we will build a great wall along the southern border. >> donald trump in phoenix tonight dealing his immigration plan. but not everyone is happy to see the g.o.p. presidential candidate. hundreds of protesters came out the welcome trump. before he arrived in phoenix, donald trump traveled south of the border to meet with mexico's president in mexico city. >> we did discuss the wall. before we get to donald trump, we begin with a fox 10 news alert. sky fox over the home at 39th avenue and peoria and this is tragic. paramedics has rushed a 2-year-old child to the hospital with a gunshot wound. the toddler got ahold of a gun

thankfully, we're told the injuries are not life threatening. a major police presence this evening for donald trump. shortly after he landed at sky harbor, his motorcade made his way to downtown phoenix. it is trump's fifth visit to the valley but all eyes were on trump for this visit. tonight is the night he announced he will deliver anticipated speech. nicole garcia has the protests that seemed to follow trump wherever he goes. we begin with steve krafft. he was inside the convention center to hear trump speak. steve, he spoke about 13 months ago and talked heavily about immigration and tonight, he amped that up a few steps, at least. >> he definitely did.

this is people who love donald trump. this was an enthusiastic crowd and a fiery speech. anyone two expected some tone of moderation from donald trump would go away from this speech sorely disappointed. he was talking about strict enforcement. he, as you said, amped it up and here are the highlights from donald trump's speech. along the southern border. mexico will pay for the wall. we will break the cycle of amnesty and illegal immigration. we will break the cycle. there will be no amnesty.

because of the dream act will be taken away if donald trump becomes president. >> if you know what it is like to be at home and you want to stay at home, don't vote for trump. >> that, by the way, the woman you heard speak was a dreamer who became legal. local democrats also say they will continue to reject donald trump. they were not the only once unhappy to see donald trump in phoenix. protesters greeting him arrived to speak and nicole garcia outside of the convention center where the demonstrators gathered tonight. >> reporter: a much different scene out here. it is sprinkling out here and the streets are empty but earlier this afternoon, this plaza filled with 500 trump protesters standing shoulder to shoulder chanting, the two sides with metal fencing across the

physical barriers between trump protesters and supporters. a couple dozen protesters made their way across the street to the doors of the convention center and that is where a few people came face to face and tense moments followed. ultimately, police officers got into the mix and physically separated the dueling sid verbal clash remained just that, just a war of words. protesters estimated to be out here at the height of the demonstration. there was music, dancing, inflatable versions of sheriff joe arpaio and donald trump. colorful signs and rhetoric and the chants were trump is hate. >> anywhere you go, you see 90%

they are thinking about how wonderful they have it and how great donald is going to make it. >> he has made so many statements that are clearly showing he the bigoted. he can't hide from it. so the hair is a play on words that you can't comb over it because it is so obvious. he makes it seem normal. >> reporter: there was also a huge phoenix police presence at the height of the there were officers on every corner in the crowd, across the street, on bikes, under cover, and officers in riot gear standing by just in case. fortunately, there were no major skins to report. reporting live downtown, i'm nicole garcia, fox 10 news. donald trump accepted enrique pena nieto's invitation to meet with the president in mexico city and he showed up.

a federal appeals court a federal appeals court upholds a ban on selling guns to medical marijuana users. the ninth circuit court of appeals says the ban does not violent the second amendment. arizona falls under the appellate's court jurisdiction. it follows a lawsuit filed by a

illegal to sell firearms to illegal drug users. a city photo i.d. card for those here in the country illegally. marcy jones has the details. >> reporter: that's right, this vote passed 5-4 for the vote i.d.'s that could be issued illegally. the city doesn't have any control over these i.d.'s as they will be distributed if from it came in after a heated debate and the cards about the argument that it will make the city more inclusive. it will be comparable to a library bank card mainly used as a second form of i.d. it cannot replace as a driver's license orbiter certificate. while supporters say it is a

many can benefit from it, such as victims of abuse, opposers say the card is an expensive library card and cannot replace an i.d. to vote or drive. >> this is going to encourage a better relationship between the constituents and the police. the police to have a better communication to families aren't afraid to call the police because they don't have an i.d. so they are not questioned. they and say this is who i am. i'm a resident of phoenix and i want to -- they want to feel safe when they call the cops. >> it is going to be a different pool of people who are afraid to contact police because they will ask for an i.d. police will ask for your i.d. if you are a witness or a victim. you do not have to give an i.d. if you are contacted because of

it was a little bit toasty out there today. >> reporter: it was but it is cooling off right now. there is a little bit of rain coming in. the nights are going to get nicer. this is the time of year where they make a slow turnaround. >> the storm tonight is exciting. >> reporter: yeah, it is not a bad one. we had pretty good moisture in a few different places but just sprinkles downtown so far. you can see a little haze out there as the storm comes in. it is a little cloudes in. 94 degrees right now. winds out of the east, southeast. the winds are picking up a little bit as well. we had gusts up to 35 miles an hour in the east valley. 86 in queen creek. 91 in fountain hills. surprise, 92 degrees. you can see the moisture along the rim coming out of the south as well. a little bit of moisture down there. we head down into phoenix. you can see this stuff coming in

steam as it can yous in but it is still coming in as a big storm and coming in as rain. some of it is sprinkles and some is heavier. you can see here that some is getting heavy on the west side. look at that. a little bit of moisture right here. we get an inch to almost 1.5 out in southeast of gilbert and .5 of an inch up by tonto basin. you get the and here is apache junction up here. you start to see the amounts again as much as .5 of an inch in those areas. picking up pretty good moisture through the night tonight. it is still coming in. so of the heavier rain is where you see the bright colors. when you see the green that is steady rain or more of a sprinkling rain that we have had described coming in. this is sky harbor right here.

over the top of sky harbor as well. let's look at our high on the day today. 106 degrees. we had another 106 in glendale. 104 in chandler. look at these numbers up north, we have 88 degrees in sedona. 86 in prescott. 92 in winslow. 107 at gila bend. this is your day. 106 on the high. 102 on the low. 113, record high for the 62 your record low for the day. take a look at these forecast highs. temperatures coming down just a little bit with the forecast highs in there and across the nation, you can see more active weather coming out of the south. this, of course, is a tropical storm now that is going to track across the southeast and there will be flooding and stormy weather. 99 degrees for tomorrow.

for the first time in more than 50 years. a u.s. commercial flight takes off from florida and lands in cuba today. the jetblue flight took off from fort lauderdale airport and landed in santa clara in cuba. other airlines will begin to fly into cuba as we. an agreement says there will be 110 daily commercial flights between the two countries.

number 38 who has been on a nice roll this preseason. we saw it right away. first game out against the raiders this big run. you saw the old ellington in many ways. it is about being injury free and the ability to change directions and the breakaway here. remember, ellington can take the same running back skills and enhance the teams and take an upscale view of this big run. i talked to him after practice yesterday and he has rejuvenated and he is excited to be a main player for this cardinals' offense and just about opportunity. opportunity to strut his stuff. >> this is another way to improve my talent andability. i'm all about a guy that the more i can do, the better i am.
