morning news. 2 people sent to the hospital after a crash in san jose. one neighbors. >> the next crash could be much worse. and a new set of eyes watching for speeding drivers in the city. why some neighbors hope to see what's next. port workers across alameda county are set to go on strike this morning. we're live with their claims of what they call unfair labor practices. it said. good morning and thanks for waking up with us on a wednesday. i'm darya rain in for james this morning. >> now it looks really nice outside, this years our looking for the changes in the trying to read the clouds. >> yeah, reading them today, it's all going to be pretty light out there. it's

definitely cloudy years, though, that it was yesterday at this time. and we're definitely going to be cooler to so feeling a bit more like winter today. let's look outside at what we've got to half moon bay, as you can see out there, pretty overcast. most of our rainfall has been concentrated north of the sonoma county line at this point, we're starting to see a few showers diving south of that line, though. so where is the bay area is still pretty dry as you move up towards willits on up towards ukiah. that's where really starting to see a couple of light showers. santa rosa northward seeing that potential of a quarter of an inch of rain. the rest of us will stay below a 10th of an inch. that's to say really light stuff. nothing more than a few light. sprinkles and showers for the rest of us temperature wise. most of us are hanging out in the 40's to low 50's at the warmest hayward and san jose right at 50 degrees. each 40's in san francisco and oakland as we make our way towards late morning. that's when we'll start to see a few more of those sprinkles brushing right past so just bring that extra layer as venture out, right? all right. something else get you moving out there.

they bridge right now. a 2 minute ride into the city. while our said temperatures at 18. >> there were just 7 fields of 13 and the golden gate bridge. 23 minutes now. 71 and today in the east bay, alameda county superior court employees are going to go on strike. other group representing those workers are standing up against what they claim to be unfair labor practices. robert join hoda is live in hayward with the details. joey? >> well, good morning. yeah, they're already out here. union members just now starting to picket outside the courthouse. now you can see the signs at there holding up. they've been working without a contract since december 31st after their negotiations failed and the issue is they say the superior court employees claiming there's a major problem with under staffing. it's delaying justice, according to the group, one in 5 positions are now bake. it. they say the court using workers who are not trained to fill open courtroom clerk positions and they believe that will harm the public. the outcome they warn could lead to errors which could result in allowing

defendants who are found guilty to go free and could also violate the rights of the innocent. >> care about the public. it's our job. we don't want to send people to jail and we don't want people at their hurting someone because blacked out. >> union rep tells me they're also calling for better pay and bereavement time. but the and again, as for proper staffing, today's frank impacts criminal civil in juvenile courts across alameda county. we've reached out to the court. they're expected to they tell us. i should say that they're going to give giving us some information here that pretty soon this morning and strike is expected to get bigger in the next hour with more of those members begin to show up. it's unclear at this point if court will be able to proceed as regular schedule with all of these people out here later on on strike. back to you and courts are disclosed on monday for president's day. thank you,

the accident has many neighbors concerned that the next time that this happens, it will be deadly. home surveillance camera footage capturing the moment of impact. it shows a car heading southbound on out express way kicking up dirt from the center median before slamming into the car headed northbound. the crash happened just after one 30 in the afternoon and police arrived within just a couple minutes. so we knew that something really significant had happened and one person suffered minor injuries and the other is in serious condition as of tuesday night, michele ferrari came to see the damage for herself. very sound. >> you know, we lead further down in the albany area this you can get some bad driving up in this for certain. she says she's not surprised by the crash. people that people don't respect the speed limit. >> and they. stepped in and out of lanes this particular section about what the expressway is part of a high priority corridor. according to the city of san jose's vision, 0 plan aimed at

activity mostly up in northern sonoma county. so still at this point, north of santa rosa, as you venture up towards healdsburg, this shower activity will dip in a little bit further our direction, but loses steam as it does. so we're right at the cusp of rainfall potential and what that means for us is the north bay. you'll see at least a 10th of an inch of rain. the rest of us less than a 10th inch of it. if seeing a sprinkle it also this mostly moves through late morning, up until around the noon hour after which point things calm down, then generally clear out for the rest of the day. the rest of the forecast after that point, rainfall amounts today for areas like eureka, very significant. santa rosa, the hillsides above you up in sonoma county could see around a quarter of an inch. the rest of us, as i mentioned, staying below that 10th of an inch of rain. this low pressure areas, really it after it moves through high pressure. ridge really builds in and this high pressure. we'll be with us for

today's event. time now is 7.19 in north bay. family is remembering a man who died in a plane crash in alaska. santa rosa native. >> andrew gonzales was among 10 people killed when that plane he was in went down earlier this month and they're sharing their sauce with kron four's lindsey ford. >> is someone that's very hard to define so many things. whitney bowers, the widow of andrew gonzales, says he was selfless soul crushing everyone's at a loss. it is unimaginable. what what is our current reality? gonzales, who is from santa rosa was one of 10 people killed in a plane crash in alaska earlier this month. the small commuter plane went down in the bering sea gonzalez who worked as a power generation technician had to travel a lot to small remote areas. so i was at home waiting to come from. landing from that flight. got a feeling check to flight tracker. there is no new

all right. more than 60 people were arrested in oakland during the weekend of ramped up security for all-star events. police work with chp all weekend long. that's a lot of the arrests were connected to crimes like homicides and robberies and vandalisms opd also arrested 18 dui drivers. they gave out about 180 traffic citations because of the city's budget deficit in actually have helped cover the extra costs of security and patrols. happening jpg. any launches a reliability project in south san jose, which is aimed at reducing safety related power outages. >> this would affect about 10,000 customers. they're going to be relocating about a mile of power lines underground and installing new technology. this is along

today. any sort of weather, impact that we have is going to be very minor compared to what we had last week and a little bit of sunshine above san jose as well. this camera in the south bay looking nice and clear for you. we'll see it in a second. you can see just those little bit of low clouds overhead. it's definitely cloudy. cloudier, the further north you get by the time you reach northern sonoma county, we do have a few light showers up there. now this energy is going to transition further and further southward, but it's gonna lose steam as it does so. so north of the golden gate expect some light showers of a 10th of an inch or more. well south of the golden gate, a few sprinkles and mostly late morning 9, 10, 11 towards noontime today. temperature wise, we're in the 40's to low 50's. cool. start to this morning. definitely cloudier a little bit breezier too. so in to sup 8, that cooler more wintry feel today is the last day that we really do have a lot of these factors in the forecast because after a morning sprinkles will already be clearing up into the afternoon that increasingly

and they drove off towards south novato boulevard. officers were able to locate those kidnappers and the patient who was on harmed and in their investigation, they found that these people wanted to kidnap the patient and fraudulently gets conservatorship for financial game. this is a court order arrangement, conservatorship, where you give someone power to manage another person's finances. there's also a 4th person who was arrested for conspiring with the others title 7.33. in in the east bay berkeley camera shots leveled hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage after a break in a car just rammed into the front. let's take a closer look. now what happened crowd forcefully to call. this is our neighbor's front entrance of that is the mirror image actually of exactly what our front entrance was. >> which is now, you know, kyra, and it looks like this now after jan. what accounts key says thieves used what she believes was a stolen car repeatedly ram through the

the faa representative held a town hall in union city last night. wallace says a lot of people in his district they're living in fear over ice raids and deportation. >> people in that area are stressed out. the stressed out about the cost of living stressed out about housing traffic and congestion. crime and then our immigrant community where 40% of constituents were born outside the united states. there's just a lot of anxiety. >> as well immigration is the number one issue his office works on and he works over 1000 immigration cases a year. >> a man was hit by a car on monday night and union city and now he has died of his injuries. here's video from the night. it happened. eastbound alvarado niles road allenton boulevard. they close that area for hours overnight into tuesday morning as they investigated the driver of the car that struck the man dim stay at the scene. they didn't appear to be under the influence. police it's still

an active investigation. there's a look at teachers and staff in the san ramon valley school district protesting against proposed budget cuts. the district needs to close at 26 million dollar budget deficit. and to do that, leaders want to increase class sizes and eliminate management, administrative and custodial positions. staff are fighting back. >> i think a lot of us feel betrayed. because we understand declining enrollment. we understand budget issues, but we also understand that it's management's responsibility to ensure and safeguard our kids. >> and the management and the staff and union are going to be working together to try to figure out what to do. the district has to reach its budget savings goals so they say that there could be more cuts and there will be challenges ahead. the layoff
