expected. >> when -- witnesses saw toady gaines gibson dragging a woman by the hair. when somebody tried to stop him, there was some serious injuries there. today a settlement conference was set today which means he could make a deal with prosecutors. he is accused of running down steven richardson, an iraq war veteran that wanted to help that woman out. tried to intervene when he saw gibson dragging his girlfriend wi richardson was so badly injured that he end ended up in the icu. >> i take full responsibility. but he just shouldn't have got in our business. if he minded his own business, he wouldn't be in the hospital. i wouldn't be here. >> so that was the suspect in the case. again gibson charged charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault and leaving a hit-and-run and unlawful imprisonment. >> an unusual chase unfolding in the east valley overnight.

in a stolen tow truck. you don't hear that very often. these pictures here from our adot camera showing the pursuit westbound on the i-10 heading into phoenix. after the suspect there headed eastbound then on the loop 202, that's when officers deployed spike strips to puncture the tires. the guy continues to drive even after the tow truck caught fire. he jumped out of the vehicle and tried to take off on kyrene and chandler in the east valley. that's when a cane took him down. >> he got down here and the guy said, you know, this is a best damn tow truck i ever stolen. they had to chase me for four hours. >> pretty wild story. he was taken to the hospital to be checked out and once he is released he will then be taken to jail. celebrating for recreational pot advocates doesn't last long. now facing a major challenge in court today. steve krafft joins us live in-studio. so yesterday we found out that

to get it on the ballot and another group wants to keep it off. >> that's exactly what's going on. opponents of the regulation and tax sftion marijuana act are urging a judge to bar the initiative from the november ballot. that's superior court hearing this afternoon. despite the group getting more than enough signatures. the proposition needed about 150,000 valid signatures to get on the ballot. supporters filed 250,000. the secretary of state said over 177 thr 177,000 signatures are valid. there is argued the 100 explanation on petition sheets does not fully explain the effects of the legislation. so the argument goes people who signed it didn't understand what they were signing. supporters counter they did know what they were signing, legalizing recreational marijuana for adults with regulations like colorado and washington and alaska.

proposition backers if the initiative is approved, marijuana would be regulated like alcohol. if it were approved, anyone 21 or old core buy up to an ounce of marijuana or grow up to six plants for personal use and the drug would have a 15% tax. proposition 205 would establish licensed shops around arizona for the sale of marijuana and those sales would be taxed similar to the way the law works in those other states. much of the tax mon go to k-12 education. reporting live, steve krafft, "fox 10 news." thank you steve. a judge has disqualified a substantial amount of signatures gathered for ballot initiative to raise arizona's minimum wage. the signatures were tossed because some of the people didn't register with the state. others had felony convictions. opponents are challenging about 70,000 signatures out of the 240,000 that were turned in. the initiative needs 150,000 to qualify for the ballot.

increase to $12 by the year 2020. the family of zach amila, an arizona wildcat football player who died this week will lay him to rest in a private funeral service. he was found dead on monday after he didn't show up to practice. it's believed the 22-year-old died in his sleep. yesterday afternoon the public had a chance to say good-bye to that wild cat lineman at a viewing in tucson. one asu sorority seen some backlash for recruitment video they posted the sorority posted 3 1/2 minute video featuring the sorority sisters hot air ballooning and skate board in the middle of the desert. even riding the helicopter. some are finding fault that the video shows nothing about academics. what people are really shocked about is the price tag on this video. some reports estimate it was anywhere between $200,000 to

we all have been on a turbulent flight before and it's not fun. new details coming in about the jetblue flight that sent two we are hearing from a passenger who said hours later he was still dazed and in shock after being thrown in the air. take a listen to this. >> well, i went flying way up in the air and my laptop flew up in the air and there was stuff flying the whole -- the storage thing up on top opened up completely just for a second and flew out. a bunch of people got hurt and stuff fell down all over them.

the olympics. caught on camera, violent attack on two gas station clerks. wait until you see this video. let's roll it for you. the two robbers walked into the florida city store and one starts swinging a baseball bat. and look at this. swinging the baseball bat at the two clerks. they get behind the counter and 9 guy with the bat swinging and the second guy grabs the cash out of the register and the clerk say forget this. they tried to protect themes and the robbers got away with $300. all of this stuff and you know now they are caught on individual yeesm strong armed robbery. assault and all of those things. police are hoping this video will get these two behind bars. >> the clerk grab the bat and start going after him. good for him. >> go after someone with a bat, you better be ready to have it come back at you. >> the battle rages on. why herd did not appear for a deposition today in l.a. >> remember that computer outage at southwest a couple of weeks ago? staggers amount of money. we mentioned this.

let's take a peek. as you look off to the north, that's it that's where the action is. the high country and on up around i-40 it's been kind of busy. so we will show you who is seeing those showers here in just a moment. it's warming up. 96 at sky harbor. and i have a feeling we will find ourselves moving toward the normal high for this time of year and i don't think we will get quite to that number. the 65 degrees on the dew points. not quite as juicy as it's been the last couple of d still thick out there 105. there is the norm and the record 115, that coming on this day in 2012 and you look across the west things are starting to dry out a bit. it's going to be a great weekend across california and nevada in fact i think up into seattle and portland they will see some good weather. still again humid enough to catch a few showers here in arizona. although they haven't snuck into the valley. i think we may escape the day without too much in the way of rainfall. you don't have to go very far to

from new mexico back into nevada some we will put things in motion for you here and show you what we are talking about. across the valley no rain right now although dotted around to the west of us we do see a couple of thunderstorm cells and look like pretty good ones and we will move things on out here toward the colorado river and around lake havasu city and eastward you will find the rain really pushing kind of on a nice lateral flow so from west to east and we will just take right on out i-40 and south of there. this is the corridor where most things are happening. although up around black canyon city you might want to keep your eyes to the west a shower headed in your direction. as you move farther to the rim country from payson over to christopher creek, christopher creek seeing a nice shower south and west of town. heads up, cbq you may catch some showers and then on over toward
