonight. just last year, newsom called a special session and signed a new law requiring oil companies to keep minimum oil inventories on hand. before that. some backed a plan to ban the sale of all new gas-powered cars in the state by 2035. newsom has long argued those regulations will benefit the environment and protect consumers. but chevron heavily disagrees. they're making it hard competitors that used to be here next on show british petroleum. they're all gone.

we now have different competitors, marathon valero pbf and some others. but it's an indication that it's not it's it is not going to good place for companies like chevron to make a good return on investment. in a statement, a spokesperson for the governor said the newsom administration will work with any company committed to california and the shared goals of a cleaner, sustainable future. chevron has a future in clean energy in california. they can join us in our steady long-term transition to a state powered by clean energy. chevron, though, responding noting it is the second largest bio-diesel producer in the u.s., but adding demand for gasoline is still high in the golden state. a state the u.s. department of energy says has more than 30 million registered gas-powered cars as such while chevron's headquarters are no longer in california, it still operates 2 major refineries here, one in el segundo in southern california and the other in richmond in northern california where a combined

agencies getting together at the facility to assess the situation. follows a large lithium battery fire at the power plant. this is back on january. 16th. that prompted evacuations. then officials say the smoke does not appear to be burning and damage. battery modules from the january fire. teachers and staff and the central valley school district protesting tuesday against proposed budget cuts. the school district says they need to close a 26 billion dollar budget deficit in order to reach that goal. leaders want to increase class sizes, eliminate management, administrative and custodial roles. teachers and staff are now pushing back. >> think a lot of us feel betrayed. because we understand declining enrollment. we understand budget issues, but we also understand that it's management's responsibility to ensure and safeguard our kids.

>> all right. welcome back to kron. morning news. if you head out today, you might notice will shift in the forecast. john travels been tracking that morning, john. yeah, little shift to definitely nothing major. we are seeing our only chance of showers and the rest of the forecast today in particular a little bit later on this morning where we're sitting right now, skies are dry east bay hills, looking down into the bay. nothing really going on at the very moment to the north of us, though, especially north of ukiah. that's where you begin to run into some light to moderate shower activity. we are right at the very southern end of any sort of precipitation potential. and with that comes just a few of these light sprinkles, mostly north of the golden gate and mostly right around 09:10:11am, up to around noon. is that potential before generally clearing and drying out for the rest of the

practices. overs holden is live with those details morning. joey. good morning. yeah, this is a county wide strike. we're expecting to see courthouse workers out here. >> picketing and marching this morning and they are calling attention to this. they say they have been working without a contract since december. and here is the issue with that. they say superior court employees claiming there's a major problem with under staffing and it is delaying justice, according to the group, one in 5 positions are vacant, rather. and they say the courts using workers who are not trained to fill the vacant jobs. and that includes courtroom clerks. the outcome they warn could lead to errors and that could result in allowing defendants who are found guilty, for example, to go free. also violate the rights of the innocent. the workers also claim under staffing will slow down the legal process by increasing wait times. they believe this will harm the public. so today's strike impacts criminal civil and juvenile

courts here in alameda county courtroom clerks will be taking part. kasia clark is one of them. she tells us, quote, as the ones who keep the wheels of justice turning. we need to be prioritized by the court and the state so we can do our jobs and prioritize the public. well, we have reached out to the court will let you know when we hear back. meanwhile, this strike is happening this morning during courtroom hours. that's usually 9 o'clock. it's unclear if this will impact the way the courts operate today, whether they'll be able take to operate this morning during the strike. back to you. all right, joey, thank you for that report. time now 5.32 and happening today. >> san francisco is going to be the first city in california to install an automated speed enforcement camera advocates. they're happy about this to get together to celebrate covers will. tran is live in san francisco with the latest on that. good morning. well, >> rain and they will celebrate in 3 hours from now. we'll have community activists

will hopefully slow down drivers, reyna the san francisco police department. they will also use the camera during sideshows because obviously they all right tool to try to capture thealicense plate and help the police department track down people behind sideshows as well. we will obviously talk to the people starting at 8.30, this morning. so this is a big day in san francisco. slow down people because if you don't that camera will get you back to you. all right. well, thank you for that. >> and domestic violence call turning into a police shooting and conquer any with that suspect dead around one 40 tuesday morning. police say they responded to report of a person attacking a family member. so this happened on that home. a drive off of busy willow pass road when police arrive. found a man stabbing his family. never the night. police then shot and killed that man and the victim was taken to the hospital. they are expected to survive. neighbors telling us the violence is way too close to home.

santa rosa native andrew gonzalez was among the 10 people killed when that plane went down earlier this month. how is lindsay for talk to his wife and his friends who say they are just devastated. >> someone that's very hard to define so many things. whitney bowers, the widow of andrew gonzales, says he was selfless soul crushing everyone's at a loss. it is unimaginable. what what is our current reality? gonzales, who is from santa rosa was one of 10 people killed in a plane crash in alaska earlier this month. the small commuter plane went down in the bering sea gonzalez who worked as a power generation technician had to travel a lot to small remote areas. so i was at home waiting to come from. landing from that flight. got a feeling check to flight tracker. there is no new information on it. and i

>> well, in the bottom 3 people are in jail for allegedly kidnapping a patient for a medical facility. according to police. this happened last saturday at a nevada health care center. the suspects eered the back of the facility, kidnap haitian and then assaulted a nurse who tried to stop them. drove off heading toward south nevada boulevard. police were able to find the suspects and the victim unharmed. iestitors later discovered the suspect kidnapped the patient al to fraudulently get conservatorship for financial gain. that's ship is a court-ordered arrangement. giving someone theower to manage another person's finances or personal care. there was also 4th suspect was arrested who police think might have conspired with other suspect to commit a crime. we people they have to find a new place to live after a fire at a san francisco home. look at this 7 on.

i'm not happy with the way that pg&e handled the wildfires. yeah. yeah. i totally, totally understand. we're adding a ton of sensors. as soon as something comes in contact with the power line, it'll turn off so that there's not a risk that it's gonna fall to the ground and start a fire. okay. and i want you to be able to feel the improvements. we've been able to reduce wildfire risk from our equipment by over 90%. that's something i want to believe.
