launches of the summer turns into a bust, but after less than a month on the market, samsung telling people to stop using their new galaxy note 7 smartphones. >> yeah, and the company wants customers to turn off their phones, take them back to the store as soon as possible as some phones appear to have faulty batteries inside, and that can can explode and start a fire, as you see here. >> the list of these incidents continues to grow longer and longer, and the taking notice. they are warning all travelers not to pack these phones into their checked bags and they don't even want you to turn these phones on while in the air. ty brennan joins us now live with the latest. ty? >> reporter: yeah, kari, this all stems from samsung's now galaxy note 4, and they say it is the lithium ion batteries that are causing the problem. right now, experts aren't sure

overheating and causing fires, and so far there have been dozens and dozens of cases happening. >> reporter: how concerned would you be if you had one of these samsung phones? >> very concerned. >> reporter: greg pruitt is the owner of you break it, i fix in tempe, he is an expert in the field of smartphones and says this new recall by galaxy over the note 7 is concerning. >> i would follow samsung's advice, and also from the u.s. government, to turn your phone off and pretty much te samsung or your carrier just to get a replacement. >> the u.s. consumer products safety commission sending out a warning to all 2.5 smartphone users to return the phone to the stores. these are charred instance of what used to be a jeep grand cherokee. the owner of the car in florida says it was the new samsung

on wall street, shares dropping rapidly today, also taking another step by selling its printer business to how do yewl packard for just over $1 billion. an accident this morning, northbound on i-17 and thomas, the victim stranded on the side of i-17, his car broken down, when he was bit by seb white older model pickup truck, probably has significant front end damage and a right rearview mirror might be missing. the victim's name has not been released but we do know he is in his early 20s. and we are learning more about a house spart shooting early sunday morning. police say they have arrested somebody who lived at the home. the suspect exchanged gunfire with somebody who was outside he house.

a tan suv in the area was also struck by flying bullets but people inside the vehicle weren't hurt. bedbugs aren't the kind of thing that you want to see the place where you buy food, groceries, clothes, household products. >> not at all, but a valley couple says that is exactly what they encountered during a recent trip to walmart. the couple claims that the store's motorized scooters, you have probably seen these, are crawling with bedbugs, and they have the bites to prove it. andrew hasbun how walmart is responding. >> reporter: kari, they have the bites and the video that they have now posted online. it has now been seen by hundreds of thousands of people on facebook. it happened near at the walmart on bethany home road. and the man who claims that he was attacked by bugs claims he could feel them biting shortly after he sat in the cart. the video hard to stomach, the bugs clearly visible, climbing

seat. >> it was bite after bite after bite. >> he was shopping at the walmart last night. his foot was hurting, so he hopped on one of the motorized carts. moments later, he could feel the bugs. >> i thought it was probably just the rubber from the seat. i'm like, small itch. keep strolling through the walmart, ten minutes later the itch got worse. that's when i was like, you know what, i need to check what's on the seat. >> this is what he found, the seat >> it's kind of disgusting, because if they were already on te chair, they are probably already spread throughout the walmart. >> he complained to management and they took the cart away. he also filled out an incident report to the store and went to the doctor to have the bug bites checked out. his wife posted the video to facebook and it exploded online. >> we posted the video just to let people know about walmart, how dirty it was, and it just blew up. >> reporter: and all of this was if you have to get the attention of walmart. their corporate office tells us

removed from service. reporting live in phoenix, i'm andrew hasbun, fox 10 news. the giant inflatable cow, remember this? it was stolen from a valley chick-fil-a over the weekend. we are happy to report he has been found. a tipster spotted the clown in someone's backyard. kind of hard to hide this cow. the police showed up at a person's home. the man said he brought it at a garage sale. the cow, a one in arizona, has now been returned to the chick-fil-a franchise owner, and t the tipsr who found the cow is getting a pretty sweet reward, chick-fil-a giving him free meals for an entire year. a pair of thieves were caught on camera stealing thousands of dollars of tools and work equipment from a work van. the thieves pulled up, you can

quality video, one of them stands watch while the other uses a crowbar to break the back of the vehicle wide-open, and they make off with a lot of equipment. they seem to know exactly what they are going for. those green canisters there are freon, and not cheap, worth 800 bucks a piece. and it's like they targeted this car, because it's opened up and they are gone in a few seconds. the owner of the vehicl doesn't want to be identified, says the thieves got away with $3,000 in personal tools and $6,000 worth of company equipment. >> they are in and out in two minutes. in this two minutes, they gabbed everything that was worth over two, $300, and that was about four or five trips. >> and again, it's an air-conditioning business that this guy works for, and he is hoping that someone recognizes the guys in the video and the green dodge durango that they are driving. if you have any information on

that was supposed to go to people who were fighting cancer, but instead it went into this woman's pocket. she was caught stealing thousands of dollars in donations from a cancer charity that she worked for, and today she was sentenced to two years behind bars for the crime. the charity is working to get back on its feet now. they say her arrest is making potential donors a bit skittish. >> and that's pretty tough for them to try to get back on their feet. their image has been tarnished. it's been almost five years employee's scheme, and even though they are still trying to repair the damage that's been done. they are hoping that their loss will serve as warning to others. >> because the true victims of this, other than our organization, are those with cancer. >> reporter: that's how the leaders of the cancer support community of arizona are feeling right now. the local nonprofit serves more than 11,000 patients and their families, and they are trying to repair their reputation after one of their own is convicted of stealing hundreds of thousands

42-year-old melissa, who was in charge of the organization's bookkeeping for five years, was convicted of embezzling nearly $200,000, just so she could spend it on herself. she bought clothe, concert takes into account, and even gave herself a raise. >> there were not any signs that he was going to do this. >> reporter: but that soon changed when the group discovered that the numbers weren't adding up. they immediately notified the attorney general's office, and uncovered her scheme. >> unfortunately, she was a trusted staff member, and there was not double oversight on her activities, because she was trusted. >> reporter: trust that has now been tarnished for both. cancer support community has been working for years to try to repair that damage and they say this has cast a dark shadow over them, but they say don't expect this to keep them from helping

86 in mesa, 84 right now in chandler. we have surprise at 88 degrees at the present time. take a look at it, a little bit of moisture finding its way into the state today. we had some scattered around, a shower here, a shower there, had some reports of showers on the west side up in ahwatukee, over in the east valley a little bit of active weather. and it continues to be a little active out there with some fairly good storms down to the south of us. we take a little look down casa grande had few of them passing through during the day today, but look it, it is clearing up nicely at this time. we look over on the east side here, and we see some of this stuff coming from the west kind of passing through there. some of the heavier stuff, right there you can see a couple of storms rolling through, and there's still a little bit out there, just kind of hanging on. you'll see it right up in this area here, and continuing to move in an easterly direction. i mentioned that we did have some advisories out. they continue in the northern

until 8:00 tomorrow, one of them until 6:00 tomorrow. so we will watch that. and you can see it's still windy, look at that, bullhead city at 26 miles an hour, 18 in sedona, 12 in payson, 26 miles an hour in globe right now, and as we put the futurecast into motion, here we are right here. we will see a little bit of active weather here and there as we head toward the weekend, but things really seem to stay just a little bit away from the valley. me, that's the high on the day today at 101 degrees. you can see all around it here, we had some upper 90s, mid-90s at gateway, 81 at payson, 81 at prescott, 82 at sedona, 81 at the grand canyon, 100 in gila bend, in tuscon it was 91, here 101. 83 the morning low, 101 and 78 would be your normal high and low.

your record low at 58. here's your forecast page, much nicer than the high page today. we bring it down to 94 degrees. you see some 90s surrounded it, some upper nineties, some mid-90s out there as well, but most things staying in the 90s. 97 is the forecast for yuma. 97 is the forecast for casa grande. 4 in payson, 65 at flagstaff, and 80 at st. john's. and look at those lows, boy these lows are nice, these are all of the valley them staying right there in the mid-70s, some of them a little lower than this, but not temperature. across the country, temperature lows getting down into the 20s in some of these areas of wyoming, and with that the chilly weather finding its way in there, and then some flooding down through portions of arkansas and then some showers in the areas of the carolinas, and some of those showers fairly heavy, a little bit of flooding down in there as well.

tonight two elementary tonight, two elementary schools in glendale are being called unsafe, and now they are closed for emergency repairs. >> and the big question is how long will those repairs take. and it could be weeks. today the district held meetings

affected. linda williams explains what they plan to do moving forward. >> parent of students who attend landmark and challenger schools gathered monday afternoon here at civic center for answers, though they probably didn't get thens as they were hoping for. more than 1400 students attend these schools in glendale. both schools are now closed for an emergency structural repair. those students will now have to go on a split schedule other schools in the district. desert spirit and bicentennial school north are the ones that will be on the split shift. for half the day, those schools will accommodate landmark and challenger students. when those students leave, those schools will then accommodate their regular students. that means everyone will get a half day of classes. some parents not too happy about that. >> it tears everything apart, you know. we have got to put our kids in a

sleep earlier because they have to wake up earlier. they have to eat breakfast earlier. everything, kind of just a domino effect. >> reporter: glendale school superintendent says this is the best solution they could come up with on short notice, so as it stands, challenger and landmark remain closed, possibly for the next few weeks as they make emergency repairs. those students on thursday will then start double sessions at two two new schools, desert spirits and bicentennial north. those new sessions will start on wednesday morning. i'm linda williams, fox 10 news. the results from arizona's august primary election have been officially certified, but there's still one race that is up in the air, and it's a big one. the fifth congressional district, that's where andy biggs leads christine jones by just 16 votes now. the secretary of state's office will begin taking steps tomorrow to start a recount of the votes. but along with a recount, christine jones is also asking

she claims there were several anomalies in the initial count for district five, including a larger than normal number of votes that were simply thrown out because voted for more than one candidate. hillary clinton is resting at home tonight following an apparent collapse the 9/11 memorial event over the weekend in n clinton's doctor says she has pneumonia, diagnosed with it on wednesday. her health could have a major p. a valley doctor tells us that pneumonia is very common but it can have very serious. >> it's a very common condition. i have had many, many patients with pneumonia. we see it in children, young people, middle aged people, but it is more common common as people get into their 60s and older. most people recover completely

the trial of a former scottsdale yoga teacher is wrapping up with closing arguments starting today. >> lindsey radomski is accused of getting drunk at a bar mitzvah and letting teenage boys touch her breasts. >> nicole garcia has the latest from the courtroom. >> reporter: lindsey radomski is facing ten misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and public sexual indecency, the charges stem from the night of march 21st, 2015, when radomski got drunk at a bar mitzvah, where she is accused of having sexual contact with the birthday bay and seven others between the ages of 13 and 15. she got drunk, flashed her breasts at a party at north

>> that was the conversation that the defendant was having that night. and it became, do you want to see them? do you want to see them? and then it became showing them. >> reporter: the defense argues radomski is the victim in this case, that she was intoxicated, incapacitated, attacked and sexually assaulted by the group of boys. the defense claims the boys had a choice and they did not have to p acts, but they chose to do so. >> mrs. radomski is being charged when she was the one that was attacked. the state wants you to convict ms. radomski for numerous counts of criminal offenses because she chose to go to sleep in a house with a family of individuals she knew and loved. >> reporter: closing arguments will continue on tuesday. if convicted of all ten misdemeanors, radomski faces several months in city jail and

i'm nicole garcia, fox 10 news. across america, a fire at florida mosque is ruled an arson, and now the community is urging police to investigate this case as a hate crime. >> this fire coincides with the 15th anniversary of the september 11th attacks and the beginning of the muslim holiday. the mosque was also one that was attended by the orlando nightclub shooter. surveillance video captured shows a man on a motorcycle approaching the mosque. moments later, a flash is seen, and the now, thankfully no one was inside at the time but the building was badly damaged. the fbi is joining local police in investigating. a big fire breaks out on the west side of chicago tonight. those flames tore through a strip mall, and as you can see it is a total loss. at its worst, the claim was classified as a three alarm fire and a level two hazmat situationment two firefighters

but they are expected to be okay. crews now have the fire under control and the cause is under investigation. americans are digging deeper into a financial home. consumers racking up more than 34 billion bucks in credit card debt just between april and june. the average household balance driving up any reason $7,800. the report also says the nation is on electrical now to top 1 trillion bucks in credit card debt this year for the first time ever. and if you want to help to pay down that debt with an extra job, t you. the retailer says that it is going to hire more than 77,000 temporary workers in the upcoming holiday season. investors on monday, market rebounding after the federal reserve suggesting that a rate hike might not be coming this week. and talking money with your honey could make you happy.
