way toward us with a weak storm system passing off to our north. what that storm system will provide us is wind for the day today. another weak storm system, and not even a storm system. it's an area of low pressure. very weak indeed, and that will arrive once again into your thursday morning. so still looking at a pretty dry pattern for the next several days here. by the weekend, that's when our chances really start to go up. lake wind advisory for tahoe from 8:00 a.m. today until 10:00 p.m. tonight. a lake wind advisory for pyramid. that goes from noon until 6. gusting to 40 out of the southwest for the wednesday speeds. ridge tops of the sierra gusting up to 80 miles per hour. 2 to 4-foot waves are possible on those lakes. head up for that wind today. other than that, it's a very warm one with a mix of clouds and sun the still pretty quiet heading through the rest of this week. we'll even lose some of that wind heading through the rest of the week. by the time we get to friday and beyond into the weekend, that's when we have our next potential winter storm system that could provide some shower activity and upper-elevation snow.

the laughs as a police detective in "the naked gun" trilogy. a career spanning almost 60 years. he was 91 years old. turning now to what's trending over on our facebook page, lawmakers in virginia are considering legislation that would allow parents to block their children from reading books in school that contain sexually explicit material or what they think is sexually explicit. they would be the first in the country to allow this kind of censuring. those against the legislation are calling it a slippery slope toward book banning, but supporters say it is a parent's right to control their exposure to media, even if the books are considered classic. under the bill kindergarten through 12th grade teachers would be required to identify certain material as explicit. now, the teachers will be deciding. parents will then have the option to block the book from the kids, and the teacher would have to find something else for that child to read. we're asking all of you on

the body was found where his cell phone last pinged. he was last seen on january 15th. officials rescue team and the dog team made the discover yesterday. they were at sugar bowl conducting training. may was in an avalanche prone area. a woman died while skiing at the resort over the weekend. she died saturday afternoon after falling and sliding down the slopes according to officials. it happened in the head wall area of the resort. she died about an hour later. she was wearing a helmet at the time. reno police continue to investigate a shooting that

the 38-year-old was arrested for open murder. the shooting happened in the 200 block of north virginia street. the men involved where employees there but won't working at the time. the victims and suspect were in some type of argument. the victim was taken to the hospital where he later died. his identity has not ben been release. investigators have not determined the cause of the fire. they said it started in the bedroom. much of the damage was from heavy smoke. one of the biggest days in the presidential race so far. joining us in the studio with a look what we can expect in the

here in western nevada southwest winds 15-20, gusting to 45 at times. temperatures into the low 70s. again 15-25 gusting to 40 but the ridge top could have 80 miles an hour. low 70s upper 60s for the highs despite that wind. not far from 70s in a couple of spots. keep in mind it is march 1st. our average high is 55 degrees. we are well above that average high. dealing with those winds still dry. heading through wind and thursday temperatures still above average we will cool down every so slightly. by friday our rain chances start to pick up and look best by the

not an actual new highway that exists it will be six, seven plus hour trip. reno police continue to investigate a deadly shooting that happened on sunday night. the shooting happened inside the casino on the 200 block of north virginia street. surveillance footage shows the victim and suspect in an argument before the shooting. the victim was taken to the hospital where he later died. an update by reno police. they are still looking for two men who roughed up an elderly man. they located a suspicious vehicle that maybe related to the burglary. it happened near the 1400 block

an older gentleman suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. police previously told us that the first suspect is a light skinned hispanic male. the second is a hispanic male with a tattoo on one of his forearm. convicter killer asked the board to release him from prison after killing his wife susan. he is hoping to get parole. >> what was the need to bag her up and dump her in the desert? >> in a pack room with the family and members of his own

he killed susan because of anger issues. he said he was sorry for his actions and the pain he has caused. the mother and the victim's mother asked for different outcomes. the seven member parole board will make a decision. a search for a missing ski instructor. the body of 23-year-old carson may was found buried under five feet of snow. he went missing at sugar bowl ski resort. he was skiing off duty at the resort. the officials and the dog team made the discovery yesterday. they were conducting some training.
