the interstate started to rise. we decided better safe than sorry and we came back here on the interstate. rain, wind, and a lot of it. we're at a gas station. we were trying to get a little bit of cover. just because we're on this side of the interstate, we are not immune. this is flew off as a result of the wind. at this point, glen county commissioners have asked people to stay inside and shelter in place until hurricane matthew passes us by. >> claire simms reporting for us tonight. thank you very much. >> boy, things are rough. you can see it in the live shot. downtown savannah a ghost town.

tourist town. hundreds of people showed up to catch buses to augusta. it is the first evacuation on the georgia coast since 1999. >> this video looks like a fireworks show but it is a power through grazed the town overnight. >> as thicks -- things down, there is still concern. >> reporter: let's look at it, a category two right now. right off of jacksonville, in fact, let's take a look at the numbers here. 110 miles an hour moving north at 12 miles an hour. as we get in closer, you can see this is the saturday projection

by sunday as it starts making that little bitty turn by norfolk. there is jacksonville. there is the eye right there. we put it into position. look at charleston here. it is going to be south of charleston but look at the moisture that comes in front of it. it pushes the storm surge, nine feet is what they are talking about and the moisture up to 16 inches of rain in front of it. watch what happens south of new york, new york gets a break but it heads up into nova scotia and brunswick. it is a category two, as we mentioned, that is sustained winds 96-110 miles an hour. the damage will be catastrophic flooding and it is going to kickoff a few tornadoes and that will case extensive damage. we have more weather coming up because there is weather around the country other than that that will be in a few minutes.

the good news is it appears people heeded the evacuation orders in foley beach. the normally packed streets is deserted. think of these towns would be bustling. >> a tourist destination for sure. >> the boarded up builds. police have been checking who comes in and out. >> the arizona red cross is deploying more than a dozen damage left behind from hurricane matthew as it moves up the southeast. two volunteers left in an emergency response car. they are driving supplies out to those hit by the hurricane. in all, 16 volunteers are headed to florida. the red cross set up 200 evacuation centers serving 2,000 people. one volunteer says she is glad she is able to help.

stand up in that. it seems like they are under a carport but the winds are lashing people and pounding the area. here you go, this is one of the big dangers when you get the power poles down. this is from mark posting it out of florida. this is something that is always a problem and difficult to fix, severe beach erosion from hurricane matthew. this is crescent beach, if of florida. for those reporters covering it, you have pieces of metal blowing around and that could hurt or kill somebody. i want to show you these. are you a nascar fan? you will recognize this place but you won't recognize the water on the track. didn't think it was possible, renee says, to see that much water at daytona. i don't think they will have a

they will have to drive out the daytona 500 racetrack. we will be streaming all night on fox 10 news. just head to fox10phoenix.com and you can find the link there. back here in the valley, rescue teams racing the clock to rescue a horse that was in the west valley. >> the horse is ok but pulling it to safety was not easy. we are live latest. i'm amazed they got the horse out. >> reporter: i have to tell you when i got here, my horse sank a little bit. the horse was on its side and the vets and techs were working to get it hydrated. this horse nearly 900 pounds was stuck in this canal.

the tube. a worried owner was standing by hoping he will make it. a harrowing scene linda hopes she never has to see again. her hero horse suffering. this is an image of the horse stuck in a canal behind a stable area. his back legs cramped in a tube. >> another neighbor came out and said we need to get this horse out of the canal. >> reporter: mark was the struggling and it became a huge neighborhood effort along with emergency responders. >> all of the neighbors grabbed their straps and backed the horse out of the tube. another neighbor came with his forklift and we rigged up the straps and lifted him out of the canal. >> reporter: it took several hours to free mister azteks worked to get him hydrated.

was not going to pull through without a serious injury. >> reporter: after rescue efforts, mister was standing. >> i'm thankful that all of my neighbors came to help. because i have score -- score yo sis he is trained to stand quiet. >> reporter: incredible ending here. back here live, that back in his pen going to start interacting with his buddies but has recovering to do. luckily, he only suffered a couple of scrapes and bruises on his legs there. a happy ending that the entire neighborhood was satisfied with. happening now, the arizona state fair is under way and here

a chandler man makes a a chandler man makes a disturbing discovery in a kid's bathroom. it was a recording device. the camera had been there for years and after investigating for four months, chandler police were able to track down the man who placed the hidden camera there in the first place. andrewandrew hasbun with more oe case. >> reporter: we spoke to the man who found the camera.

disturbed but also relieved. chandler police say the camera was put in the home by a previous tenant who was trying to spy on his wife. when he moved out, he left the camera there. the camera was found in the air vent in the bathroom used by the two kids. >> i knew it was an electronic device. >> reporter: he did not want to be identified but he idea it was set up to record the bathroom. >> my daughters use that restroom it. was creepy. yeah, i was really upset. i got in the attic and sure enough there was a d.v.r. box laying on the insulation as you enter the attic. >> reporter: chandler p.d. found more than 1,000 videos.

toilet, showering, washing hands. clearly, there was an expectancy of privacy. they tracked it to the previous tenant. the people captured on the video was his own family members. he admitted to setting up the recording device to check his wife cheating on him. >> it is a relief that none of my family members were on it. reporter: he kept quiet he was in court. he said setting up the camera was a mistake and never found any evidence of infidelity. the suspect was booked for unlawful recording, which is a class five felony. >> reporter: well, of course, the hurricane continues in the southeast and the hurricane continues everywhere else.

snow in the area. heavy storms and eastern portions of oklahoma today. a little bit of flooding there. you can kind of see the moisture floating out of that area. then, of course, we have matthew down here a category two hurricane at this particular time. this is where the eye is right now down by jacksonville. we move it up to charlotte. heavy, heavy rain in charlotte. we go up to norfolk there is going to storms up there. there is new york in there so it is tending to go south of there and heading up to new brunswick and nova scotia at that point in time. that is since midnight, .74 in orlando and a little over .5 in charlotte. 1.5 in dallas over the last few hours as well so they have been having heavy rain. look at what it has done to the

71 in houston. 61 in charlotte. 45 up in bismarck. 62 in portland. 95 degrees here. no wind at this hour. a little haze through the city. 92 in surprise. 100 in mesa right now. we put the fox vision into focus for you so you can see this little bit moisture there is a chance of rain. you can see that coming in. a little tomorrow and through the day. we see that little bitty moisture make its trek northward. as we put the futurecast into motion, you saw the storm coming through. that is what we're seeing through all of this on the futurecast at this point in time. temperature high on the day today, we go to 97 degrees. 91 out at buckeye.

sheriff paul babeu was headmaster at desisto school in massachusetts. a boarding school rife with abuse. a lot of things went down that probably shouldn't have. this isn't about abuse or neglect, because none of this was found. except these records show the state found it, students and parents testified about it, and a judge ordered it to stop. the cornering, the sheeting, i didn't know how to live and function as a normal human being.

it seems every day now... doesn't it seem like every day we're dealing with another school district in the valley getting word of a creepy clown hoax that disrupts school for the day? one valley school district has had enough. nicole garcia joins us live with the story. i think everyone has had eno pretty much done with this. schools in the west valley are getting aggressive to put an end to the scary clown threat that is feeding to the hysteria and leading to lockdowns and arrests. they are also going to punish those who like and share them on social media. it's an image that strikes fear among students. it begins on social media and spreads like a virus that

campus that is what happened at west view high school in avondale this week. a creepy clown threat led to 20% of the student body staying home from school monday. an 18-year-old was arrested. >> a young man arrested for a threat on monday, he is looking for two felonies and a misdemeanor. he is looking at serious time in prison. >> reporter: alonzo vargas posted a students. he told police it was a joke but clowns are no laughing matter among students these days. >> any time there is mention of a clown, they start thinking something is going to happen. >> reporter: the tollesson union high school district sent a strongly worded letter home to parents saying this needs to stop now. >> it keeps happening and it is frustrating for the police and frustrating for us as a school
