little bit of steam as it continues to roll further southeastward. with that, we are going to be seeing nothing more than a few brief and light sprinkles for most areas. light showers that most 50's, especially on the peninsula this afternoon while the north bay, you're going to see this roll through a little bit quicker. so you're temperatures will eventually roll upwards into the low 60's. all in all today, the cooler cloudy or one of the forecast with those morning sprinkles clearing out drying out by the afternoon. darya. all right. thanks a lot, john. 10 o'clock. and let's go to the east bay where alameda county superior court employees are striking standing up against what they claim. >> our unfair labor practices coffers. joey horta has been live in hayward along the picket lines all morning. what are they claiming? >> in claiming a lot of stuff, daria, right now, i can tell you crowd continues to grow.

there's about 70 of these union members out here continuing to strike there on the picket line. they are yelling, chanting and classical music they are preventing people from coming inside. people been turned away from the courthouse because there's just not enough staff inside to handle those cases today. so i just spoke to a lawyer. he he has to leave. he can't do is work today. they've been working without a contract. these union members say since december 31st ago she asians failed a spokesman for the court, though, says they are still open to negotiating with the union. a strike will disrupt hearings and lawsuits again today. some felons could be released from jail according to the court. if the case cannot be heard before state guidelines union is on strike because they say one in 5 positions are vacant. it's a the court is using using workers who are not trained to work as courtroom clerks. >> we care about the public. it's our job. don't want to send people to jail and we don't want send people at

their hurting someone because of the lack of >> having folks in the court room and that aren't trying can result mistakes. huge airs we make mistakes here. the mistakes affect real people's lives. >> the union rep tells me they're also calling for better pay and bereavement time. but the court says they are overstaffed by about 100 employees and they would have to lay off staff members in order to increase pay. court says filling the vacant roles would depend on the budget set by the governor's office. now, judge thomas nixon tells us, quote, over the last year we have done everything in our power to keep all our employees working by making decisions to cut costs rather lay off employees. so again, if you've got jury duty or are part of a criminal case, you are required to report to

is because 17, gary, one of the most dangerous stretches of road in san francisco, hundreds of people each year get hit by carson. unfortunately, many of them ended up with fatalities because the speed simply too much to survive. and that's the gist the faster you go. the deadly or the possibility of the accident that you might not survive. and that's why they want people to slow down. in fact, we got a chance to talk to a woman. she's the champion behind all of this 14 years ago. her mom got hit and has never been the same since she went to sacramento and fought for the cameras. >> my mom did lead position. she do she's was a impacted by some kind of partial cause ptsd when she's on th streets. but she does. her therapist that we used to work with, told us if we had

valencia street in san francisco. you know, doing they're taken out the bicycle lane that went down the middle that they really just recently tried and it was big bust, according to the businesses. in fact, the businesses along valencia wanted to sue because they said they lost so much business. the bicyclist were supposed to go down the center lane and that made the cars confused and you couldn't take turns. and they said people could get to their businesses and it was a big mess. so they're taking it out a boarding. that idea. and instead going back to the old bicycle lane on the side of the road kind of ideas. i think some bicyclists might have in a little confused to in any event that's going away. it's going to take a couple of months to get all that done. tva coal car accident that shut down out of expressway in both directions here on tuesday. the accident has many neighbors concerned that the next time that this happens, it will be deadly. >> home surveillance camera footage capturing the moment of impact. it shows a car

heading southbound on alvin expressway, kicking up dirt from the center median before slamming into the car headed northbound. the crash happened just after one 30 in the afternoon and police arrived within just a couple minutes. so we knew that something really significant had happened and one person suffered minor injuries and the other is in serious condition as of tuesday night, michele ferrari came to see the damage for herself. very sound. >> you know, we further down in the albany area and this you can get some bad driving up in this for certain. she says she's not surprised by the crash. people that people don't respect the speed limit. >> and they. sept in and out of lanes this particular section about. but the expressway is part of a high priority corridor. according to the city of san jose's vision, 0 plan aimed at reducing the number of traffic fatalities in san jose in 2024. san jose at 49 traffic deaths 2023. >> there were 47. the truth is we're not treating this as a

contra costa county and eventually solano county. this line of showers is holding. all right. but definitely starting to lose a little momentum as it has worked its way further southward. now, as you can see, the down through richmond, among those areas that are currently seeing some of those light sprinkles and even further south from there now, san francisco, as we noted, seeing some of those light showers too. now the general trajectory of this system, as you saw a moment ago, is roland, to the south and east. and that does mean that we will continue to see this light brief shower activity pushing right down the peninsula and right down the east bay as well. you can actually see that occurring right here in future cast, making its way through towards the noon hour. further southward. but continually losing a bit of energy as it does so. so our most significant rainfall has been to the north while much lighter amounts to the south. all of us staying below a 10th of an inch besides those areas of the north banner, upper elevations where in some cases you'll get a quarter of an inch out of today. low

pressure area moves through pretty quickly. and with that leaves us behind with the building high pressure ridge. this ridge is going to contribute to a dry and warming forecast in the rest of the week, the weekend and into early next week. so if you like that, sunshine and warmth just get through today and you'll get there for those of us that like the cooler, more wintry feel do saver today. it's not a bad one at all. some light showers, some 50's and 60's and a little bit of low cloud cover. definitely nothing to cancel any plans over. we will be in the low 60's for the south bay this afternoon with san jose at 63 degrees. hey, we're down through fremont right at 60 upper 50's in the tri valley up through danville, oakland, 60 degrees for your daytime high north day. temperatures rebound pretty nicely with some clearing skies this afternoon. getting you into the low 60's. a look ahead to show daytime highs remaining a little bit on the cool side today. but after today, it is all about the 60's and 70's, especially come the weekend, which will bring some of the warmest numbers we felt in a

while. daria, thanks a lot. it's 10, 18 in a berkeley woman is the alleged leader of a cult like group known as zizians. >> will remain behind bars. she appeared before a judge. so did 34 year-old jack less soda and 2 other cult members. they were ordered held without bail yesterday. the trail was arrested sunday and face charges including trespassing, obstructing hindering possession of a handgun in a vehicle. zizian group is apparently concerned with technology and human cognition and their link to a handful of deaths. their rampage started 2022. police say they killed a vallejo man after squatting on his property and the most recent death right here that they were connected to was a u.s. border patrol agent near the canadian border last month. today pg e launches a real liability project in south san jose. that's aimed at reducing safety related power outages. this has affected about 10,000

customers in the company's going to relocate about a mile of power lines underground and also install new technology along alamuddin expressway and camden avenue. the project addresses the impact of the enhanced power line safety settings, which automatically shut off power to prevent wildfires. officials are saying is part of a broader initiative to improve reliability in san jose. it's 10, 19 right now. and a north bay family is remembering their loved one who died in a plane crash in alaska. his name was andrew gonzalez. he was one of 10 people who died in the crash. kron four's. lindsey ford has more. >> he is someone that's very hard to define so many things. whitney bowers, the widow of andrew gonzales, says he was selfless soul crushing everyone's at a loss. it is unimaginable. what what is our current reality? gonzales, who is from santa rosa was one of 10 people killed in a plane crash in alaska earlier this

month. the small commuter plane went down in the bering sea gonzalez who worked as a power generation technician had to travel a lot to small remote areas. so i was at home waiting to come from. landing from that flight. got a feeling check to flight tracker. there is no new information on it. and i knew something was wrong. bowers never got the call from her husband, andrew. his remains along the others was found by search crews days later. whitney and andrew both grew up in santa rosa and got engaged in moved to alaska back in 2022. >> whitney's close with gonzales is older sister francaise carga who is also grieving, though he's might be my baby brother. this. >> part of our family. all feeling it. all of us goods all as his co-workers, michael burden, jared beaudoin also feel the pain. michael's

well traversed spans. as you can see, san francisco very socked in this is light rainfall. so >> as you're driving around, it's definitely nothing to be concerned about. and it's going to be fairly brief, too. but our rainiest day of the forecast and living up to those expectations. you can see that line of showers now crossing, as i mentioned, right over some of our spans like the bay bridge currently as well as the golden gate and the richmond sandra fell bridge is just make sure to slow down. as you drive up 80 between oakland, berkeley, richmond, up to the that area is pretty wet right now. as you are also seeing down highway one at the coastline, showers will gradually expand a little bit further. southeastward losing a little more energy as that happens. rainfall is going to stay below a 10th of an inch today. so definitely on the lighter side. as far as showers go. now temperatures are currently in the 50's to low 60's. pretty mild out there at the north bay. sonoma, your coolest spot at 48 degrees. so we'll continue to see those light showers and sprinkles up until around noon time for

some areas. and then actually increasingly clear for a lot of us towards the afternoon. >> thanks a lot. new alameda county district attorney ursula jones dickson is now in office. she was sworn in yesterday to replace pamela prize who was recalled in november. kron four's dan kerman has more. >> it different. ready for you >> former alameda county superior court judge ursula jones dickson was sworn in tuesday afternoon as alameda county's new district attorney. jones dickson replaces pamela price, who was recalled in november's election after being accused of not holding criminals accountable. >> and clearly communicating with victims and their families prior to the ceremony, jones dickson discussed are priorities with reporters. >> i think our biggest call is going to be to try to make sure that victims in the community realize that it is our job. this is a victim

is president and ceo of the camera shop on 5th street. she shares surveillance video of the suspects ransacking the place she says they were in and out in less than 5 minutes and were gone before berkeley police officers responded just after 5.30, that morning. it's so much destruction i have no idea what all the costs are at this point. the suspects bypass the blockade in stalled out front, something her landlord added when the business moved into the building in july. would you koski says this is the first burglary at this location and the worst she has ever experienced since taking over the business in berkeley back in 2008 lord installed them knowing that this was a possibility and still. they had an interior roll-up door, which is now just trash. she is just grateful. her landlord immediately stepped in to have the entrance boarded up and her small yet close knit team spent sunday cleaning up and reopened monday. the community has also donated more than

gavin newsom. well, companies are ripping you off all of you from press conferences and they continue to get away with it to social media. big oil's ripping you off to the debate stage. these companies are ripping you off and ripping us off. that's been the governor's message over the last several years, accusing the oil industry of price gouging at the pump. an allegation the industry tonight. just last year, newsom called a special session and signed a new law requiring oil companies to keep minimum oil inventories on hand. before that. we some backed a plan to ban the sale of all new gas-powered cars in the state by 2035. newsom has long argued those regulations will benefit the environment and protect consumers. but chevron heavily disagrees. they're making it hard competitors that used to be here next on show british petroleum. they're all gone. we now have different competitors, marathon valero pbf and some others. but it's an indication that it's not it's it is not going to good

handling the landslides and that because before we get next round today, i don't know if accounts, not too much rain today. yeah. today's parade. >> definitely like to see that there will be some. >> recovery after those heavier rains that we've had through february, it's caught us up in the sierra to right around average snowpack, which has been great. we've got one more little round of that up in the sierra. and of course, our showers here in the day right now, it's raining pretty good in san francisco. you can actually not see very much of the bay bridge at the moment. this line of showers crossing right to the core of the bay as we speak. and with that, some of our heaviest of rainfall is actually right there on the peninsula and over san francisco itself. so areas like around that airport currently on over even ak in the east bay stretching up over highway. 24 on up towards martinez and eastward towards pittsburgh. definitely looking pretty active at the moment. so we are seeing some light showers out there. that's the

way it's going to stay fizzling out as they roll further and further southeastward for the rest of the morning by noontime. we're already seeing some clearing going on in the north bay as well as and east bay afternoon hours actually looking pretty good rainfall today, staying below a 10th of an inch for most areas, high pressure. ridge quickly builds right on back in this low waste, no time exiting the region. and with that high pressure ridge, we have a pretty warm weekend on tap just around the corner. today is the cooler day of this forecast with most of our temperatures actually landing in the 60's today. as for tomorrow will be seeing temps climbing a little bit further into the mid to upper 60's by the weekend. look at some of the 70's that we have on the map. those will be the first 70's we've seen in quite a while and some spots. daria. >> thanks a lot, john. at 10, and the council on american islamic relations, san francisco officer holding a rally today and santa clara announcing stamford's official designation as a hostile

campus. they cite the university's ongoing what they call suppression of palestinian advocacy. they say that there have been arrests, suspensions and restriction of protests. the advocates say that these actions have created a climate of fear for those who are speaking out about palestinian human rights. they say that the impacted students are sharing their personal experiences at today's event. teachers and staff at the san ramon valley school district are protesting proposed budget cuts. the district has to close to 26 million dollar budget deficit and to do that, they want to increase class sizes and eliminate management administrative and custodial positions. teachers and staff, though, are pushing back. >> i think a lot of us feel betrayed. because we understand declining enrollment. we understand budget issues, but we also

understand that it's management's responsibility to ensure and safeguard our kids. the district says it will work with the unions representing the teachers. >> to come to something that works for everyone that they say that there has to be some kind of give and take and that probably some cuts are going to be necessary. in the south bay. the san jose teachers association is calling for the district to make schools safer. the union wants safe and stable schools after what they see as an increase in incidents involving weapons and social media threats across campuses. they did a survey more than 600 teachers and staff who said that they need better support for students and staff staff and that safety is their top priority. in fact, they say they're going to be including that issue and their contract negotiations. there are many phone cases to choose from, but which ones work for what you want? rich demuro takes a closer look.
