wide area searches, whatever the mission requirement asks for. and the crew has been deployed to disasters before including hurricane katrina. and walt disney world, sea world, universal studios and other attractions they shut down today and they will be closed through tomorrow. it's not often the theme parks close their doors but many have during major storms including hurricane charlie in 2004. and hurricane floyd in 1999. >> the scientists tell us this is likely the largest and most powerful hurricane to hit the united states in a decade or so. >> with hurricane matthew roaring back up to category 4 strength and packing 140-mile-per-hour winds, president obama declared an emergency in florida. ordering federal aid to supplement local storm response efforts and authorizing federal agencies to take action. >> there are those who doubt the intensity or the severity of the storm. they need only look at the

haiti. >> matthew already slammed parts of the caribbean and haiti alone it's left more than 100 dead. back home national guard troops have been called up. many senior citizens and hospital patients in coastal areas are being moved inland. >> evacuate, evacuate, evacuate. are you willing to take a chance to risk your life? >> with gas, food and other staples in short supply in many places, and hundreds of flights ca to take advantage of emergency shelters. >> it's too risky to stay. and just wanted to stay safe and really hope we have the grace to accept the aftermath. >> and that was joel waldman reporting. we just got word that 283 people have now been killed in haiti from that storm. 283. quite an increase from what we had earlier. dave munsey is tracking hurricane matthew and joins us

>> well we are taking a look at it and to see what's going on as far as the moisture content, there is a lot of flooding with it. and there is a lot of wind with this particular storm as well. a lot going on in the united states across the country. as we get a look at this storm, you can see that it is now a category 3 with the winds at 130 miles per hour. so it slowe but something interesting about this storm even though it has slowed down in its movement out on the northwest at 13, you can see, look at that curve that it's going to take after it goes through the carolinas. that is very interesting because as you can see it is headed back in the direction of miami. so we will keep our eye on that. let's take a look at the future cast now. roll it along and you can see, look at melbourne, that is probably tomorrow morning the area that is going to be

particular hurricane. and then that will stay not only on the shoreline but a little bit on land as well as it heads up to charleston. charleston has a history of flooding in heavy rains. so charleston is going to be somewhat of a problem as well. and as we get you to look at what a category 3 is, sustained winds between 111 and 130 miles per hour, we also have very extensive damage can be produced from a category 3 and power outages can last after a category 3.& we will take a look at what's going on in our weather and any updates we get with matthew coming up. all right, thank you. and cruise lines are rerouting their ships around the storm. hundreds of flights have been canceled to and from florida today and also tomorrow. including at sky harbor airport. orlando airport may shut down tonight and the airport in fort lauderdale that closed earlier today. fox 10 steve krafft is live at sky harbor with reaction from

florida. >> speaking of canceled flights where we have learned that american airlines has canceled 12 flights between phoenix and miami and orlando between now and saturday. meanwhile, folks who were able to get out of florida today who got here the valley of the sun were so so happy to be here. >> at sky harbor airport, beautiful blue skies. a perfect sunny day. it m fled hurricane matthew. we spoke to passengers arriving in the valley of the sun from as far north as savannah, georgia, down into florida as far south as miami. >> how concerned are people in miami? >> it was pretty hectic. i lived in miami for the last 12 years and we haven't seen a big hurricane probably since i would think wilma. so i mean the publix, the gas stations and the radios were announcing, you can find gas here at the costco. i heard there is a delivery trucks so everybody is helping

people are taking it seriously. >> we are used to it. i think we get so many of these storms that sort of just get named and you don't know where they are going and you sit tight and wait to see if it's headed in your direction or not. if it is, you are preparing. go to the grocery store and get water and flashlights and batteries and food, canned food. things like that. >> how happy are you to be here? >> very happy. it's going to get worse in the northern part, miami maybe out of the direct effect. from fort lauderdale north and most likely palm beach are the areas and jackson. >> passengers coming in from georgia said a lot of people are trying to leave. >> the east coast in georgia, that's been all the schools are canceled since yesterday. and so it's they are expecting it to be pretty bad. >> amanda is from savannah. her husband back home making plans to evacuate.

some 2 million people along the southeast have now been told to evacuate. we will have an update with dave munsey on the forecast in a couple of minutes. an arizona teenager is about to embark on an incredible journey. organizing and taking part in a 1400 mile run to protest the dakota access pipeline a relay run and show you the route here it will start here in flagstaff. then he will head up to arizona from there crescent junction, utah. meeker, colorado, rollins, wyoming and then off to spearfish, south dakota, and ending in cannonball, north dakota. >> i never ran 1400 miles before. only like three. but that's only competition. and not really running a competition. >> reilly ortega is a prescott valley teenager with strong convictions about stopping pollution. so he organized the run to support the nationwide demonstration at the dakota access pipeline site where hundreds of native americans have gathered.

lodge line of runners. >> so he figured, hey, i'm only 15, what can i do? and he thought that by running it would hopefully generate a lot of popularity, a lot of awareness to bring to the dakota pipeline. >> that interstate pipeline would carry thousands of gallons of oil across four states. laticatea people are concerned about water contamination and say a pipeline break could devastate the missouri and mississippi rivers. awareness and just help my people for the water. >> i was amazed. coming from a sophomore in high school to have this idea and to want to contribute to the cause and do it in that manner. i thought was great. >> other nations are showing support. three other runners will join him. his parentser lori and aaron will be there to support him on his remarkable trek.

florida that has never had a storm that powerful. 87 degrees. winds out of the west at eight miles er hour. 84 at deer valley. 84 in ahwatukee. high pressure really taking care of the southwest. you can see a little bit of active weather around the west here, but that is changing a little bit as well. future cast. give you a look at what's going on. not much happening. you see cloud cover come in and see a little moisture coming in the and kind of flipping around a little bit here and there. a couple of different places -- look at that stuff in the south and the east. we see some moisture finding its way back into the state as we get into the weekend and here you see sunday really pretty loads up the north along the rim in places like that. still a little breezy in a couple of different places. there is your high on the day today at 90 degrees. we had an 87 in deer valley. 88 at buckeye.

65 in flagstaff. 77 in sedona. 92 today in yuma. here is your story. 90 on the high. 67 on the low. 92 and 69 normal high and low. there is your record high at 105. your record low at 46. take a look here across the country and see what's going on with this. boy, look at this. storm system coming out of kansas. in parsons tornadic activity up to five inches of rain. and here we get back matthew. a category 3 storm. take a look at it here as we put the future cast into motion. there is melbourne. that's early tomorrow morning. that is where we think the eye is going to come on board. look at that moisture. is it going to be dragging north with it and is that going to be a problem for a lot of people. 65 degrees overnight. 95 degrees with a few clouds for tomorrow. little chance of rain on saturday. and then you can see we stick with the 90s for a little bit there as well.

very intriguing trend in college football. you hear about the spread offense but more and more programs are considering the pro set. ucla loses a player and then go to a pro set offense by a young quarterback who is dynamic and that means asu has got their hands full. they can get the ball down field. you can see like kenny walker here with the touchdown. run after the catch and talented team, and big up front and experience in the they got the young quarterback who continues to light it up. they beat byu and they scored 45 points against the arizona wild cats. and there you see again the passing ability of josh rosen, number three. this is a talented and very challenging football team for the sun devils as they get set to line up against the bruins come saturday night. and certainly for todd graham he respects ucla's new pro set
