12:05 pm
old, the man with the broken leg. the new officer with the head injury is 33, and the 36-year-old officer, the third of those three officers had just minor injuries and was able to subdue that suspect. a lot of investigating to be done. this quiktrip, by the way, should open up again later this afternoon. reporting live from the west side, steve krafft, fox 10 news. >> thank you, steve. new at noon, call it a sign of the times here, phoenix city hall increasing security with metal detectors and screening, saying they need to beef up security in the wake of shootings in orlando and san bernadino that killed and injured dozens of people. the city said no specific threat led to this change, unlike many other large cities, visitors to phoenix city hall can currently enter the building freely without security screenings. the city is paying $400,000 for these upgrades. the body of a toddler who disappeared at lake powell has been recovered. just 18 months old from utah,
12:06 pm
houseboat saturday night. the mother lost sight. foul play is not being investigated at this time. closing arguments continue today in the trial of a former scottsdale yoga teacher accused of having sexual contact with some boys the a bar mitzvah. >> her name, lindsey radomski, her lawyer in court this morning attempted to that she is the victim, not the boys at the bar mitzvah. prosecutors say she got drunk and invited eight boys to fondle her newly augmented breasts. defense says she is the victim. today defense went over
12:07 pm
>> it would be one thing if she said each of the boys was being felt while they were touching on her, feeling on her. that would be deplorable. no one said that, for four hours. >> so radomski is facing ten misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and public sexual indecency. it did not go up to one of the higher courts at the county level, et cetera. this is happening in a local city court. if convicted of all ten misdemeanors, she could get a few months in the city jail and have to pay some fines. the jury left, and there was an opportunity to discuss a juror who seemed to keep falling asleep. the case is expected to go to the jury by the end of the juror. >> a sleeping juror is not good. that can get you kicked right off the jury.
12:08 pm
this is in riverside, california, east of l.a. they appear to be on a pretty rural stretch of highway there in southern california. the stolen semi just slowed down. we thought it might be over here, this chase, but this is so unusual because a lot of times we'll see them, the police officers or the chp in this case, puncture somebody's tires or try to do one of those pit maneuvers where they spin them out. that is not going to be happening here. >> it looks as though the 18-wheeler, the driver has moved off to the right, the far right la, speed down, troy, as you mentioned. california highway patrol look like they have their lights on there in the front and they are following even closer now than we have been previously watching. so again, this is live coverage of this chase here of this 18-wheeler in riverside county, live coverage for you. you see some of the helicopters up above. we are watching this very closely and will continue it. we are going to take quick

12:11 pm
you're watching fox 10 news at noon with troy hayden and syleste rodriguez in hd. all right. let's check back in now on this chase of a stolen semi-truck out of riverside, california. really nothing has changed since we first started covering this for you 10 or 11 minutes ago now. somebody got inside this semi, and that's why this is an unusual chase. we don't see semis involved in this very often, because frankly they are not the gearing system is much different than a regular vehicle, so you don't get people jumping in semis and taking off very often. >> not very often, no. you just saw california highway patrol following this 18-wheeler here, this driver. and at one point we saw them slowing down and it looked as they were going to come to an end here, but it looks as though it's possibly picked up a little bit of speed. and again this is out of riverside over the course of the last 20 minutes or so, is what
12:12 pm
has done this, who is inside of this 18-wheeler, troy, i think that's the big question, and whether or not they have enough fuel to last them as long as they are hoping to go. >> yeah, you know, i was thinking that. my twitter address is @troyhaydenfox10, so if there are any truckers out there who are watching this right now, now these trucks are designed for long haul trucking. now i know that they can carry a very large amount of fuel, but if you know, can you tweet me and let me know how far these generally go you saw them pulling by a couple of chp vehicles, suvs ran in behind this guy, and it appears that he is picking up speed. >> yeah, absolutely, pick up speed on this freeway, and with california highway patrol following closely. we are taking a closer look in, as you see the pilot here and the photo journalist in this helicopter kind of zoom in a little bit to hopefully give us a better idea of who is inside this 18-wheeler, who is leading this thing, who is driving this truck. and, you know, it's pretty
12:13 pm
whether or not it's a female or a male, but definitely it looks as though they may be the only ones in the vehicle. i'm trying to see if there is anybody in the passenger seat as well troy. >> they appear to be very calm, i will say that. we are streaming this now. go to fox10phoenix.com. we are going to stay on this thing, unedited, until the very end, if you go there on our news now site. so fox10phoenix.com. we are going to take a quick break, and then we'll be right
12:15 pm
fox 10 news is back. all right. back out to live pictures in southern california. apparently this chase began a couple of hours ago in a place called apple valley and now it is east of los angeles, and just
12:16 pm
viewers, i said, okay, how long can these semis go and how long could this chase go. we did a little bit of research and i got a couple of responses on my twitter page. this could be going on for sometime. if this semi is fully loaded with fuel, it seems to be the consensus that it could drive for over a thousand miles. think about that. it could get almost halfway across the country. and i don't know exactly how you would end up stopping a semi-truck. >> some of the early reports indicate that it could be stolen. there are indications as well, that chp, california highway patrol, have been in contact with the driver, who has reportedly said that he does not want to go back to jail. troy, we heard details about a possible hazmat crew being called in. >> right, and one of the people who got on my twitter and said that they can go over a thousan have hazmat placards on it.
12:17 pm
in between the truck and the cab and the unit, does that say explosive? i can't really see what that says, or corrosive, that red sign that's right in between the two. it's hard for me to see that. so just add that to the mix of danger this you're talking about here. tens of thousands of pounds, this vehicle is, with an extremely powerful diesel engine, most likely, can stay on the road for thousands of miles, if it's filled up with fuels. depending on how fast it's driving, think of the with hazardous materials. >> it's been on the road for almost two hours, started at about 10:30 this morning, as troy mentioned, in apple valley. what we are told right now is that it is not beaumont area of california, eastbound along the 60. began this morning at apple valley. of course we are streaming this live as well on fox news now. you can check that out there, and we'll stream it live
12:18 pm
>> that's fox10phoenix.com to get on that. how about that, cory? it looks like a nice day over there at least. >> nice all over the west. >> nice here as well. >> if i have to be out in the weather, i do like to be nice. >> yeah, good. i'm with you on that, bud. >> you kind of set yourself up this week there, blondie. >> it's really nice out there. we have got a few, low hanging clouds. no real weather makers there. but it's a pretty day for sure, and we are in for lots more of them as we move through this week, 93 at sky harbor now a south breeze at nine miles an hour, although that breeze has been really kicking up. that will be kind of the big story today, the windy conditions out there. 101 your normal high. we won't get there, 109 your record, that coming in the year 2000. as you look across the west again not much shaking out here. we have got mostly fair skies across the valley. although we are starting to see in the rim country, often the case during the monsoon, and we are wrapping up the monsoon
12:19 pm
still have some moisture kicking up a few showers up north, and windy conditions picking up here and across northern arizona, the top gusts in kingman about 40 miles an hour or so, about 30 or so in flagstaff, sedona 32 or so, all along i-40 it is kind of dicey out there. the temperatures are nice, but the winds are very, very strong. and here's a look at the metro area. again, some of these gusts in last 15 minutes or so. so it will be a breezy day for sure, but fair skies scheduled for the valley, although we do have a few of those showers and thunderstorms popping to the north and east of us. 90 in good year, same at gateway and cave creek.
12:20 pm
wichita, 80 in omaha. cold air continues to spill its way in from the plains, and it has been causing some showers and thunderstorms here across northern missouri and pushing across lake michigan as well. back here in arizona, your daytime highs look like this. today we'll call it the mid to upper 90s for the desert parts of the state, 77 in sedona and a perfect 65 degrees in flagstaff. so here's that forecast over the next few days. again, i'm doing my best to hold to my promise to troy things under a hundred degrees. now, got a hundred on the nose scheduled for next tuesday and wednesday. but again, it's a week away. >> yeah. >> i have still got time to work on it. >> and you are going to be here that day, won't you? >> i will. that's my pledge to you. >> back out to this chase.
12:21 pm
>> beaumont, and new information that it's eastbound now, on the i-10. >> towards phoenix. >> helicopter coverage says that they are probably a little bit close to palm springs, so headed this way, anyway. >> right, so you know this whole section if you have driven to l.a. so they are coming up from l.a., probably getting close to that area where you start getting the mountains coming out, and you start to get into the big windmills as you get into the palm springs area.
12:22 pm

chopper video back for you here, troy, and new information in. they are getting closer to the palm springs area. they are on i-10 eastbound, is when we are hearing. >> you can see the terrain kind of changing, can't you? it's almost getting more deserty as they head up. this truck is going to be climbing. actually, the i-10 climbs pretty precipitously right before you get to the mountains and those windmills and things. so it will slow down a bit. still, it doesn't matter how slow it's going. with vehicles this size, how can you stop it? can you puncture tires that size with stop sticks? i am not sure you can. >> you can watch this live on fox news now on fox10phoenix.com. >> yeah, i'm interested to see
