thank you for being with us. we begin with a news alert this noon, live pictures from skyfox. this is a deadly motorcycle crash in mesa. country club and southern. >> mesa fire confirming that the motorcyclist was killed in the crash. as you can imagine, there is traffic restrictions in the area. so if you're heading out, you'll want to avoid the intersection for quite a while. also first on fox, we are getting our first update this afternoon on the little girl who was hit by a last week while getting some ice cream from a truck. >> today her parents releasing a videotaped message and their attorney spoke out. nicole garcia joins us live now in the studio with the latest on what happened today. nicole? >> reporter: troy and celeste, that little girl's name is vanessa and right now she is still in the hospital in a medically induced sleep. she is fighting for her life. meanwhile, her attorneys are conducting a separate investigation into this crash. this is three-year-old vanessa.

injuries after she was hit by a phoenix police cruiser right in front of her house. >> vanessa was dragged under the police cruiser while her head and the side of her face were scraped up against the asphalt. while she laid in the pavement, after she was run over by the police vehicle, her mother, her ten-year-old brother 7-year-old sister came to her side. suffice it to say, these are images that they will never forget. >> vanessa had to undergo surgery to remove portions of her skull and cranium to remove brain swelling. the accident happened one week ago near 57th avenue and camelback. vanessa had just purchased an

police say she darted across the street towards her home and the officer didn't see her until it was too late. today attorneys insist she did not run or dart into the street but could not specify exactly how the three-year-old ended up in the middle of the street by herself. attorneys say they are doing their own independent investigation. >> i would like to appreciate everybody that is praying for my daughter, for my family, so she can get better, and just thank you, everybody. >> now, phoenix 35-year-old female officer, an 8-year-old veteran of the force, was alone in the cruiser when the crash happened and that she is absolutely devastated about this accident. the officer's name has not been released. meanwhile, attorneys have set up a website and a gofundme page for the little girl for those interested in helping out, and you can find more information on that, on our website at fox10phoenix.com. reporting live, i'm nicole garcia, fox 10 news. political news for you, fox

will likely be here in the valley next week. it will be his fifth campaign stop in the state. the city says trump has reached out looking for a location to make a policy speech next wednesday. he's looking for a site that will hold more than 500 people. the city says they don't have any venues that meet the requirement and have advised the campaign to work with hotels in the area. we have been hearing about this immigration speech that he was supposed to give, but then he postponed it, so we'll pass any details to you as they are confirmed. it's hard to believe right now with our relatively sunny skies as you can see here, the valley area under a weather alert this morning. the system brought rain, lightning, and i am sure as you have heard thunder. here's a shot from a gopro putting us right into the passenger seat as you can see. there is near the loops 101 and

of rain thankful. the storm cells have moved from the valley, up to the northeast, right across the middle of it, this is near i-17 and thunderbird. showers overnight, pretty intense on the west side for a while before the storm moved out to the east. a lightning strike knocked out power striking a power poll at 34th and mcdowell. people watched as the electricity traveled to a poll across the street and then just started sparking. about 1100 peo neighborhood were without power at one point. and then take a look at this, a big flash was caught on our tower cam, you see it right there? we believe this is a picture of the pole or possibly a transformer. there is a better shot of it right there being hit by the lightning. >> yeah, it was a good flash. some of you are posting pictures on our facebook page. you know how we feel about that. we love it. so this shot of lightning from fox 10 viewer michelle pugh, look at that, you can see the bundle of lightning, and then it

heading down to louisiana. flooding brought on by heavy storms has forced thousands of people into temporary housing. more than 115,000 people have registered for federal disaster aid. while in louisiana the president will also meet with the families of slain baton rouge police officers and with the family of alton sterling down there. you remember that shooting that caused some rioting in the area. new at noon, a philadelphia man learns his lesson the hard way that jumping in between buildings is not such a good idea. a man met a woman, took her up to a rooftop, where he tried to impress his date by jumping from run rooftop to another. as you can guess it, it didn't turn out so well. the man missed his landing, fell, and was wedged in between the buildings. rescuers, as you can see, spent more than three hours at a nearby building, eventually

out. >> they had to break through a wall? >> to break him out. >> that will impress your date. >> needless to say, he is embarrassed. a heartbreaking story out of chicago, a fire taking the life of three children and a man. crews responded to second and third floors, a man jumped from the third floor window with a baby in his killed and the man is in serious condition. the cause of the fire is unknown. stuck on the truck, not where you want to be stuck, the side winder coaster abruptly stopped with 27 people on it. they were walked down to safety. fortunately nobody was hurt. park officials are now trying to figure out what caused the roller coaster to seize up. caught on camera a sink whole swallows two people in china. choin's state media released video of the sinkhole.

let's go ahead and take a look at this. we saw rain, thunder, which might have woken some of you up. now gorgeous blue skies, it will get a little bit sunnier as we continue tomorrow into the noon hour, another chance of storms for the weekend. let's take a look at here at some of the rain that we saw in the last several hours. we'll start in the west valley, wickenburg area, down through surprise, across the 17 right in the middle of town in the west valley as well and then continued their way to the northeast, and that's exactly what we saw. you'll see fountain hills here at this hour, you just received some rain up that way, tonto basin as well. bigger area here up 17, right up the 17 you'll see prescott had plenty of rain, flagstaff as well, nothing to considerable but a good nice dousing of the rain obviously. up in the white mountains, up

that area as well. show low, probably just south of there you're getting some rain as it cruises on up. and take a look at the i-40 for all of you folks who maybe travel the i-40 east and west of flagstaff. you're going to see plenty of rain there moving up to the hopi navajo nation as well as into gallup new mexico. we have a considerable amount of rain falling but really nice for you folks to see up in snowflake. take a look at that. you're going to get a good you can imagine that it really dropped some of those temperatures, and we enjoy them, dealing with this very, very warm summer. page at 54, flagstaff 5shg9s over in winslow 77 along the i-40, st. john's 69, prescott looking at 60 degrees, and along the colorado river, 90 in bullhead city, 9190 in lake havasu, and 97 for you folks down in yuma. around the valley here,
