into a money raising effort to help make some repairs here on the campus. that fund-raiser is at peter piper pizza at seventh avenue and osborne. reporting live in phoenix, i'm andrew hasbun, fox 10 news. the owner of a valley convenience store has been arrested for fraud. myra ramirez accused of using her retail store to allow customers to exchange food stamps for cash and letting customers buy ineligible items with their cards. $600,000. ramirez facing a bunch of charges tonight. a gruesome discovery at a san juan capistrano yard in south phoenix. police called in after somebody finds what appears to be a body in the field near the commercial business. still no details about who the victim might be, how the body part ended up in that area. phoenix police are continuing to investigate. a mesa man in jail, charged with sharing child pornography online. police got a tip that this man,

picture of child porn that he had to a website. they served a search warrant on his apartment yesterday. they say they found more than 30 other pictures and videos of child pornography on his computer. he is charged now with sexual exploitation of a minor. police in glendale are looking for a man woman who was just standing by in the neighborhood. police want to find this guy before he does something even more dangerous. >> reporter: absolutely. we went around kind of showing neighbors this. they say they've been on high alert after what happened. they are going to try to stretch it out a little bit. they say they're going to keep their eyes and ears out for whoever did this. according to police, around 1:40

case could wind up costing taxpayers $72 million. that's the estimation. fox 10's marc martinez joins us with the latest. >> reporter: sheriff joe arpaio lost the original case more than three years ago, which then became a civil contempt case, after the judge accused sheriff joe arpaio and his top aides of violating the court's order. the case has cost $50 million, but it's expec another $20 million before it's all over. the maricopa county board of supervisors voted unanimously to pay $4.4 million in legal fees for the attorneys who won the racial profiling case against sheriff joe arpaio. the supervisors making it clear attorney's fees, but legally had no other choice. >> to be clear, we don't have the election as to whether or not we want to pay this. this is one of those things that under the statutes we have a responsibility to pay. >> we shouldn't be in this position.

it. you sit here, and i could start writing up a wish list, what could we have done with $4.4 million? >> reporter: aclu attorneys handling the case against arpaio said most of their costs stem from court violations for continuing immigration sweeps months after he was ordered to stop them. the original cost to cover the attorney's fees was nearly $6 million but was negotiated down to $4.4 million to be paid out of a $20 million county emergency fund. >> there is money set is beyond what we had set aside. this will come out of our general contingency. >> i'm grateful we were able to reduce it by $1.5 million, but it's still a substantial amount f money coming out of the taxpayers pockets. >> reporter: meanwhile, federal prosecutors are deciding whether to bring a criminal contempt

destruction of new video shows rahami running in linden, new jersey, where he was taken into custody in a shootout with police. and we're learning he was able to easily purchase those components for his bombs on ebay. rahami's wife, who fled the country just before the bombings, was caught in the united arab emirates. she is expected to be extradited back to the united states within 72 hours. meantime, the fbi searching for the took luggage holding a bomb, one that never exploded in new york city. they were seen removing the bomb from a piece of luggage and then leaving the device behind and taking the suitcase. investigators believe the men could know something about the attack that wounded 29 people in manhattan. still ahead tonight at 5:00, new video of that plane that crashed in gilbert over the weekend.

we're taking you live to north carolina, second day in a row it looks like there are more protests on the streets. this in response to the police shooting of keith lamont scott, a 43-year-old who was shot dead in the parking lot of an apartment complex on tuesday by a police officer in charlotte. >> protesters gathering tonight. they have taken to the streets in anger over that fatal police shooting. you can see media crews moving among the protesters. there are ev involved that are caught up in some of this. pretty big crowd starting to grow, and we'll have to see what happens when nightfall is in full swing. >> the man who was shot, police say had a gun. his family disagrees. he was simply reading a book. he was shot by an officer, an african-american officer. last night the protests turned very violent. we had several police officers who were hurt. there's a lot of violence in the

california still burning, and it's become the most expensive fire in u.s. history, costing more than $200 million to battle so far. that figure does not include the actual damage that was done by the fire to homes that were destroyed. the fire has been burning two months in california's big sur coast area. that fire began from an illegal camp fire that got out of control. that fire is still only 71% contained. a crew of 2,000 is still fighting it. are getting a little bit of moisture, but not that part unfortunately. we saw a little bit of rain here in the valley. most of it was off to the west of us. there's another chance of rain in the forecast. 98 is where we are right now. a mix of sun and clouds today. we started off with clouds this morning. then the sun came out, and it just was muggy and sticky out there, 28% humidity. that dewpoint 60 tells you how humid it really is and how sticky it is.

we do have another chance for rain in the forecast. it's still paine we're dealing with. now it's just a low pressure system that continues to bring a little shower activity to the extreme south western corridor of our state. we're going to continue to see a chance of rain in the forecast. a little slight chance tonight. 15% chance tonight. then we clear out a lut l bit, and we'll see a returning chance we're seeing some rain still in the corner of our state, the extreme northwestern corner. we see, as we zoom in a little closer, a little rain falling up near the i-8 coming up from mexico. gila bend pretty much missing out on the rain. there's a little rain starting out over to the east of 85. gila bend could get hit in a little bit.

we are keeping an eye. you can see they are forming. the rain falls, and then they disappear. that's what we'll see tomorrow night. we could see a 50% chance of rain on thursday. these dewpoints are all very high, especially when you go from phoenix and move southwesterly, you're looking at dewpoints around 68 in gila bend. you know that anything over 55 on a dewpoint means we have enough moisture in the air to support strong storms. any tim 55 is when we get the rain showers. just a little bit of rain. mainly to the northern part of our state. and our futurecast, i want to show you this going into thursday. we see a little band make its way toward us, and that rain could bring showers thursday, which could mean tomorrow around midday. look for a chance of storms. temperatures in the 70s and 80s tomorrow. a little bit cooler.

tower in iraq. since then he's several of his colleagues struggling with ptsd waiting years to get help from the v.a. larry had to wait 5 1/2 years to get all of his claims resolved by the v.a. when a friend of his committed suicide, he knew he needed to raise awareness, starting this national campaign moving from the east coast to the west coast. he named this tour "the hump." larry left north carolina back at the beginning of april. he arrived here this afternoon. while he's here, he'll be making his way by foot within individual cities. he uses an rv to get city to city. by foot, he's visiting a variety of first responders, giving them meals, giving them gift cards in order to thank them for all that they do. >> this, more than anything, has helped me. getting to reconnect with your family, your brothers and your sisters, and these first responders that put it all on the line daily.

chemotherapy. >> it's unexpected and welcome touch in an otherwise challenging day or time for patients. >> reporter: bill nolan, general manager of mckisson, says it's important to show these patients they're not alone. >> the whole purpose is just to say, hey, somebody cares. while there are moments that are isolating and scary and you feel alone, we want to you know that somebody out there with no name or face is thinking and praying and caring about you. >> reporter: anzi williams is a cancer survivor herself, andhe packages today, writing notes and tieing the blankets together, which she says is most helpful. >> i think a blanket because the rooms are cold. so trying to stay warm. you're getting fluids in there. all your medication is infused. it's kind of cold to the body. so having that blanket and having that extra cover to just know that somebody else cared to provide it. >> reporter: over the last five years, she battled colon cancer. she's been cancer free since

we're getting a look at a new video of that plane that went down in the east valley saturday night. a first look now at video from the plane that went down in the east valley saturday night. this video came in from kevin sundine. this is his video. you can see what looks like a fireball plummeting from the sky. this is actually the plane after the four sky diver plane's pilot jumped to safety. >> from sky fox, you can see all of the devastation left behind. that is where the plane crashed into the home. the entire home burned to basically sticks of wood and some stucco. >> tonight the neighborhood where that plane went down, they are rallying around the family whose home is completely destroyed. linda williams is following the story. she joins us with more. this was so bad on so many fronts but amazing that no one was killed.
