the course of the past several days, the reaction has been one of concern, but some muted. because the daily updates have been generally pending in the positive direction and he's been very tough spots before. so i think the reaction in the past few days has been. concerned that some of muted. i think the news from today is going to ratchet up the concern quite a bit. so as we go into the sunday mike parish and i'm sure all the parishes in the archdiocese we're gonna make explicit reference to the holy father will pay for the father. and quite certain that in the coming day in 2 days, that can be a lot more intentional gathering for prayer on behalf of the holy father. >> doctors say the pope required oxygen and blood transfusions. he's being treated for pneumonia and a complex lung infection. and now communities across the world are sending him wishes for recovery. reporter emmy victor has the story.

>> alright, 7.12, this morning live look outside at the beautiful bay. we could see the city of san francisco on the right-hand side of your screen as folks start to wake up this morning, cathy, start to wake up to a lovely sunday. it's the last sunday february. >> and we have an awful lot of clouds. even santa is a mixture of clouds and a little %pbit of sunshine now that the sun has risen. but we'll call it mostly cloudy for much of the bay area. temperatures right now in santa's a 47 degrees. the atmosphere is quite moist. wind is very, very mild, very slight and pretty much everywhere across the bay area. we're in mid to upper 40's in to the low 50's at this hour will rise well into the 60's and maybe a few spots into the 70's this afternoon under mostly cloudy skies. now, if you're in the north bay, well, there's some precipitation, some light isolated showers for you this morning. it could be lingering
7:14 am
a little bit longer than that. a lot of the energy from this storm is really heading up in the pacific northwest and into northern california know to southern not much in the way of clouds and certainly no rain because high pressure is the dominant feature and that is really helping keep systems to our north for the most part. but we are kind of the dividing lines. you can see rainfall amounts are more impressive in eureka say about half an inch through the early part of the week and almost nothing down in santa rosa. maybe 5, 1, 107 inch. yes, we're counting the north bay numbers and one hundredths of an inch. so for today across much of the bay area, we'll call it mostly cloudy. probably no raindrops, certainly not in the south bay, possibly a little bit in the east bay, san francisco. i don't think so. so it's just really the raindrops are not the big story. certainly not for this weekend, but things are going to change. we have several shots of several chances of precipitation. so here we are today, the main mainly above the golden gate. but look at a monday. there is
7:15 am
a chance of some light showers, especially north of the golden gate. once again, not a sure thing, but then a big ridge builds in as a high amplitude ridge. and that warms us up. so by the middle of the week, the story is not about the rain is all about the warm temperatures. well above normal, even 10 to 15 degrees above normal. and this is interesting that ridge starts to move away.eheads over to las vegas. a big old trough is here and watch what happens as that precipitation starts to cut off from the main area of low pressure. there it is. it's a cutoff low and that heads to southern california, but there are a little hard to forecast because they can bounce around a little bit. but so far the forecast models are keeping that away from us. that supposedly is not going affect us. this is our next weekend. this is next week in the very first weekend of the month of march. and looks to be wet. not really. terribly wet because if you look at the outlook, the climate
7:16 am
prediction center shows us through march second, which would be the end of next weekend. normal. so gray is normal for the san francisco bay area little bit above normal off to our east. but they're basically we're going to be about what we should be. but the main feature this week, i think you're gonna notice. is that warm up? all this pink? that is a warm, warm conditions and come tuesday into wednesday. we're really in the pink. so we're going to be well above normal temperatures. quite a departure from normal and that fades away as we head toward next weekend. stephanie. kathy, thank you so much. over the last several years, millions of californians have seen their utility rates go up. >> but now a new bill aims to limit rate hikes from california's investor owned utility companies. capitol correspondent eytan wallace spoke one-on-one with the bay area lawmaker who authored the bill. it's ridiculous, right? and so we need to do something. bay area state senator, i show a hob with that message about utility rates in the state. it comes after the california public
