here he plows into them sending a 33-year-old officer and his first day on the job cartwheeling through the air. his sergeant trapped underneath with a broken leg. the car just missed another officer. he ran up and started battling with payne. along with the rookie >> unbelievable. our officer that hits the front of the glass and smashes the glass, gets back up to take the suspect into custody. >> it took a taser but they subdued him. >> we heard about officers being target communities across this nation but this happened here this happened in phoenix. this happened to your phoenix police officers. it's unacceptable. no names released for those phoenix police officers. now police are saying they believe that payne was impaired at the time of the attack but they believe that attack was intentional. reporting live, steve krafft,

nicole garcia continues our team coverage now and she is live with what we are learning now about the suspect involved. yeah, we are waiting for mark pain to be book into the fourth avenue jail. we are told he will be here any minute now and is facing three counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault this whole incident might feel like deja vu for mark payne. this is not the first time has attacked police officers. according to court documents, back in december of 1997, mark payne was arrested after attacking three officers. the same number of officers he is accused of attacking this morning he was accused of attacking three officers back in 1997 causing them injury. back then he was charged with three counts of aggravated assault. ultimately according to court documents he entered into a plea deal and was sentenced to

in 1997. now today chief yahner did not talk much about payne during the news conference. so we don't have a motive at this time. and police -- but police do say impairment does appear to be a factor in this morning's attack. again, we were still waiting for mark payne to be booked here into the fourth avenue jail. he is facing three counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault. of course, we will stay on this developng story and dig deeper into mark payne's past and bring you new developments as we learn about them. reporting live, nicole garcia, "fox 10 news." thank you very much. fox 10 follow up on the two bodies that were found in a home in sun city west on saturday. they were those of a husband and a wife but there is no word yet on how the couple died. they are dieded as 87-year-old jack reid and 84-year-old

phoenix city hall changing its security set up and now entering the building could be similar to going through airport security. residents who visit city hall will go through metal detectors and will have their bags screened with an x-ray machine. officials say they want to beef up security in the wake of the mass shootings in orlando and san bernardino. the city estimates that 25,000 people visit city hall. the neighboring municipal building every single week. now at a local rally is that being held opposing the dakota access pipeline. people in phoenix joining in solidarity with native american tribes across the country. this is over at the phoenix still indian school park. they want the construction stopped and you can see a large crowd pouring in to this rally activists have been protesting at the site in north dakota. they are saying that pipeline would tarnish their sacred land and contaminate their water

speak. she was the first native american woman in history to die in combat while serving in the u.s. military. today's rally will go until 7:00. you decide, by friday we could know who won the gop congressional race, annie biggs or christine jones. this race was razor thin. as biggs led jones by 16 votes out of 86,000 votes that were cast. a judge ordered state to conduct a recount of the ballots. results will be released friday. whom ever wins this primary will be favored to win the open seat in congress. a driver plows right into a phoenix business today shearing off an entire wall and the driver may have had a medical issue. fox 10's ty brennan is live now with a closer look at the damage that was done. this all happened early this afternoon at the corner of

right now are working to shore up that building. the driver was heading in the westbound directions of indian school when he had that medical episode and careened right into this building. it's very lucky nobody was hurt. >> we are just dumbfounded for a second. >> walter is still shaken after an suv comes careens through his office building at 22nd avenue and indian school road. >> we were helping a customer and it sounded like a bomb off. >> as you can see in this video, the force of the crash sheared the entire wall off of the business united aluminum. he jumped over the counter to check on his co-workers and to see what happened. he was in disbelief to see an suv sitting in his office. >> that's my office right there. thank god i wasn't at my desk. i think i would have been killed. that's my desk right there. >> phoenix police say the driver of the car was not badly hurt and may have had a medical issue causing him to lose control of

lanes of traffic and crash into the building. police say it was lucky nobody was hurt. >> everybody is fine a little shooken up but everybody is fine. now the building inspector was here on scene to check for this but this building will be closed for quite sometime for repairs. we are told the driver will not be facing any charges. but again nobody hurt out here tonight. reporting live, ty brennan, "fox 10 news." you heard of car chases and we have seen them over and over and motorcycle it's not often troopers are chasing an 18 wheeler a semi-truck down a busy highway and that happened in southern california today and it when on for more than three hours. this was something. >> all of this unfolding near riverside. the pursuit involved a semi-truck near apple valley. the chase lasted for hours across a handful of busy california freeways. the san bernardino sheriff's office says it all began after

we do have some flood advisories. they are going to be in effect until 6:00 this evening. some of them just a little later than that but not much. we also have some wind advisories. that wind advisory is hanging around until 7:00 this evening. good reason for it. you can see -- look at these wind gusts, up to 40 miles per hour. they had been up to 45 miles per hour in some areas. this little pocket of the northwest really going pretty good as is the safford area with 28-mile-per-ho w this time. this is the future cast and this is the way things are looking now with all of that moisture to the east of us. we move that on out of here and over the next couple of days. we just clear it off and clear it out and things are looking good. there is friday in the evenings. we have a couple of days of it. 98 degrees for the high today. 98 degrees in buckeye. 97 degrees in glendale. 96 degrees in scottsdale with a 97 out in gateway.
