well, good afternoon. first on fox we are following a story created a chaotic morning for students there. >> and their parents. maricopa high school on lockdown and evacuated, students bused to a nearby middle school because of a bomb threat. >> linda williams joins us live on the scene with details about how it all went down. >> reporter: no bomb was found here, celeste and troy. this was officially a hoax according to the maricopa police department. now, we are at the high school now.

class would have started at about 9:00, but at about 6:30 this morning, a fax came into the maricopa unified school district with threats and there was a bomb somewhere on campus. also within that fax, threats that somehow teachers here would be taken hostage for ransom. well, you're looking at the result of that one fax, and that is from skyfox. you can see all of these kids who were winds middle school to be picked pup by parents. classes were immediately cancelled. the school was put in lockdown while they brought in bomb sniffing dogs to go throughout the entire campus. no device was found. it does turn out that this wasn't the only bomb hoax in the country. maricopa police telling us that schools in two other states received similar threatening faxes.

received them. i believe there was one in iowa, there was one in atlanta that received the same type of fax. >> at the same time? >> i don't know the time on that one. i do know that the wording on it was very similar to what we had. >> reporter: and that one school was in actually mcdermott ohio, not iowa as he originally stated there. the other school in atlanta, georgia. police called this a spoof fax. so there is no phone number attached. there is no way to trace it back they say they are, of course, doing what they can, but for now three high schools that we know of across the country, maricopa high school being one of them, disrupted by this fax spoof, they call it. of course, the investigation continues as they try to find out who did this. for now, no injuries, no bomb found, and school will go on as usual here at maricopa high school tomorrow.

reporting live in maricopa, fox 10 news. >> all right, linda. thank you. new at noon, eastbound i-10 is back up following a humvee rollover crash that took place earlier today, skyfox over the scene near verrado way where a military humvee pulling a trailer rolled. it slowed traffic in both directions. an suv also rolled over on the scene, making this a two vehicle collision. a few minor i reported, i-10 has reopened but traffic is still slowed. an incident at arizona cardinals, a woman says she was violated, a man facing sexual abuse charges here. here's the man we are talking about. she was in a stairwell, the woman says, at university of phoenix of stadium, when the man touched her leg in a sexual way as she walked by her. she told police she hit him with her phone and held on to him

police say mauro had been drinking heavily but he still denied touching the woman in the way she said she did. a bazooka allegedly used to fire packages into the united states. it was in sonora. inside police found an air a gas generator. no word on what it was shooting over the border. fox follow-up on the crash over the weekend. >> today we are hearing from the parents of the pilot named ryan kilgore who helped prevent any loss of line as the plane was coming down. four sky divers were on board but were able to jump out of the plane before it crashed at gilbert and ray road. the two people inside of the plane were able to get out

but are expected to be okay. the family read a statement near the hospital where he is recovering. >> he flew his incapacitated aircraft as long as possible. miraculously, when his sky divers were able to safely get away, he jumped, wearing the parachute that pilots are required to wear. his immediate questions about those who may have been injured as a result of the plane going down. ryan was deeply concerned for the safety of the family whose home was damaged in the crash. to his relief, he learned that no one else had been injured. >> his family also shared today that he has been flying for more than ten years. investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the plane to go down. big day in court for a sexual assault suspect. he's been behind bars for almost two years, and he could be let

case. police saying he sexually assaulted 13 different girls, and they were young, between the ages of 12-17 years old. back in july, he was released on bond when that ruling was made, but an arizona supreme court justice then put that ruling on hold so he was brought back into custody this month. today the state's highest court will hear arguments on whether or not he should be released on bond. developing today, the case of a man involved in running down three phoenix police officers hea status conference held for mark payne. prosecutors say he targeted officers last week in a qt parking lot. he hit two with his car, the whole thing caught on surveillance video. the third officer hit was able to arrest payne but not without a struggle. we are learning this isn't the first time payne has been in trouble for something like this. in '97, he was accused of assaulting officers during a traffic stop. he ended up cutting a deal in

with troy hayden and syleste rodriguez. well, welcome back. developing today, the man accused of planting bombs in new york and new jersey is being charged with attempted murder, is also being held on a $5.2 million bail. police found 28-year-old ahmad khan rahami sleeping in a bar in linden, new jersey, yesterday morning, captured him after a shootout right there in the middle of the streets. rahami was born in afghanistan and grew up in new jersey. those who knew him say they are shocked by his arrest. >> got more religious, that's the only change i seen, more mature and more religious. >> based on the information that we have now, we have every reason to believe this was an act of terror. >> rahami recently traveled to afghanistan and pakistan, but has no known ties to terror groups. the bombings injured 29 people.

on those attacks in new york and new jersey and both candidates are now using the attacks as an opportunity to go after each other, hillary clinton and donald trump praising law enforcement and first responders, the ones who raced to the scene after the blast. but then they went after each other there. clinton said trump isn't ready to deal with extremists, and trump blamed the creation of i.s.i.s. on clinton during her time as secretary of state. >> hillary clinton talks tougher about my supporters than she does about islamic terrorists. this race who has been part of the hard decisions to take terrorists off the battlefield. you don't hear a plan from him. he keeps saying he has a secret plan. the secret is he has no plan. . >> reporter: both candidates met with world leaders yesterday on the sidelines of the u.n. general assembly. happening today, ground breaking at the east valley airport, kicking off a major

north april reconstruction project set to rereplace 1 million square feet of concrete, originally laid 75 years ago. this construction is creating more than a hundred jobs. the service level of lake mohave is expected to drop seven feet during the next few weeks, but this is all being done on purpose. federal officials say it is a conservation effort to harvest razor back sucker fish from nearby ponds. >> wow, that is cool. >> which is a everybody except the razor back sucker fish, cory. the bureau says it's part of an annual effort to restore the native fish to natural habitats. the lake surface will drop by the end of november. after that, water levels will again rise in early november. coming up, jim carrey being sued

delivering more. i'm with troy on that. i don't know what the holdup is. but we do see gray skies out there, and they are low, low hanging. a nice day if you love the cool weather, this cloudy situation. we have got 85 for you now, northwest breeze at about 12, we usually top out at about a hundred, but i don't think we are going to make it today. here's the way it all looks. this is all being caused by the hurricane whose name is pretty well illustrated here, but down now to a very minimal hurricane, soon to be tropical storm strength as it continues to work its way northward, it is encountering somewhat cooler water as it moves up along the baja. again, it won't be long before the storm begins to blow itself out. additionally, once it hits land and moves over the peninsula, then it will really start to fall apart. for now, it is bringing on the showers, and some of them are on the heavy side, though not here

cutting over towards lake havasu city, and then north and east ward into northern arizona, it's kind of busy. right now we have a couple of faint sprinkles here up towards cave creek and north scottsdale, but that's about all we have got really going here in the valley, some light showers there in surprise. most of that is so light you'll barely notice it. however, as you begin to widen out a bit, western flagstaff, you folks over here in lake havasu, you keep an eye out. rainfall starting to work its way toward you. keep your eyes there on the southwestern skies because that's going to be a soaker for you for a little while anyway, and again west of flagstaff on i-40, very busy from ash fork to williams over near bellemont. it's going to be kind of busy over there, so that weather will continue to work its way on to north and east. perhaps tuba city you want to keep an eye out too, because we have got some weather working its way toward you. that's kind of the way the day
