shortly after he landed at sky harbor, his motorcade made his way to downtown phoenix. it is trump's fifth visit to the valley but all eyes were on trump for this visit. tonight is the night he announced he will deliver a much anticipated speech. nicole garcia has the protests that seemed to follow trump wherever he goes. we begin with steve krafft. center to hear trump speak. steve, he spoke about 13 months ago and talked heavily about immigration and tonight, he amped that up a few steps, at least. >> he definitely did. this was about 4,500 people at the phoenix convention center. this is people who love donald trump.

stay at home, don't vote for trump. >> that, by the way, the woman you heard speak was a dreamer who became legal. local democrats also say they will continue to reject donald trump. they were not the only once unhappy to see donald trump in phoenix. protesters greeting him when he arrived to speak and nicole garcia outside of the convention center where the demonstrators gathered tonight. >> reporter: a much different scene out it is sprinkling out here and the streets are empty but earlier this afternoon, this plaza filled with 500 trump protesters standing shoulder to shoulder chanting, the two sides with metal fencing across the street. monroe here wasn't shut down so physical barriers between trump protesters and supporters. a couple dozen protesters made

the doors of the convention center and that is where a few people came face to face and tense moments followed. ultimately, police officers got into the mix and physically separated the dueling sides without any incident and that verbal clash remained just that, just a war of words. protesters estimated to be out he demonstration. there was music, dancing, inflatable versions of sheriff joe arpaio and donald trump. colorful signs and rhetoric and the chants were trump is hate. >> anywhere you go, you see 90% or close to it white folks and they are thinking about how wonderful they have it and how great donald is going to make

those here in the country illegally. marcy jones has the details. >> reporter: that's right, this vote passed 5-4 for the vote i.d.'s that could be issued illegally. the city doesn't have any control over these i.d.'s as they will be distributed if from a third-party country. it came in after a heated d and the cards about the argument that it will make the city more inclusive. it will be comparable to a library bank card mainly used as a second form of i.d. it cannot replace as a driver's license orbiter certificate. while supporters say it is a step in the right direction and many can benefit from it, such as victims of abuse, opposers

the nights are going to get nicer. this is the time of year where they make a slow turnaround. >> the storm tonight is exciting. >> reporter: yeah, it is not a bad one. we had pretty good moisture in a few different places but just sprinkles downtown so far. you can see a little haze out there as the storm comes in. it is a little cloudiness coming in. 94 degrees right now. winds out of the east, southeast. the winds are picking up a little bit as we had gusts up to 35 miles an hour in the east valley. 86 in queen creek. 91 in fountain hills. surprise, 92 degrees. you can see the moisture along the rim coming out of the south as well. a little bit of moisture down there. we head down into phoenix. you can see this stuff coming in once again. it is losing a little bit of its steam as it can yous in but it is still coming in as a big storm and coming in as rain.
