now at 9:00, storms making a surprise appearance in the valley tonight. is more wet weather on the way? donald trump is coming back to phoenix where he is scheduled to speak and the message he is expected to convey to voters. we'll hear from a valley high school student asked to change her black lives matter tee shirt because it was deemed >> i felt like i was being punished for being proud of my culture. later, it is a fitbit for cattle. how farmers are using technology to keep their livestock happy and healthy. we begun with a fox 10 news alert. three people, including a little girl has been hit by a car near

>> police say the driver and a passenger in the car fled the scene but the driver later turned himself in. right now, officers still looking for the passenger in the vehicle. as for the victims, we're told the little girl was rushed to the hospital in serious condition but should survive. the other two victims are listed in serious condition. >> we are working on this story and gathering new information. we will bring you new information as it becomes available. what an afternoon and hour home. the monsoon paying us an unexpected visit tonight. >> storm chances were low in the forecast but all of a sudden, it started raining. the south tower cam started capturing the blowing dust and heavy rain out on the roads and made for a difficult commute. >> it moved into central phoenix as well. it was coming down quite a bit.

seventh avenue and baseline where a power line snapped and it was laying in the middle of the road. the line could be seen sparking. the storm was in and out but powerful. >> kristy siefkin joins us now. forecasting this stuff the almost impossible. >> reporter: especially during the monsoon. we would love to stay in the next few minutes we could see cells popping up there but the best we can do is look at activity surrounding the valley but the best we can do is look at the outflows. gusty winds, as you guys mentioned, and significant rainfall totals and a few pockets around the valley. take a look at the crown king getting over an inch of rain. .4 of an inch for phoenix. peoria getting close to .4 of an inch.

richardson allegedly used to record the ran -- ran >> we're in chandler where this happened and people have been& out walking their dogs, enjoying the evening and the people we spoke to say they are stunned to find out that police claimed they busted a house of prostitution that was operating right across the street from this park. after an investigation, chandler police arrested robert richardson claiming he was running a house of prostitution out of his home in the middle of a quiet chandler neighborhood near mcclintock and ray. >> it is surprising. i wouldn't expect something like that. >> reporter: according to police records, the prostitution included male masseuses that

clients. richardson would watch in another room via a hidden camera. >> that is a rare exception and not the rule. >> reporter: a sign that reads, do not knock. when police busted the operation, they arrested richardson and a male masseuse. richardson is a freelance tv producer. police tell us richardson has lived in this three years but it is not clear how long this alleged house of prostitution was operating here. the undercover operation with chandler p.d. lasted about a month. i'm andrew hasbun, fox 10 news. >> thank you, andrew. phoenix police catch a man wanted for shooting a man last week. this was a big story last week. he was on the run. fox 10 was there as police took down the suspect, a teenage suspected shooter and they took

19-year-old maleqe thompson wanted for the shooting at an apartment complex. his mother is the one that called police and turned him in. she told us the woman who had been shot had been in a relationship with her teenage son. >> he was a troubled child with special needs and he met ms. soto at the maricopa juvenile detention center. on several occasion, him about dating my son that he was immature and not mentally stable to be seeing a woman of her age. >> the mother said the victim was 20 years older than her son. the victim was last listed in extremely critical condition. thompson is facing several felony charges, including attempted murder. donald trump will be

there are new details about the visit. according to trump's campaign, the event will be an arizona g.o.p. unity party and it will happen next wednesday the day after the primary. they are going to gather the winners from the night before and do the event at the hyatt regency in downtown phoenix. it is a unity rally. initially, it was believed that trump would deliver a highly anticipated speech on immigration. now, his campaign is event will be geared toward gathering g.o.p. members together here in arizona and there is no commitment about making an immigration speech, although it could still happen. right now, it is unclear if the event will be open to the public. arizona attorney general mark brnovich is going after a phoenix advocacy group accused of filing thousands of lawsuits

it was brought on by the advocates for individuals with disabilities foundation. that group has been filing what is known as drive-by lawsuits looking for small businesses whose parking lots who are not compliant with the a.d.a. the lawsuits, 1,500 of them can cost a small business big money. a.g. yoap stepping their authority and abusing the court system for gain. an attorney for that group says the only way to enforce the laws is through private litigation. school picture day turning out to be a big disappointment for a buckeye union high school student. the girl wore a black lives matter shirt to school.

black lives should be treated like any other race but that is not what the going on. >> reporter: she wore the same shirt and cent to the principal's office while after an exchange, her father removed her from school. >> i felt like i was being punished for being proud and proud of my culture. in the principal's office my dad kept asking him why they are suppressing me and why it is not ok for me to be proud of who i am. >> reporter: it sparked a divide in the school their hearing some students claim that tomorrow may get heated. >> i hear there are going to be fights and everyone is going to wear black lives matter shirts and some are going to wear confederate flag shirts. >> reporter: i stopped by buckeye union high to get they take on things and they said the superintendent would get back to

they stood talking outside of their cars when a car pulled up full of people, a woman gets out and approaches them. as tasha and her friend left this restaurant saturday night, a car pulled up in the parking lot and a woman approached them. >> she talks to me and asks, can i use your phone because our car ran out of gas. i am like your car is still something in the side of my head. >> reporter: two other people got out of the car and started attacking her and her friend. they snatched their purse, cellphones, and pepper sprayed her friend. she says out of instinct, she fought back against the woman who was attacking her. >> my instinct was don't go down and fight for your life. you're in a fight or flight moment and i fight as long as i could until i could get away from her. >> reporter: she did get away

for help. drivers honked at her but no one stopped to help until she saw several taxi drivers parked outside of this bar. >> of course, i'm screaming call 911. finally one of the cab drivers runs to me with his phone and has 911 on the line. i speak to them, fortunately, there happened to be a fight at sand bar so there was a car jenltses already there. >> reporter: her friend suffered more injuris than she did but will be ok. they lost their property a shaken but she says she is trying to stay positive. >> i'm bruised but not broken. i'm not going to let this define me. i'm not going to let this set me back from what this could do. i'm not going to let this turn into a paranoid person to think all people are bad because that is not true. >> reporter: unfortunately, there are no security cameras in that part of the parking lot.

if you have any information on this incident, it happened saturday night around 11:30, please call police. i'm linda williams, fox 10 news. a 10-year-old girl getting a surprise from police after her backpack was stolen from her mom's car. this was something she needed and she needed a rescue and these guys gave her the lifeline. officers noticed the girl was wearing a diamondbacks days later, she was surprised with a new backpack with the diamondbacks team logo. >> we noticed she was experiencing anxiety, which is something that victims of criminal activity will often experience. we realize we needed to do something for this literal girl. when we gave her the backpack, she was excited that her favorite team had shown an interest in helping her out. it was a lot of fun. >> yeah, the diamondbacks

severe weather strikes this was severe weather strikes in central indiana. several tornadoes touched down, which is rare for this time of year. thousands of people lost power. one person ended up trapped in a home during the storm. >> look at the debris. >> we talk about the haboob and all of that stuff that is nothing compared to this stuff. >> the problem with tornadoes is the projectiles going at such a fast speed, branches. >> you see incredible damage.

no serious injuries, fortunately. this coming out of wyoming, wildfires are burning in yellowstone and grand teton national parks and they are causing campgrounds evacuations. flames in grand teton are reaching higher than the tree tops right now. the cause of the fires are under investigation. >> reporter: as you saw from those pi weather in several places in the country. we had our own stretch of active weather tonight with that dust blowing through, all of the heavy rain and gusty winds but things have calmed down. 91 at sky harbor. 5 miles an hour for the winds. earlier, we had gusts up to 23 miles an hour in phoenix. all in all, we're going to see a quieter wet pattern over the next couple of days as a result

arizona. we are going to see a drying trend. that doesn't mean we won't see a few storms firing at higher elevations. you will notice, we're not tapping into monsoon moisture. it is dry there so the overall trend will be a dry one. upper 50's in payson. mid 60's for prescott. upper 90's for bullhead city. upper 60's to just to the north of that. valley numbers from mid 80's to apache junction to 90 for ahwatukee. upper 80's, wickenburg and surprise. 90 degrees for ahwatukee. the dew points on the low side. we see 50's out there in southern arizona. otherwise, 40's and 50's across the board. once again, the reflection that we're in a low-grade monsoon pattern. we came below the monsoon

trend with the seasonable averages. back in 1985, we hit a record temperature of 115 degrees so quite a bit warmer. overnight temps will look like this, 83 in lake havasu. 82 in yuma. 50's for show low. same story into payson. 64 for sedona. 68 in page. 48 in window rock. as we see the low exit, we're going to see warmer air ushin into the state. temperatures we see will be on the warm side but not too toasty. 105 for lake havasu. pleasant in sedona at 84. 70's in flagstaff. mid 90's into safford and we'll come into above the triple digit mark. casa grande below the 90-degree mark. there is a slight chance for a stray shower or two in the forecast. tomorrow, we clear out nicely. we should see mostly sunny skies

came in with bandannas. >> reporter: they demanded, their words here, weed and money. the man opened the door asked what are you talking about? >> he had a pistol and hit him in the face and told him to get on the floor. he saw me and took off. >> reporter: he cursed knowing he was in the wrong place. in the street, they yelled if you move, we will shoot you. what do neighbors want? for one thing, they would like to see arrested. >> i don't know who they were. i was scared because i don't know, it happened so fast. i dialed 911 right away. i guess the only thing is that they need more street lights out here. >> reporter: in arizona city, if you know anything about this case, if you have any tip, get in touch with the pinal county sheriff's office. steve krafft, fox 10 news. the parents of kayla mueller making stunning allegations

the humanitarian aid organization that their daughter was working for when she was kidnapped by isis. mueller, a young woman from prescott, arizona, was taken hostage back in 2013 and killed in isis captivity about 18 months later. kayla's parents say doctors without borders refused to help negotiate kayla's freedom. carl mueller said board room, they decided to leave our daughter there to be raped and ultimately murdered. a director of the organization says they have no obligation to help the young woman because she was not their employee. she was 26 years old when she was killed. she would have turned 28 this month. glendale police arrest a man

dennis moody to the crimes. he admitted to committing the assaults along with an additional burglary in 2014. deputies make a shocking discovery in buckeye. more than a dozen dogs are seized from a home after deputies say the conditions inside were bad. >> the homeowner would not let the deputies inside so they returned with a warrant and what they found was stunning. 11 dogs living in the conditions, whicher and two other found outside. one man says he believes some of the dogs attacked his dog. >> i hate to see an animal mistreated, period. i hate to see them, i don't like to see them haul them off but there is no choice. >> a 65-year-old woman lives in the home but it is not clear and she will face charges.

called megabyte is shut down. police say illegal gambling was going on there. the arizona department of gaming says the cafe has been under investigation for months. the business was allegedly allowing customers to play casino-style games on their computers. several people were arrested in the case. a downtown phoenix print shop is forced to stat over. crews believe the fire started in the attic. fortunately, no one inside at the time. there were a lot of equipment, clothing, and inventory in the shop when it went up. >> this is a like an old building. it is back from the 1920's. this is like a staple for the first friday's era. there is ash everywhere. everything is soaking wet.

>> historic loss as well. no other businesses affected. the cause of the fire is under investigation. also a fire at the first baptist church and it forced a change of plans for voters in pinal county. it was a polling place but because of the damage from the fire the church can no longer be used for the voting spot for an upcoming voting place for the you will need to go to the maricopa wells middle school gym to cast your ballot. a car plows into a q.t. convenience store in mesa and it made a huge mess. workers spent the morning trying to clean it up. the driver of the car is under investigation for d.u.i. thankfully, nobody inside hurt. looks like the annual zombie walk in downtown phoenix will happen after wall. it was canceled earlier this year because the organization

money or man power but now they are bringing back the popular event with sponsorships. organizers are teaming up with the here mow feel ya organization to put this on. admission is free but you are asked to make a $5 donation to the arizona here mow feel ya fitbits are helping farmers take care of their livestock. dairy farm in laveen using me domer thes on its cows. there are 2,200 cows are on the farm. half of them were outfitted with the device. it is a fitbit for cattle. it is to make sure the cows are moving around and they are happy

well, this is part of training camp that gets, at least in my mind, really interesting. the return of tyrann mathieu. the return of justin bethel. the arrival on the field of top pick robert nkemdiche and it starts to point toward the start of the regular season. you see tom saying let's look at the position battles. there is number 28, justin bethel, tyrann mathieu, this is his third straight day of practice. not one but two i.n.t.'s. he says he has a ways to go. as for jake coker gets picked off here, patrick peterson. it is going to be interesting to see how the quarterback position plays out over the next couple of games here.

here is marc martinez with fox 10 news at 10:00. he once ran a newsroom in arizona but now he is in the news and behind bars accused of running a house of prostitution in chandler. sudden downpour catching a lot of people off guard again today. what can we expect next? donald trump heading to the valley again but not for the reasons that many critic critics alike were expecting. thank you for being with us at 10:00. we start with a news alert. sky fox over the scene as first responders on the scene of a terrible accident at 35th avenue and greenway. three people were hit by a car, including a little girl. all three people are in serious condition. the driver got out of the car and ran away from the scene but later turned himself in.
