we're learning more about a man killed in a mobile home park. we'll give you the first look at the man police identified as the attacker. thank you for joining us for fox 10 news at 5:00. we will begin with a news alert. maricopa county sheriff's deputies are investigating what they call a violent death of a 3-year-old. >> it happened in youngtown late last night and we're working to get more danielle miller is live at the home with what we know so far. danielle? >> reporter: nicole and marc, we don't know a whole lot at this time. mcso telling us this crime was against a 3-year-old child, a violent homicide out here. they are not saying much more than that. it was at this house last night. the only thing we're hearing from neighbors is there was several children who lived in the home with the mother.

long hours. they said she wasn't home too much, as you can imagine being a nurse there are long hours. we're being told there were five children who lived in the home, including the 3-year-old. the 3-year-old is a boy and he was -- some neighbors tell us the 3-year-old child was autistic. mcso not confirming any of these details. this is what we're being told from responsible for this crime, not sure if there is an outstanding suspect. they are telling us we might not get any updated information until tomorrow. when we get updated information, we'll bring you the latest as it becomes available. danielle miller, fox 10 news. we're also getting our first look at the man accused of murdering a couple at a north

neighbors tell us 37-year-old brandon southerland kill his own mother and stepfather. they were killed at their home. southerland was a former u.s. marine. we'll keep you updated as we learn more about this case as well. about a week ago, we told you about a man shot and killed at a c police now have an idea who they are looking for. these are the two guys who might have more information. it was last saturday that the man was shot outside of the store. police are asking the public if they have information about these two to call silent witness at 480-witness. a scary scene for a family at lake pleasant this morning. when they put their boat into a water, the boat caught fire.

a family of a family of three looking for a new place to live after their home caught fire early this morning. >> they did not have any working smoke detectors in the house but they were able to get out safely in the nick of time. courtney griffin has more. >> reporter: this house off of 14th street and mckinley

thankfully, one person was inside was awake to notice the smoke since they did not have smoke detecters. >> that is the safing grace is she was up, smelled the smoke, she was awake, smelled the smoke, heard noises and investigated and was able to get the family out to safety. a huge deal. >> reporter: another woman and young boy were inside when it caught fire. they all made two dogs but two cats did not make it out. she was asleep when it started. >> i got up and i opened the door and she was l ke get out, get out. >> reporter: she never thought something like this would happen to her. >> you don't expect, when you go to sleep to wake up to something like that. it is like the most messed up feeling because it is your stuff.

night before and then you wake up to that and it is like, wow. >> reporter: she is thankful for firefighters. >> i heard her about 7:00 and they got here at 7:02. they were here and as soon as they got here, they were on it. >> reporter: the home has smoke damage but not a total loss. >> they prevented the fire from spreading and saved 80%-90% of the home. hospital but firefighters say it was just as a precaution. phoenix fire wants to remind you always have a working smoke detector in your home. a family of three out of their home also after an early morning fire tore tears through. firefighters say a man, woman, their daughter and a cat and dog all made it out safely. crews say most of the fire was in the garage area. they were able to save most of the home.
