the commute home. if you're headed into the northwest valley, you might have slow and go tonight. after the stormy weekend we had, especially yesterday with the big dust storm moving in, it looks like it is not over yet. >> this has been an active season. dave is here with a look at the radar and what we can expect. >> reporter: lots of moisture around the west, northwest, northeast valley. some of the hardest hit areas, you can see the storm system it is heading in a northeasterly direction. 1.4 south of peoria. 1.2, we get up to .8 as well north of the peoria area. one of the hard hit areas was the area, you can see the storm system rolling through for there is sun city with the heavy moisture coming through that

serial street shooter. >> phoenix police say the shooter has killed seven people but this victim was not hurt despite being fired upon at close range. he spoke to andrew hasbun who joined us live from police headquarters. he is lucky to be alive. you hear that term a lot but he really is. >> reporter: he sure is, kari. today, police released the report about the shooting that happened to this victim back in july. he was 4-year-old nephew when the shooter pulled up and opened fire. out of fear of retaliation, he did not want us to reveal his identity. the suspect is a light-skinned hispanic man. police drew up on the story of a 22-year-old who survived a july 11 shooting. >> i believe it was god's deliverance that the lord jesus

>> reporter: according to the police report, the victim was driving south near 30th street and thomas. the victim saw an hispanic male in his 20's who gave the victim a threatening look. >> he looked directly at me like i'm looking at you right now. >> reporter: within seconds, the shooter fired three shots. >> after he fired, i immediately ducked down and reached out from my never knew only thought was to get away. >> reporter: the serial shooter is responsible for seven deaths. the victim hopes his description will help police make an arrest. >> i don't know. i would be interested into knowing why. >> reporter: the victim told us that the suspect was driving

1990's. anyone who can help catch this suspected serial shooter should call silent witness. the reward is still at $50,000. reporting live at police headquarters. i'm andrew hasbun, fox 10 news. a security guard at a motel 6 shoots and kills a robbery suspect. it happened this morning near 52nd street and van buren. the guard was watching the confronted them and the guard shot one of the men and the other got away. if you have any information on the man that got away call silent witness, 480-witness. another shooting at mcdowell road. two men and a woman were in the room and there was a knock at the door.

after the man who knocked on the door was killed. this is a local story that has turned into a national story. a gilbert man in jail. he is accused of killing his roommate. zachary penton called police to turn himself in. he said his roommate threatened to kill him. >> just two days before the murder, the suspect sent this out on twitter. a t to move out of my place before i viciously kill my roommates. >> reporter: 21-year-old zachary penton is here. he is looking at second-degree murder charges. neighbors say it is sad and tragic but not a surprise.

the neighborhood will be safer now. >> reporter: zachary penton is being held on $70,000 bond. steve krafft, fox 10 news. a denver man is formerly arrested for allegely shooting at police during a chase that stretched through four cities. police say last month, he pulled up to fired a gun into the air. officers fired him into goodyear where he shot at police there. the officers shot and stunned him before taking him into custody. u.s. attorney's office in arizona is reviewing a case that is practically unhead of after a judge is recommending federal prosecutors bring criminal contempt charges against sheriff joe arpaio.

most attorneys have never heard of a judge referring a case to federal prosecutors, let alone a judge recommending criminal charges against a top law enforcement official. as the attorney's office reviews the case, demonstrators were outside demanding prosecution. this is what the protesters want for sheriff joe arpaio, to see him in his own jail stripes. the possibility is on after judge murrey snow found probably cause that the sheriff and his top aides lied on the stand, violated his court orders. >> we want him to go through the same thing that he makes our families go through. he is a criminal. >> reporter: paul charlton said he has never heard anything like this. >> if the u.s. attorney's office

blowing the dust off of the books. >> reporter: prosecutors are reviewing the case but do not have a timetable for a decision. arpaio's attorney say they welcome a jury trial and will not agree to any sort of plea deal. if convicted, arpaio could face prison time. >> whether or not, joe arpaio has to resign in the event of conviction, the only thing we have in our state's history is former governor simonton who remained in office during the course of the trial but left office when he was convicted. >> reporter: arpaio's lawyers are planning to meet with john leonardo. the state's attorney's office can decide to go forward and press charges or have the

a valley woman places an ad on a valley woman places an ad on facebook looking for a job and stunned at the response she is receiving. she just moved here from the midwest and trying to make a go at it. >> the single mom has two young sons to support so she placed the ad sunday morning. >> reporter: what happened next touched this young mom's heart and will probably touch yours, too. her post blew there are all kinds of people telling her advice, telling her where there are job openings, there are even people saying i'm hiring and i will hire you. she was touched as she tried to get hired. in a bold move, she left her home and family support in des moines, iowa to get a new

as you can see, we still have pretty good moisture around. as we get down into the valley, you can see across the north, across the west and the northeast valley here. the east valley, not a lot happening. chandler, apache junction and you don't see a lot of moisture finding its way in there. peoria area getting hit about 1.5 of rain coming down in that particular area, not as much. we area. look at scottsdale, it just has one flash of moisture. that storm system moves on rapidly here. you can see where the storm is coming from the west starting to dry out a little bit and we have northern storms we're looking at as the moisture spreads out, also in the eastern mountains. you can see the moisture trying to make it over there but things

we have an advisory for flooding near lake havasu city and that the until 7:30 this evening. we do see 40's across the mountains as things dry out a little bit. 50's holding out as well. this is the futurecast. you can see by tomorrow we're going to see moisture just off to the north of us. there is a chance for rain. later in the day, a line alo it. we get more as we get further into the week. 100 degrees for the high today. we see a lot of 90's surrounding that throughout the valley. 86 in sedona. 70 in flagstaff. 100 in gila bend. yuma, 103. 96 degrees in safford. 100 on the high. 104 and 82, normal high and low. record high, 113.

university's welcome week. 1,700 volunteers to help studentses move in. all of the students will be moved in by this friday. finding someone to volunteer to help you move is the right thing to do. the odysea aqur yum is one step closer to open. they welcomed a new sea creature. >> reporter: it is the moment we can all relate to, moving into your new home, inspecting every nook and cranny. >> these otters are curious and they are checking out everything, including the cameraman. they are tactile so they want to touch everything they can. >> reporter: jessica and her team have been taking care of these otters since birth. after their mother was done raising them, humans took over bottle feeding and rocking them to sleep and introducing them to their new home at odysea aqur
