good evening, everyone. we're on top of two developing stories tonight. a young girl rushed to the hospital after being hit by a police cruisers in phoenix. gunfire at a tempe warehouse, one person left dead and another in custody. it was a heartbreaking situation. >> a little girl left in bad shape after being hit by a police car. this happening near 75th avenue kristy siefkin is live with the details. how did this happen, kristy? >> reporter: such a sad situation, john and kari. the little girl was running across the street to an ice cream truck and that is when the collision happened. she is in extremely critical condition. we just found out she is in surgery. c.t. scan showed she needed to

neighbors saw police cars responding. that vehicle colliding with the little girl. we spoke to a little girl who lives on the other side on where the accident happened. he placed a call to police when he found out there were a couple of abandoned dogs at the property next door and he was concerned that when police were responding to his call that is when the accident happened with the little girl. >> accidents happen. it happens, you know what i'm saying. she saw the ice cream truck and kids jump across the street. i can imagine. it is going to hurt them, yes. hopefully, she is ok. do you know anything about her? >> reporter: we don't have an update. >> i went home and said a prayer for her. i did. i went to my pray.

prayed. >> reporter: obviously, that man very shaken up. a lot of neighbors wondering what happened. once again that little girl in surgery right now in phoenix children's hospital. we're waiting for an update from phoenix police. i'm kristy siefkin, fox 10 news. turning to another developing story where police are investigating a fatal shooting at a warehouse complex. we're learning the gunfire stemmed from two men. the victim's name has not been released. the suspect turned himself into a nearby fire department and is in custody tonight. serial shooter has beener the terrorizing phoenix neighborhoods and he has not been caught. phoenix police held a meeting on the serial shooter who has not

seven killings, including a 12-year-old girl. >> i hope they trip themselves up. i hope they run a red light and get caught for running a red light or not turning a turn signal or some infraction like that. >> he appears to be random in targeting so i advise everyone to be vigilant are. >> this is the sketch they have. the gunman is a young hispanic man. he is believed to use several different vehicles in the attacks, which is a late 1990's model black bmw and a white cadillac or lincoln has been seen. if you have any information, you're asked to call silent

for any information that leads to the arrest of the shooter. a first-alarm fire breaks out at an apartment complex in mesa tonight. the fire was in the attic of a building. they were able to knock it down and keep it from spreading. the cause is under investigation tonight. there was a lot of damage. wildfire in the forest has exploded tonight. conditions are horrible forcing 82,000 people to evacuate their homes. the blue cut fire, as it is called, burning near a -- a hone pass and two firefighters were hurt but they are expected to be

bernardino county. a huge scare for the cardinals an the bird nation. head coach bruce arians has been taken to the hospital. >> jude lacava with the latest on this. jude, arians is a key to this who whole thing. >> reporter: this afternoon in san diego, the cardinals were preparing to practice with the chargers. bruce arians was set and ready to go on stadium but never made it to the field. let's find out what played out. richard saenz with the cardinals in san diego. >> reporter: yeah, jude, an interesting night at qualcomm stadium. everyone excited because of the joint practice because the cardinals and chargers practicing together. you look around and b.a., head coach bruce arians is nowhere to be found.

still don't see the cardinals' head coach. shortly after that, the cardinals sent out a statement explaining how the head coach was suffering stomach pains. he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. people are hoping it is a better safe than sorry situation. you have to remember that the coach is in his 60's and is a colon cancer survivor. the hot topic after practice, not health of their head coach. >> we heard he is doing better. he is in some discomfort so we're always concerned for him. he is our leader. he is the heart beat of our team and we wish him a speedy recovery. >> reporter: what within through your mind when you heard he was at the hospital? >> life is short and when you hear that, it makes you step back and reflect. prayers are up for him.

you know it as the home we all know it as the home of the arizona diamondbacks. tonight, a new twist in the fight over the future of chase field. >> that's right. the board of directors is considering selling the stadium to a private group. ty brennan joins us with the details. >> reporter: maricopa county officials will meet tomorrow to

selling chase field to a private company that approached this temp. there has been a lot of bickering back and forth between the diamondbacks and maricopa county who owns chase field where the diamondbacks play. the diamondbacks say the stadium, which was built in 1998, is in need of repairs and fixes totaling over $100 million and the county says they can't afford it. >> in terms of tools in the tool box, we can like a city can. we don't have the tools that are needed to make the renovations that the diamondbacks are suggesting. >> reporter: a county supervisor for district five says the county has been approached by a private company to purchase chase field. the number floating around is around $60 million although the stadium was built back in 1998 for over $300 million. he says the board of is supervis

to help the flood victims. they will be handing out water and other supplies helping community reunite with family and friends. closer to home, the drought across much of the southwest take its toll on lake mead and powell. no water restrictions for lake mead at least for the next couple of years. they are looking at 2018 as a problem spot but the water stayed above four water restrictions. they are worried about the longterm prognosis. if there is not enough storms to fill the reservoir, deliveries in nevada and arizona could be affected. those affected most would be arizona farmers. they think down the line it could be a problem and farmers could see a 50% cut in their

we're right in the middle of moving and we have come so far to get here. i hope and pray they find him and justice is served. >> again, the suspect, bowman was last seen driving a 2008 silver chevy pickup truck with black rims. it has an arizona license plate that reads 37ozzy. there is a skull sticker on the back window. if you have any information, call 911 of a man by maricopa county sheriff deputies. it was a bb gun that he pointed through the window at deputies in apache junction. deputies say the bb gun looked similar to a handgun. the shooting happened while they were trying to serve a search warrant. he had a warrant out in pinal

violations. the parents of three young girls hurt in a ferris wheel accident in greenville, tennessee are talking about it tonight. the basket tipped over and sent the girls falling 45 feet to the ground. the parents say the whole experience was a nightmare. they thought their girls had died in the accident. >> i was in complete shock and trying to get to m enough. there are no words that can describe what your feeling at that moment there is just not. i think about it and i want to cry. >> the 6-year-old girl suffered traumatic brain injury in the accident. she is now in stable condition. the 10-year-old sister suffered a broken arm. remember the horrible spill,

summer that turned the water this horrible yellow color? the navajo nation is suing the e.p.a. over this. a federal contractor triggered the spill while trying to clean up the mine causing three million gallons of toxic sludge to spill into rivers in nevada, utah, and new mexico. the tribe says the e.p.a. has failed to company them for their losses or help with the losses. donald trump can not seem to stop hemorrhaging in the poll numbers. he is lagging behind in most of the key swing states. trump is working to get back on message and many think he did so in wisconsin ditching a traditional rally to make more of a policy speech about the repeat violence in milwaukee and the issue with policing of african-american commune phipps

a puppy takes a tumble a puppy takes a tumble into a phoenix canal and is saved by a police officer. the australian shepherd mix trying to get a drink from the canal. she fell into the water and got swept away by the current, nearly drowned. an officer saw the dog and after several attempts, the officer was able to rescue the pup. she was not wearing a collar and did not have unless someone comes forward, the good news is she already has a home waiting for her. if someone comes forward saying she is ours thank they live g h- give her to that person. >> the police officer who spotted her wants to make her part of his family. >> the police officer wants to remain anonymous.

three players taken off of the pup list and than we get to the stadium and bruce arians is m.i.a., missing in action. both teams come together in the middle of the field and no and that is when concern set in. news broke that coach was experiencing stomach pains. he is a colon cancer survivor. i have to admit, practice wasn't something didn't seem right. still a cool night in san diego. the fans seemed to have fun but after practice, almost every player thinking of their leader, head coach bruce arians. >> he is a presence, you know. it was different without him being out here. i know whatever he is going through, he is trying to be tough and come back. he wants to be back here tonight and watches film.

latest tonight. >> reporter: marc, such a sad story. this little girl going outside to enjoy an ice cream cone in the summer heat and walking across the street, she was hit by a police car. the little girl heading westbound. police were responding to a call in the area about a couple of animals in distress. as she was leaving the car, she was driving down the street, saw the ice when the 3-year-old girl ran out in front of the police car. we're told this is an eight-year member of the police force. it was the middle of her shift. we talked to a neighbor who placed the call, the reason the officer responded in the first place. he was distraught when he put two and two together realizing his call might be the reason
