a news alert, police working a barricade situation at 7th street and dunlap, live pictures from skyfox over that scene. >> we don't have a lot of information at this hour. we are working to find out how all of this started. >> we have got word that they are bringing in a bunker, basically a large shield, to walk up to the front of the house. they think there's somebody in there. they aren't sure. they will take the large shield, go to the front door, and try to clear the house. we'll bring you develme during the newscast. trying to solve a murder of an 84-year-old outside an l.a. fitness last week. >> steve krafft was there and just returned from chandler. he joins us live. chandler? >> reporter: chandler police talking to people outside the l.a. fitness at warner and dobson, and folks in the adjoining neighborhood of businesses and homes hoping for some piece of information that could lead to a break in the case. last thursday, 84-year-old

finished -- he had just finished working out at that l.a. fitness at warner and dobson, and he'd gone to the parking lot of that l.a. fitness, and somebody attacked him there, stabbing him to death. chandler police say they are stymied. they need tips to aid in their investigation. this morning officers were out in force. they were interviewing people coming and going from the health club. police also talking to other businesses and homeowners close by, looking for leads to purs case? >> well, we don't have much information. we don't have a motive. we are looking for the public's help. what makes it truly special, in a sense, is that it happened in broad daylight. it's a busy parking lot. >> mr. hosakote worked until he was 83 years old, this gentleman. he only recently retired. police are asking folks outside that l.a. fitness questions,

not gotten his gun back, even though the charges were dropped. his attorneys in court arguing that they should be returned. prosecutors say they are holding on to the gun because investigators are still looking for more evidence that could lead to more charges being refiled. they say if and when they determine they have no case, they will give him back his weapon. a fox follow-up on a shooting we shared with you earlier this week. according to tmz, the victim is the valley's undefeated boxing prodi prodigy, and he is expected to be okay. a man approached him, asked him questions about about his dog, and for no apparent reason shot benavidez in the leg. new at noon, glendale police are looking for a father who vanished with his 10-year-old son, a 32-year-old last seen

he was supposed to pick his girlfriend up from work but didn't show up, and hasn't been seen since. he was driving a gray 2002 ford crew cab pick up. anybody with information should call glendale police. a former mail carrier from tolleson sentenced for stealing mail. denise robertson sentenced to nine months in prison for doing that. prosecutors say she stole dozens of route, other carriers' routes, and from the post office where she worked, many containing gift cards or cash. and a man behind bars after confessing coughing sex with his 16-year-old neighbor. garcia had sex with the girl several times. he's from honduras and has been living in the u.s. illegally for 14 years. he's now facing four counts of sexual abuse. a traffic alert to share

valley, a weekend road closure, northbound northbound lanes of loop 101 and scottsdale are going to be closed for the weekend, from mcdonald on the south end north to 90th street. they are putting down rubberized asphalt. speaking of the roads, a bad car accident in prescott. a 47-year-old woman was driving when she was hit which sent her car into the median and then it just rolled over. the 20-year-old man who hit her did not survive. police say the woman was wearing a seat belt, which probably saved her life. three people were hurt in a hit-and-run, are recovering, a man, woman, little girl all hit last night near 35th avenue and greenway. versi investigators say the victims were not in the crosswalk at the time. te little girl badly hurt, taken to the hospital with

the convention center is on monroe between 2nd and 3rd streets in downtown phoenix. you decide 2016, donald trump returns to phoenix next weekend, and he's promising to unveil his new immigration policy over the next week or two. he'll deliver a speech on wednesday at the hyatt regency hotel in phoenix. it was originally believed that trump would deliver a speech on his immigration policy, but he'll give a speech on bringing state. at this time it's not open to the public. dramatic pictures, a girl is pulled alive from the rubble of a collapsed building in italy. such a scene there in that country. the death toll from that quake is rising. aftershocks are continuing, and we actually have one of those caught on tape. >> it's just remarkable. and an out of control dump truck caught on tape.

>> heard all of the commotion. >> yeah. >> and you saw the video here shake. >> the dust. >> this is an aftershock striking a town in italy, following a 6.2 quake yesterday. unbelievable, a 4.3 aftershock struck a small town northeast of rome that has the worst damage. the aftershocks, frantic rescue crews working to free victims.

is pulled alive from the rubble. unbelievable. this is a 10-year-old girl being pulled out from a collapsed building. this is 17 hours after the quake struck. that means she was stuck down there for that long. 250 people are confirmed dead from yesterday's quake, and that number is expected to rise. a confrontation between iranian and u.s. u.s. navy says four iranian ships carried out a high-speed intercept and they came within 300 yards of a u.s. warship in that area, officials calling the incident unsafe and unprofessional. that's the kind of thing that gets you shot out of the water if you do this. the warship tried to make contact 12 times, ultimately changing course to avoid a collision.

cleanup is underway in indiana this afternoon. a series of tornados, as many as eight of them, reported near the town of kokomo, the store leveling a starbucks, boy, look at that, going right over there. homes and businesses destroyed, dozens of people thousands of people still without power as those tornados hit. >> unbelievable, right? >> right. and mike pence, the nominee for vice president on the republican side, also the governor of indiana, went back home to deal with all of that stuff today. >> absolutely. let's go ahead and take a look at the weather. it's going to heat up here in terms of storms in the next couple of days. first a look at the tower cam. gorgeous day, 98 degrees, a

as we inch closer to the monsoon, it's going to look fabulous as it drys up outside. some of the storms we are experiencing in our state right now up in the northeastern part of arizona, and let's take a look at these right here, this is over in the show low area, just north of show low. you're going to see some of those storms as well as west of it. and then up near flagstaff is where we are also seeing some storms at this hour. around the san francisco peaks, take a look at this, over the last couple of hours, you can see some of those storms that have really moved through. here. peach springs, you probably saw some storms rip through there. they are growing in strength, as you can see. these are fast moving storms. they are not going to cause too much problem. kayenta, rock point, up in the hopi and navajo reservations. up near page, a huge storm cell moving across lake powell,

futurecast, next 24-48 hours, let's start today here, and then we'll inch a little bit closer to about 2:50 tomorrow morning, which will be overnight hours for us here, right? lots of cloud cover as you can see, storms up near the grand canyon, and then as we inch closer to the afternoon hours of tomorrow, 4:40, so early afternoon into the evening hours of tomorrow. so dinnertime, maybe, you're going to see a lot of storms here. central arizona, north of sedona, and especially north of flagstaff. and then also here in the valley, we are going to experience some of those storms a little bit closer here, you'll see some of these storm cells that will move through. this is into the afternoon hours of tomorrow, and then eventually into the evening hours as well. but as we cruise on into saturday, about 12:15, you still see central arizona seeing some storms. for the most part here in the valley, we will dry up, and then lots of sunshine for us, and then right now temperatures across the state as we start to take in a little bit the fact that we'll experience the monsoon for the next 24 to 48 hours, temperatures across the state, 84 up in page, grand

those -- that mogollon rim looking pretty nice now, right? i grew up going to woods canyon lake, and it's just gorgeous o up there, deer valley 90, scottsdale 94, mostly 90s across our beautiful valley right here. 80s and 90s across the eastern seaboard. pretty nice on the east coast there. pretty muggy though. and some of these storms that will be brewing across the gulf coast, you'll see them move on into louisiana eventually. let's take a look at the forecast. that's what we really want to take a look at this hour. 20% chance of storms on friday, and then saturday as well. dry out sunday, lots of sunshine beginning of next week, and then the monsoon returns again into wednesday. >> i want to hear about woods canyon lake. how was that? >> lots of stories, yes. >> like a big lake? where is it? >> up in the mogollon. >> oh, nice. >> yeah, about 45 minutes or so past payson up in the white mountains. >> do fishing?
