a heartbreaking story out of lake powell along the arizona-utah border where a mother dies while saving her son who fell into the water. the 2-year-old boy fell from a houseboat. chelsea jumped in and held him above the water for five minutes until a family member could grab him. park rangers say the 35-year-old colorado woman and not wearing life jackets, which are required for boaters under the age of 12. the law firm russell worked for said she suffered from heart failure. two people are dead and another victim are recovering after a triple shooting in phoenix. it happened last night near 24th street and broadway. two men were let inside a home and one of them shot three victims.

away. police are looking into whether this shooting was drug related and whether it was connected to another shooting last night and another shooting this morning near 28th street and broadway. a swat situation in phoenix, sky fox was over it, a search warrant was served. multiple people inside the home had outstanding warrants for drug oen two came out willingly and two ors came out after the swat team deployed gas. a woman got away but she is not a danger to the public. an armed confrontation led to the discovery of a huge marijuana growing operation. it is not uncommon for growers to tuck away their crop in forest land and other areas with a lot of vegetation.

we're in the weekend, almost. kari lake who is the master of the weekend, never wastes a minute, she has a look at the weather. >> reporter: we have storms popping up. just as i said, the monsoon -- the moisture in the air is ripe for storms. let's zoom in and take a look. you can see there are storms popping and down by queen creek, let's take you up north first north of this has been the story all first. flag receiving quite a bit of rain and to the south of us. watch what happens near the valley, things start to pop up over near queen creek. as we zoom in here, strong storms, actually, there is a significant weather advisory and excess of 40 miles an hour, blowing dust and heavy rain through 6:30 so we have another 20 minutes or so before this

scottsdale. sky fox over the scene at scottsdale airport this morning. it is not clear why the plane had troubles but there doesn't appear to be a lot of damage to the plane. a little mishap into the gravel and it looks like no one was hurt. in the health watch, f.d.a. recommending all u.s. blood centers begin screening for the zika virus. it wants 11 state, including arizona, in the first rollout to start screening over the next four all the other states would begin in 12 weeks. the goal is to protect the u.s. blood supply from the mosquito-borne virus, which we know can cause bit defects. since february, blood centers have been turning people away if they have traveled to areas that have had zika outbreaks. >> people who normally give blood in yuma, san luis, we saw a heavier decline in donations

moment, queen creek. we are seeing clouds out there. we have the dew point at 55, which indicates it is possible to see monsoon storms and i think we'll see a chance for that over the next half hand -- hour or so. the temperatures are cooler today than they have been. we're at 98. normal is 104 so we're well below normal and well below our record set back on this d our morning temperatures were lower than normal. we woke up cool at 80 degrees. look at the storms. we've seen them popping up in in the mountains. we've seen it closer to home. this is the story near flag where they got indicated with rain, camp verde, prescott,

we're seeing a storm cell popping up near queen creek and this is quite a large cell. just starting to slowly die down but this caused a severe weather advisory with 40 miles an hour possible. it is a pretty strong storm cell and it is moving to the northeast. let me show you what is happening. it is starting to head over to hamilton corner. this is south of down here. this is strong wins and hail associated with this. you can see exactly where it is. queen creek, we're starting to see the rain subside south of germann. we're going to continue to watch this one as it is drifting to the northeast, we may see this die out by 6:30. most of it should be gone. any time you have dew points

or greater, you have a chance of these pop-up thunderstorms happening. while we have the dew points and the humidity in the air and look at how humid it is. 60 in florence, this is the dew point. when you see dew points near 57, there is a good chance a thunderstorm could pop up. so rainfall totals since midnight ranging over an inch to just a trace. anywhere where you see green here on t got rain. this is to illustrate where we got a little bit of rain. parts of the state last night and in some places it is significant. drying out by saturday. it really dries out and into sunday, mostly rain shower activity is in show low and the high country. the typical place where we see the monsoon action is the

this is the last place for the monsoon to die off. temperatures across the state looking very cool. look at this, 60 degrees in sedona for the overnight low. 44 in flag. you need a jacket. 51 in payson. here in the valley, nice, cool temperatures. across the 48 states here, we can see more rain falling in tropical storm is expected to form. we are seeing tropical moisture and 4-5 inches expected in miami and southern florida, which is terrible for the zika outbreak. here is the 10 day for you. we start to dry out saturday, 95. a few clouds sunday, 100. we warm it up on monday with 104 but temperatures are where they should be and we're doing seasonable weather right now.
