in a hospital. today, his parents spoke about what happened and their son's recovery. >> on saturday evening, september 17, we received a call that no parent wants to receive. >> reporter: saturday night, a skydive plane plunged into the home in gilbert. the home was destroyed but everyone got out without a scratch. >> thanks to his quick and appropriate reaction, everyone on the plane survived. >> reporter: the mother and father met with media today where their son is recovering from burns. ryan stayed at the controls long enough for skydivers to jump out. >> miraculously when the skydivers were away safely and the plane lost the ability to fly, he jumped with the parachute that skydiveer pilots are required to wear.

the fax mentioned a number of threats, including a mention of a bomb. students were taken to a middle school about seven miles away. parents picked up their kids there. >> i'm not shaken. i'm not that frightened. i don't know if other people were freaking out because this is a big deal. you never know if anyone might be serious or if it is really bad. >> i was kind of concerned but i got texting my prayer warriors and after i got over the initial threat, it is kind of sad because i just start praying for the person that called it in. >> one of the things that investigators are looking at, schools in ohio and atlanta received the same threat by fax today. police are investigating it. two students caught with guns, a 13-year-old, seventh

in his backpack at cactus middle school in casa grande. he showed the firearm to another student. he has been released to his parents and may face charges. also another student in north phoenix after that teen brought a handgun to the campus as well. back in may, a 17-year-old was found with a loaded gun in his backpack. a preacher who told young women they deserve to be raped and gay people are going to hell have been arrested in tucson. dean saxton is accused of kicking a female student. he has been banned from the campus for about a year and due in court on assault charges. back in april, police arrested a woman for hitting saxton on the

oklahoma police officer who shot and killed an unarmed man says the man ignored officer's commands and reached through the windows of the s.u.v. before he was killed. on friday night, police were investigating 40-year-old terrance crutcher's stalled vehicle in tulsa. he had his hands raised and officers followed him. at some point, he was tazed and officer betty shelby shot and crutcher's family says the window was never open to begin with. >> the video shows what happened. what happened was terrance had his hands up. terrance did not make any sudden movements. the only movement that happened was when terrance was hit by the taser.

rain in the past hour because of tropical depression paine. it is expected to make landfall by wednesday and by that time it will be a remanent low. we'll see sticky conditions out there. cloud cover and scattered activity for wednesday and thursday as well. we may see a few stray showers as well. not a soaker by any means. numbers are 85 in safford. 68 for 61 in tucson. 52 for flag. temperatures around the valley are below average. normally we're around the 100-degree mark. today, we topped out at 89 degrees a far cry from what we've seen back in 2010. the temperatures will be pleasant, a little warmer than what we saw out there today. 92 expected for the afternoon on the first day of fall. we'll cool down into the 80's.
