skimming, taking your credit or debit card information when you fill your tank, it's happening in arizona, how you can protect yourself. donald trump offers up his plan to combat terrorism and make america safe again. huge lines, thousands of people cramming into the university of phoenix stadium, the big attraction they are all paying to see. thank you for joining us tonight at 10:00. it may be costing you more at the pumps than you realize. skimmers are on the rise in arizona. that's a crook that rigs a gas pump so that it steals your credit or debit card information. ty brennan talked to an expert tonight. he joins us live with what you need to know. ty, this isn't something that most of us would be on the lookout for. >> yeah, but you do really need to start checking out for this, checking your card statements,

your credit card at any of these gas stations. right here behind me at circle k and 27th in glendale, that is where one of the skimmers were found, and one expert says they are seeing a huge uptick in the amount of credit card skimmers abdomen the state. this bundle of cables and wires may not look like much to the untrained eye, but these are being used to steal your money when you fill up at the pump. >> crooks are very ingenious make it work for their benefit. >> he's the director of the department of agricultural, which oversees the weight and services division. so far this year, the department has found 40 credit card skimmers all over the state. just this month, they found 12. to put this problem into perspective, killian says they only found a total of 11 skimmers in all of last year. .

trying to stay ahead of the crooks, and it's very difficult because they change technology as fast as we figure out what they're doing. >> technology has made it almost undetectable to tell if a pump has a skimmer installed. killian says the best way to protect yourself, start asking questions. >> wherever you fill up for gas, you should go into the station and ask them how often they check for skimmers. that's really important. because that lets the fuel distributors know that the and if they're being questioned about that, that's going to help them do what they need to do. >> and killian gave me some advice tonight. he says never use your debit card at one of these gas pumps, because if you put in your p.i.n., then those crooks immediately have access to your account. he also says to check your bank account regularly to make sure there are no fraudulent charges. he also says the west best way

use cash. reporting live tonight, ty brennan, fox 10 news. a man's vacation in arizona does not epidemic -- not end the way he expected. kenneth walton says he and his 7-year-old daughter were on their way to the grand canyon when they were pulled over on the i-40. the rental car they were driving came back with stolen license plates. moments later a trooper approach opened the door. walton says that's when the trooper pointed a gun at the little girl. he tried to calm the girl. >> my daughter was trying to help. she lurched forward, and he yelled at her, waved his pistol in front of her, yelled at her to stay down and not move. my hands were in the air, and he

waist or i'll blow a hole this your back. >> walton posted on social media about the situation and it's gone viral. he says he wants an apology from d.p.s. and the rental car company. meanwhile, d.p.s. says the trooper didn't know there was a little girl in the car at the time. craigslist of course used to be the main site for these types of sales, but there's other apps that are popping up, and that means there are more chanc crooks to rob people. police say any exchanges that are arranged online should naples a public area during the daytime and you should also bring a friend or family member with you, and if you feel unsafe, turn that deal down. police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who killed a woman who was in a wheelchair and just took off. witnesses say the woman was hit early this morning near 48th street and mcdowell and kept

partner organizations have knocked on 1 million doors and made 987,000 voters. the plan is to increase these numbers with the campaign. self-driving cars could be hitting the road sooner than you think. we'll explain. today the public met with the self-driving vehicles oversight committee at its first meeting. they discussed the benefits of having self-driving vehicles in arizona, and the director of a.d.o.t. says there's still a lot of work to be believes these cars can make our roads safer. >> as more and more people are using these devices and getting used to them, i think you're going to see a progression where they are getting more comfortable with giving control to the vehicle. >> governor doug ducey says the self-driving vehicles will create jobs and boost the economy. crowds stood in long lines to see guns n' roses campaign,

congratulations to the family. they really need it. the great news is gabrielle is now aware of her surroundings, on her way to a great recovery. kristy siefkin has been following the story of a man that a lot of people have been interested in, weight loss the old-fashioned way. >> after weight loss, a lot of people do have the extra skin. it doesn't matter what you eat, how away. possible pat had several feet of excess skin removed from his body. we actually have images from inside the operating room. take a look. pasquale bracho has lost over 300 pounds. his rigorous exercise and strict diet still leaving him with handfuls of excess skin. >> it was just like a big thing to him. he still kind of felt a little insecure about situations like that with the skin.

there's a voluntary evacuation order now in place. more than 11,000 people are still in shelters, and there have been at least seven deaths reported. your exclusive accuweather forecast with dave munsey on fox 10 news. now, they have a real bad situation there. it's still raining. it's going to rain several days during the rest of this week. >> wow. >> it's a real bad problem for them. in fact i have got an app up right now. we can take a look and see that that moisture, as you can see here, continues to flow into this area, and it's almost like that's where it's going, and you can see it's still coming in. it has continued to do that through the day today, and it has continued to do that since last week as well. and now we are going to take a look at some of the numbers that we are picking up. i have only gone back 12 hours. remember, they have had up to 30 inches of rain in some areas, and take a look here, right by houston, one and four tenths,

here, we have three inches south of memphis, almost four and a half south of chicago, and almost one and a half inches just to the east of that. we put the futurecast into motion, take a look at it. moisture continues to flow in through the week. we get you all the way up to thursday where we are still watching moisture flow in to that area. it's 100 degrees here. we have a southeast breeze at five miles an hour right now. 97 in scot surprise, 98 up in deer valley, 94 degrees in ahwatukee. a little bit of moisture around. not much of that stuff left. you see a little bit over by payson, a little bit up by flagstaff, but that stuff is basically drying out almost as fast as it is running through, still hanging on, a little bit up in the flagstaff area, a little bit also hanging on in the white mountains today. but a lot of that stuff has evaporated out.

live from fox studios, fox 10 news is back. well, if your kids go to a school in the florence unified school district, chances are they have seen the sign that reads inmate work crews on premises. that's because the school district has hired inmates from florence state prison to do landscaping all around the school. they are also screened and under strict supervision. they are paid $0.50 an which saves the school district money. the parents are told not to worry as they won't work during the school year. >> they work on intercession, summer break, things like that. they painted the inside of the building at san tan, foothills high school. >> they have been running the program since 2002 and have not had any problems. the new law building on the

construction. the new $129 million law school is 280,000-square foot at a.s.u.'s law school. senator john mccain spoke at the grand opening. the campus was previously in tempe. looking to take a camaro and turn it into a high performance hybrid, part of a competition with 16 universities taking part, roughly 45 students are this year the goal is to make the camaro turnover, also integrating smart technology to alert the driver of hazards out on the road. >> this is mainly for assisting the driver to make the driving conditions more comfortable and at the same time trying to make the experience more safe. >> the students say by next year, the car should be a fully functioning, fully performing
