the east bay tell 5 people including 3 kids will need a new place to live after a fire destroys their home. these are images of firefighters responding to that blaze friday afternoon at a home on bianca drive. investigators say the fire started in the kitchen. they're still looking into the cause. no one was hurt. and new this morning at immigration lawyer indicted for visa fraud. now on her way. back to the u.s. from asia to face charges in san jose denholm chant of atherton spain extradited from here's republic. and according to federal prosecutors, she her ex-husband and business partner genuine. he are accused of getting immigration benefits for more than 100 wealthy foreign investors through the eb 5 visa program. the program allows immigrants to get permanent residency by investing in certain amount in businesses and rule or high unemployment areas with at least 10 american employees. federal prosecutors say gave false documents to the u.s. securities and exchange commission. take a look at

these protesters in berkeley standing up against custer research funding under the trump administration. this is from a rally on friday at u c berkeley. we're told nearly 2000 scientists, professors and activists took part just one of many rallies across the country. researchers are concerned about possible budget cuts. critical institutions like u.s. aid at the department of energy. we're following a developing story now. south bay drivers may be to find a different way to get to their destination monday. vta workers planning to go on strike. the agency tells kron four's rob nesbitt, all trains and buses will be parked. >> the vta says that monday's strike will impact more than 100,000 commuters calling the union's demands for higher wages unreasonable. there is a strike on monday, there will be no light rail service and there will be no bus service. deputy general manager at vta greg richardson gave that grim update friday after the union

for tomorrow. >> and then monday, we'll start to see increasing clouds looking into the future. watches cut off low this area of low pressure cuts off from the jet stream that heads right to southern california. we stay dry and then things change because we'll start to get wet tuesday, especially into wednesday. so is a chance increasing chances of showers on tuesday. here is our wednesday translating to precipitation across the bay area, snow in the sierra. so if you want more snow and mess up the roads for joey, do you go? okay. we'll get a brief break on friday and then more rain comes in again. so gets a little murky as we go further into the of future. but certainly for wednesday, that is the wettest day. it's an impactful amount of rain and the precipitation amounts. most impressive in the northwest corner of the state. and of course, also in the sierra future rainfall totals pretty decent also quite a bit in the sierra. so little bit closer to home. as you can see what we've got going on in the bay area. it's a lot of rain for this time of year as much

as 4 inches. plus in the up santa cruz mountains, but maybe 3 inches right along the water's edge. and in santa rosa and 2, 2, and a half inches in many areas. and that's all the way through tuesday. so 2 to 3 feet fresh powder up in the sierra nevada. we need that first inning. of course, we also need it for the water. so that's great news. if you're going to have only got a good snow pack and you've got great conditions, some powder coming in summit and 79 inches of snow. we a lot of trails open palisades 238 trails for your pleasure. and you can explore all. so if you head up to sugar bowl 103 trails open there and at the summit, 135 inches. joey. kathy, thank you. 7.17 now new this morning. at least 20 people are dead after russia launches an overnight strike on ukraine. >> deadly attack comes just days after the u.s. stop sharing satellite images with ukraine. changes come after a disastrous white house visit

between president trump and ukrainian president volodymyr zelensky. the latest attack hit at least 8 apartment buildings there. ukraine says russia also targeted a nearby fire truck. in the aftermath of that deadly strike. president trump now threatening to hit russia with new sanctions and tariffs. if he doesn't end the war with ukraine. despite the warnings, the trump administration still praising president putin and trump says that he expects him to be generous during peace talks. us and ukrainian leaders will meet in saudi arabia to resume talks on ending the war next week. well, california attorney general rob bonta and more than a dozen other attorneys general are suing the trump administration this time over the mass firings of new federal workers. capital correspondent tom wallace reports. >> this sweeping mass firing. it's simply put. >> california attorney general rob bonta making clear where he stands on president donald

trump's efforts to fire 10's of thousands of new federal government employees. the president has once again overstepped his authority by a mile. and again, we'll hold them accountable. bonta and attorneys general from 19 other states announcing a new lawsuit aimed at stopping mass firings. specifically a federal employees considered probationary, meaning they were either hired or promoted within the last year or 2 and have fewer job protections than other federal workers on to allege is the mass firings that have taken place so far did not follow the law because impacted workers were not given advance notice. he wants those workers reinstated these mass firings impact. people dedicated their careers to serving the public mission-driven workers, something we should be inspiring more people to do not less as of 2024, there were more than 147,000 federal civilian workers in california. fast forward to now. bonta says unemployment insurance claims in the state are up 149% year-over-year.

but the exact number of californians impacted by the firings is not clear because bonta says the trump administration has not provided that information. we think that this effects hundreds and found tension thousands of workers across the state of california and the harm to california is in. >> the millions and tens of millions of dollars. >> in a separate lawsuit that are already brought on this matter, a judge ruled last month the trump administration must stop at the firings across several agencies, but that ruling did not require the administration to reinstate workers who are already fired america is back for the president's part. his administration has since sent out updated guidance informing each agency. they have the final say on personnel decisions. trump has long argued his efforts are meant to save taxpayer dollars and address waste, fraud and abuse in federal government for the national debt has surpassed 36 trillion dollars. we are having great success in slimming down our government. trump appointed veterans affairs secretary doug collins

california. politics found if she runs, she would easily clear the field with more than half of the support among registered democrats. well, reaction this morning now after governor newsom says transgender athletes competing in women and girls, sports is unfair. he talked about it on his first podcast featuring conservative activist and media personality. charlie kirk, san francisco supervisor matt dorsey saying on acts he disagrees with the governor's remarks. dorsey is calling on lgbtq+ leaders and allies to stand with the trans community. many believe this is just a stepping stone issue for newsom's bid for president. >> it was it was politics and its politics team 2020 and i think-anyone we should be too surprised about that. but except for maybe the fact that he did charlie kirk. >> newsom's term as governor ends next year. still ahead on

70's. so there's the ridge and it goes away. an area of low pressure cuts off in the jet stream heads to southern california and then look what's in our future. coming in wednesday, there's rain for the bay area's snow in the sierra nevada and a series of storms possibly after that. more details coming up right now. back to joey. i kathy, thank you. in the north bay parents rally in support of a santa rosa principal who is on leave after a student gets stabbed. >> kron four's terisa stasio reports. >> i strongly believe that this is not the fault of the current principal conception to make this count is upset. she along with several other parents held a rally at the santa rosa city school district headquarters friday morning to protest the district's decision. >> to place principal gabe alba vera on administrative leave. dominguez galvan spoke to me through an interpreter. he is a really good principle

he's been here for a very long time. and i'm honestly sad about this decision. >> district officials placed out of air on leave after a student was stabbed on campus. the victim's father, jesse trujillo, criticized the school and principal alba vera telling kron for news of the school never informed him of what happened. instead he learned of the stabbing from his daughter on friday. trujillo says his son has had multiple surgeries and is going to be under observation again at a hospital kron. 4 news received the statement from the district quote during our investigation. we have learned that the staff took swift action to ensure the safety of everyone on campus and we applaud them for that. however, we have also learned some things may not have been done properly, although this incident contributed to decision, other factors played a role in our decision to place. mister berra on administrative leave, end quote.

police say the ugly dispute started after a family member of the women ran over a potted plant. the women were arrested last month, a bail there are now set to be formally charged. and if convicted and facing up to 3 years in jail at $20,000 fine. a new report now says people living oakland are considering a trip or if they're considering a trip there. i should say they don't feel safe. misses led to dwindling tax revenues that have been falling since before the pandemic. the annual economic indicators report will be presented at next week's economic development summit. regional leaders will discuss and help shape open oakland's fiscal future economists. adam fowler says when it comes to bolstering the economy and oakland, the city's immediate focus should be on public safety and perception along with increasing retail foot traffic and keeping both big and small business in town. >> knowing business closures and relocations outside of

saturday with foggy out there as we start off the day, looking at live pictures here over the >> skyline in san francisco this morning. if you're heading outdoors, let's get an update on what's happening out there from kathy. how's it looking for us? it's looking a little foggy. a little clearer really depends on where you are. some areas are looking just a okay. they're all fine. but, you know, you can see some areas of clouds and fog and then there's some blue skies and we'll all have some mainly blue skies. >> by the time we get through so it's going to be high pressure in control of our weather. and that translates to mild conditions. seasonable temperatures, not much wind and the storms are deflecting north of us for today. and for

tomorrow. and then into monday and then the clouds start to increase. and that's our first chance of rain as a series of pacific storms take aim on california. now, here's the first one. you can see this is an area of low pressure. it's cut off from the jet stream. it went straight to southern california will be focusing, especially on the san diego area. and it'll be the coolest and the most powerful storm they've seen in that area this year. the season. and then we are next. so the next storm really takes aim on us and we'll see a chance of maybe some drizzle or light rain on monday. more likely the rain will arrive tuesday evening into wednesday and wednesday is the powerful storm brings main to us and snow in the sierra nevada. maybe 2 to 2 to 4 feet in the sierra and for us. and really depends on where you are. maybe anywhere from 2 inches to 3 inches and 4 in some of the coastal ranges. by the time we get all the way through wednesday, thursday, friday into the weekend. so it's not all at

morning to protest the district's decision to place principal gabe alba vera on administrative leave. dominguez galvan spoke to me through an interpreter. he is a really good principle and he's been here for a very long time. and i'm honestly sad about this decision. >> district officials placed out of air on leave after a student was stabbed on campus. the victim's father, jesse trujillo, criticized the school and principal alba vera telling kron for news of the school never informed him of what happened. instead he learned of the stabbing from his daughter on friday. trujillo says his son has had multiple surgeries and is going to be under observation again at a hospital kron. 4 news received the statement from the district quote during our investigation. we have learned that the staff took swift action to ensure the safety of everyone on campus and we applaud them for that.

shot coming in and kathy's here everything you need to know about the forecast moving forward. >> hey, joe, you know, matt town was just the gift that keeps getting invariably such beautiful shots. and so is the golden gate bridge. look at that blue skies and some clouds, low clouds. it will all start to burn away as day gets going in. the sun starts to warm things up already where our way with high pressure keeping storms at bay. so today, tomorrow into monday, we're going to stay dry, especially today and tomorrow. if you want to go outside, go for a hike, walk the dogs and dine alfresco today would be a great day to do it. we're warming up now. most areas are in the 40's and we've gotten rid of all the 30's. we're going to be heading toward the 60's this afternoon. here's the area of high pressure with a clockwise flow around that and that is bringing us beautiful conditions for a couple of days and then an area of low pressure heads to southern california. this area of low pressure is going to really focus, especially on san diego. this may be the strongest storm of the season, at least so far for them for

us. we'll start to see increasing clouds on monday and even a chance, a little bit of drizzle, maybe a drop or 2 on monday that really not until tuesday that we really start to see increasing clouds more and the chance of rain. pretty good overnight tuesday night into wednesday. that brings precipitation day after day. it's a series of storms and again into friday, rain for the bay area and snow in the sierra nevada. so overall, it's a pretty good accumulation, especially northern california, specially even into the bay area. some areas in the coastal hills will be over 4 inches along the coast. maybe 3 inches and much of the bay area and maybe 2 inches. plus, so it won't be all at once at some accumulation all the way through the weekend, but still pretty impressive. temperatures today brought a 50's in san francisco and right along the coastline, they shoreline alien the low 60's as you start to head southward. we're looking at little bit warmer. 66 degrees in palo alto. and then there's
