shootings. they received half dozen 911 calls of a white work truck driving erratically on the freeway last night. one of those calls came from the victim, the 49-year-old farmer. she described the truck chasing her. her call cut short by gunshots. her black older model honda accord crashed into a concrete median. it shows farmer entered a guilty plea last year to aggravated harassment after a split with her husband and hacking into his put back on probation. police say there were three men in the work truck. the fatal shots came from one of them. they want the other two to call police. >> i think that one person is responsible for this and i'm urging the other two that were in the truck that maybe one had nothing to do with this to listen to their conscience and call the police department and call silent witness and let us know what happend last night. >> why do you think that? >> because i know there are three people together. only one pulled the trigger.

cases. closing arguments in the trial of a former yoga teacher. v been pushed back now to next week of her trial was continued today. she is accused of getting drunk at a bar mitzvah and letting boys touch her breasts. she is charged with 18 counts including sexual indiesancy. the judge denied the request from her attorney for a mistrial. we are getting new details tonight about a theft on drake's tour bus. a suspect is property recovered. but tonight fox 10 has learned it was an alert asu police officer who actually saw the story on tv and helped piece together what happened. >> traveon king making his first appearance in court. he was caught on surveillance camera stealing a briefcase out of a tour bus at the talking stick resort arena. drake was performing at the time of the theft.

but video posted by "tmz" shows the rapper visibly upset. according to court paper work, the suspect works as a janitor and lives at a homeless shelter. the night of the theft he was arrested for trespassing on the campus of asu. when he was arrested, police found the stolen property but didn't know who it belonged to until an asu police officer saw the story on the news and called asu police. king was then rebooked on burglary and theft charges. in court,in >> mr. king are you in custody on something else? >> yes. they -- >> okay. >> just trying to go home. i'm tired. i'm supposed to be at work. >> he was released without bail and will be back in court later this month. now police originally estimated the value of the stolen property at $3 million but court paper work shows the victim actually thought it was worth something more like $400,000. fox follow-up on an attack

jail. two inmates stabbed a jail lieutenant multiple times and another inmate assaulted a detention officer who was trying to help the lieutenant. the inmates accused in the stabbing are robert via loboth, the -- lobus. the inmate accused of the assault is moraga. the lieutenant was flown to the hospital to receive treatment for the stab wounds to his torso. the detention officer suffered a hand injury that did not hospitalization. now all three of these suspects will now be facing charges once investigators are finished looking into the attack. a man escapes from a burning home overnight in east phoenix. a home caught fire just before midnight. this is near 56th street and thomas. the home burned to the ground. phoenix fire investigators are looking into the cause and trying to figure out exactly what happened here. >> one student killed and another one hurt after a school shooting in the town of alpine,

western part of the state. out by big bend national park. the police say that a female student shot another female student and then turned that gun on herself. the injured student, a 14-year-old freshman is expected to be okay in addition, a federal law enforcement officer responding to the shootings was shot in the leg when another officer's gun accidentally went off. taking you to brooklyn, new york, where a 15-year-old is under arrest accused of bringing the loaded gun into school. he hid the gun in his book bag and was spotted after being put through the x-ray machines. the 15-year-old will be charged as a jiewchinal in this case -- juvenile in this case. people coming together today to honor a true american hero. joe kelwood passed away on monday a navajo code talker who served in world war ii. and with that unbreakable code, he helped the u.s. win the war.

she joins us live and what a debt of gratitude we have for all of these men. >> he was such a part of a rare group. joe kelwood was 95 years old. while he served in the marine, he was part of the secret group that helped the u.s. win several battles in world war ii and family friends and fellow marines honored the fallen hero who was layed to rest today at the va national cemetery in phoenix. >> joe kelwood was proud veteran. this was him singing the marine corps him in navajo. something he enjoyed doing. thursday a couple of the remaining navajo code talkers finished the hymn at kelwood's funeral. he serve in the first marine division. he fought during world war ii and involved in several battles

the battle of okinawa. kelwood was one of 400 navajos that were recruited by the u.s. military as code talkers. a secret group that transmitted battle messages in their native unwritten language. >> we owe them such a great honor and they were secret until 1968 and they all used up until that time by the united states government. so navajo code talkers, thank you so very much for what you have done for our country. >> todath talkers still living. they are proud to have come up with a code that the japanese soldiers could never crack. >> it was official military code that was developed using the navajo language. it's such a way that only those of us who went to code school know what the code is. some so if navajo was lest tong us the code don't know what we are talking about. >> kelwood survived by his siblings and several children,

will do is map out the minerals on the surface and the suv sized spacecraft will travel 4 billion miles by mission's end in 2023. >> infrared spectrometer. it is like a camera but it sees heat and the idea is part of that mapping campaign. they will take pictures but the infrared strum will tell about the kinds of minerals on the involved a lot of students are majoring in science or engineering and want to get involved, hands on activity so they can get great jobs and here they are helping to build instruments and test them and are going to a launch and seeing all of this end to end. great experience for the students. >> reporter: and those students were definitely very excited here today a lot of cheers as it launched a lot of hard work paying off. now ocirus rex will land in the

well, a little different day today. 95 degrees. winds west at 11. doesn't that look nice to see a nice clear blue sky back there we've got a few clouds hanging around but not too many. 92 right now at deer valley. 94 in surprise. and apache junction is it 92 degrees right now. and look across the state here. well, it's not all gone. we do see a little moisture still hanging around here. we will run down and take a look at it. in fact, it's actually a pretty good storm system near clifton. you see it rolling into clifton. one of the only spots in the state right now getting hit with moisture. we have a little bit kind of south of there down in the southeastern portion of the

there is safford right there and as you get another look at that area, you will see that winds are blowing pretty good. we did have a gust of about 20 miles per hour in the safford area. but that has died down. you can see a line of wind passing through the state at the present time. 96 degrees at sky harbor today. we had 93 degrees at goodyear. 94 degrees in scottsdale. and in chandler it was in the mid-90s. 78 up in flagstaff. 88 in sedona. 83 in 90 in winslow with 79 in show low. and then 94 at gila bend today. well, we will take a trip through the early morning. take a look at tomorrow. the city will be looking good and we will have a few clouds and mostly sunny. go to 101 degrees for the high as things start to warm up a little bit. here is today's high at 96. 74 for the morning low. 102 and 80 would be normal high and low. there is your record high at

forecasting. 101 degrees as mentioned. 102 in surprise. 100 at fountain hills and 98 at apache junction. looking across the north 86 at payson. 77 at flagstaff. and make that 106 at bullhead city. 102 at gila bend. these are the forecast lows and this is really what's making the nice changes here. these overnight lows were forecasting 76 in sky harbor. but look at some low 70s. out chandler. up in deer valley 76, 75. in buckeye so some nice looking temps. as we look across the country, this system right in here dumping a lot of rain and a lot of moisture. couple of inches of rain. there is flooding in the area and forecast flooding in the area. also the warm weather is still hanging on in the eastern and southeastern portion of the country. you can see here as we open it

too. .69 of an inch in wichita and .32 of an inch in st. louis. look at your overnight temperatures at 79 degrees. and then we will be looking at those temperatures in the 2reu7le di-- triple digits and then back into the 90s for a chance of rain on sunday. watch your kids around water. great story here. this is really something as a california high school football team shows their support for a cheerleader who was diagnosed with leukemia. this is ashley. the diagnosis came in month. and as each member of the team entered the field before their final football game, they laid an orange rose at her feet, orange the designated color for leukemia awareness. the young girl has been undergoing daily chemo treatments and says the support of her family and the school has been simply amazing. >> that is very nice gesture. >> great. coming up, what was the box office bomb of the summer? we know there were a lot of movies that didn't do well.
