dumped nearly two feet of rain in some areas. >> well, there have been some dramatic rescues, like a woman and her dog stuck in their flooded convertible. more than 10,000 people are in shelters. >> and at least six people have now died from this flooding. today some people in arizona moving in to help out. red cross volunteers in our state are right now on their way to louisiana to help those flood victims. one group leaving t headquarters just a few hours ago, driving a louisiana response van to hand out food and splice. the volunteers will be there for about two weeks. >> outstanding work from all of the people that were involved. that's what you call heroism, if you put yourself alone the line like that. i guess they felt like giving something back to the community, and my wife says this gets me out of the house, so --

500 volunteers headed to louisiana. new pictures from baton rouge, the u.s. coast guard rescuing stranded residents, in these pictures a small child was stuck on the roof a submerged house. look at this, pulled up to safety. rescue crews have rescued more than 1,300 people in the past days and assisted 700 others. if you haven't seen this, have to show you one of the rescues in louisiana where a woman and a dog were rescued from a convertible. you see this guy run into the water here, breaks the car windows, eventually cut through the convertible's cover, and that's when he started pleading with them to save her dog. >> got her out, amazing. >> yeah, and she said my dog is down there. moments later the man is able to pull the dog from the water.

here. southwest mississippi received more than 13 inches of water thursday and friday and there have been thousands of rescues. >> i'm heartbroken. i'm heartbroken. it's my home. this is where i grew up. my grandmother and my grandfather and my aunt lived in that house. >> it has been just devastating. more flooding is expected across the southern part of louisiana today. rivers are reaching high levels and not here in the valley, a different type of water rescue, and this one is not good. a pair of two-year-old twins from tempe in critical condition pulled from a hot tub over the weekend. it happened yesterday morning in a neighborhood near priest and warner. firefighters say the toddler somehow their their way outside and got into a hot tub. it reportedly had no barrier around it. it's not known how long the boy

they were taken to cardin medical center in critical condition. rebar falls on a victim's bag and legs near guadalupe in pinal county. he was alert and talking when he was taken to the hospital. a man is stabbed to death early this morning in phoenix. police were called to a parking lot at 7th avenue and camelback. it was around 4:00 this morning. witnesses told police that some transients were fighting over a piece of property. one person had been detained. police are looking for the after a deadly hit-and-run, and the victim was a woman in a wheelchair. hit near 48th street and mcdowell, and the truck driver did not stop. so, again, this is a hit-and-run. the woman was in her fifties or sixties. he was rushed to the hospital but she was pronounced dead. police did not have a good description of the truck, only, again, that it it is a dark-colored truck. investigators trying to figure out why a vacant mobile home went up in flames. firefighters were called to 67th avenue and van buren.

the fire spread to two other trailers. the flames melted an srp power line, knocking out power to neighbors nearby. for the first time in a long time, maybe you have noticed, the average price for a gallon of gas in arizona drops below two bucks a gallon, gasbuddy.com releasing new numbers this morning, saying prices have dropped $0.05 in the last week. so here we are, $1.96 average. analysts say you can expect low prices to stick around for the rest of the year, barring a huge event like a hurricane or something interrupting the oil supply. >> we have seen it as low as 1.69 in some places. >> not bad. live pictures here from our tower cam high above south mountain, the advisory because ozone levels are high, making it hard for some people to breathe, including children and folks

last year's blaze destroyed 1,300 homes, killed four people. this fire is 5% contained. the cause is under investigation. a judge could rule as early as today whether or not the recreational marijuana ballot can be on the november ballot. a group is suing to keep it off. a resident could possess up to an ounce of marijuana and grow up to six plants. opponents say petitions to get the prop on the ballot initially, when they went up and asked people will you sign this petition, were misleading by not providing the full explanation, and they also say that the dispensaries that are set up right now for medical marijuana, they unfairly get the first crack at selling this recreational marijuana. but the campaign to regulate marijuana like alcohol says the

starting to pop up near flagstaff, but as far as the valley is concerned, there's not much happening in town. it's going to be on the dry side. we'll see a little bit of rain in the high country. we do remain under the ozone advisory until 9:00 tonight, so keep that in mind if you are prone to the troubles that come with a day like this today, will not be your day. 99 in kingman, 95 in safford, look at how it's already heating up along the colorado poor havasu and bull head, going to be a tough day, 110 in yuma. here in the valley, not a whole lot better. 110 in old town scottsdale, the same out wickenburg way. a quick look around the rest of the country shows there's plenty of misery to go around. we are going to see about 95 in d.c. today, it looks like 91 in new york city, 95 in charlotte as well, and we continue to see this heavy weather rolling up

missouri, illinois, indiana and ohio now sneaking into pennsylvania too. but we have, as you know, seen some really troublesome weather here across louisiana, and we are starting to see the redevelopment of showers and thunderstorms in a place where they really don't need another drop. and we have got clear skies going, no big change there perhaps until thursday, but i do want to give you a quick look at how much rain has fallen across the gulf here. it's almost this is not far from baton rouge now. look at these numbers. this is a look at the last 48 hours. troy had mentioned some spots up to two feet, but 11.2 inches of rain, just since noontime on saturday. it's just outrageous. well, anyway, that's the way things are going there, and then unfortunately more rain is in store for that part of the nation. but there's the way the day will wrap up. we'll call it 114 for lake
