fox 10 news at noon starts now. thank you for being here. as the hours go by, the search for a missing eight-year-old gi last seen by her family saturday morning near 35th avenue and glen rose. >> well, that's where danielle miller is live this afternoon wih more details on this. danielle, what can you share with us at this hour? >> reporter: guys, this scene just happened hear about 30 minutes ago. i'm going to step out of the way so you can see, this caution tape just put up in the strip mall parking lot. crews are going through a dumpster in this strip mall here

they are pulling out every single item that's in that dumpster. there's also a crew on scene here taking photographs of everything that they are pulling out. they have their protective gear on. not sure exactly why at this time the investigators are looking into this dumpster, not sure what led them to this dumpster, but in relation to this incident, this is right behind the apartment where the girl was in, where she was last scene, seen at this apartment on saturday at 9:30 in the morning, some neighbors saying she was last seen at 1:30 in the morning. officers were notified that she was missing on sunday around 5:40 p.m. neighbors tell us this is not confirmed by police but this is just from some of the people that we have been speaking to out here, that the mother of the girl had been out

mother's boyfriend that is looking after this girl. >> yes, i have seen her. she plays in here with all of the other kids. they run around all day. but, i don't know, she has been gone now. >> and we are back out here live where police investigators are still looking into this dumpster which is right behind the apartment complex where this girl lived, where she went missing from. still on scene here trying to figure out the details as to in the first place, why exactly they are searching this dumpster in the strip mall parking lot. we are working on details here. this little girl is described as about four feet tall, 65 pounds, long hair that's in braids. if anybody has any information on her whereabouts, you are asked to call police. reporting live, danielle miller, fox 10 news. listen to this other story here, a happy update to a second

coyle has been found and is safe and found. she walked away from her home near 40th and broadway yesterday morning in mesa around 10:00 in the morning. her family reported her missing it was around 7:30 last night. mesa police reporting that jade showed up around 10:30 this morning. they are working on figuring out where she has been this entire time. several hikers returned from a hike on piestewa peak their cars broken in. >> marcy jones joins us live with the story. >> reporter: it was a nasty surprise. as you guys are well aware, not a lot of people are crazy about mondays to begin with. i'm not one of them. i think we should make mondays great again, but this was a really nasty surprise. you come back and see that your windows are smashed out and some stuff is stolen. it's a real bummer.

coming out at this time of year because it's so beautiful, at least four windows were shattered and a fifth car was keyed in the parking lot this morning, they think it's about 500. police are looking for suspects. here's the good thing about it. they are saying that not a lot of valuables were stolen, mainly car manuals and some paperwork, which is pretty interesting. but obviously, even though nobody should be breaking into your car, hide valuables if you are taking them with you. ladies, tuck your purses underneath your car or plan out ahead. if you are bringing out water and already putting on nice shoes or something like that, just leave your purse at home and go back and get it later. coming up at 5:00 and 6:00, we'll be talking to hikers. for now, back to you. a new development in a deadly crash in phoenix, a second person has died and a third might not make it. all three victims were 20-year-old men and police believe they may have been

near central and butler. the crash happened just after 4:00 this morning. a witness described seeing the two cars racing southbound central avenue when both drivers lost control. two of the men inside one car flew out when it hit a tree. that is when it caught fire, the car did. both men inside the car died. a man had to be rescued using the jaws of life. speed does appear to be a factor in this crash. a valley normal after a big crash there, westbound loop 202 at the i-10 back open at about 10:30 this morning. a d.p.s. trooper responding to a rollover crash got hit by a car himself. the trooper inside fortunately was not heart. the two involved in the crash, we don't know their condition at this time, taken to the hospital

a deadly trooper involved shooting, d.p.s. telling us it started when a trooper tried to pull over a car for a traffic violation at 10:30 last night. the driver wouldn't stop. there was a chase, moved all the way up to the north valley, and then the driver smashed into several patrol cars and got out with a gun. that's when a trooper opened fire and that driver was killed. a fox follow-up on a bad crash near downtown phoenix, police telling us monica henley has died from injuries. she apparently walked into the street near roosevelt late last night and was hit by an oncoming car. she was troushd a hospital where she died. the driver stayed on the scene. neither speed nor impairment appears to be a factor. phoenix police tell us 34-year-old brandon branch has died. branch got into an argument with his ex-wife and her friend yesterday morning near 35th and

it escalated. that is when branch and the ex-wife's friend pulled out guns. they shot at each other and branch died. phoenix police caught up to the ex-wife and her friend. they are cooperating. a traffic alert to bring you in the a east valley, queen creek tunnel will be closed tonight and every night this week, 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and this will be the first tunnel in the state to get the energy saving lights. they have some lights up but they are also painting it as well. >> that's a lot of work on the queen creek tunnel. >> they have got a lot going on in the east valley. >> good. they are trying to get an upgrade going. did you watch this? a lot of people did, the second presidential debate. >> plus the arizona candidates try their hand at a debate. will there be fireworks between

hurricane matthew has moved out to sea, but a lot of damage left behind. this is new video just in a beach erosion in st. augustine florida. the hurricane actually changed part of the florida coastline because it was so powerful, carving a new inland between st. augustine and the palm coast. let's take you to north carolina now, these images, a rescue a levy broke overnight in fayetteville, trapping more than 1,500 people in their homes. crews are in the process of rescuing many, many of them from their rooftops. a river driven to record high levels, it might take several days for that flood water to start receding. when you get back and you're rescued, and you're thinking, oh, that's great, i'm alive.

temperatures, a pretty nice noontime look at show low, 70 degrees there, 77 in prescott, 90 at bullhead city, and we have got 70 you up at the south rim of the grand canyon k and the valley numbers look pretty good too, 90 degrees out wickenburg way as well. detroit, 60 degrees, beautiful afternoon there. 59 in bismarck. mid-60s in albuquerque, and 58 in boston, but, boy the weather is finally turning the corner of course, they are glad to see matthew leave. we have got some thunderstorms here in the middle of the nation. it won't be long before matthew is a bitter memory for the rest of the east. we see the rest of the showers moving through the canadian maritimes. these are the rainfall total in the last 48 hours. they really were something, the numbers were big all across the fayetteville area, about six and

11 inches near wilmington. it's been just unbelievable. this is the last two days. as you get out into the ocean just off the coast, more than a foot of rain falling just east of the delmar peninsula there, not -- only about an inch there toward philadelphia in the last two-day, but, boy, there is going to be, as troy plenty of cleanup ahead. your world, nice and quiet today, 81 for sedona, mid-60s in flagstaff, tonight, clear skies, pleasant temps. when will the cooldown come? next week, we'll top out somewhere in the upper 80s, and safe the mid-80s perhaps for middle of next week. and finally october may settle down and act like october.

absolutely delicious. but in ann arbor michigan, they said, here's the deal customers. you get a percentage point off your bill for every point that michigan wins by versus rutgers. and you're saying, oh, okay, what's that going to be? 15, 20 points, that would be like 20 percent off your meal. no, they won 78-0. which means that they are going to have to give 78% though. luckily for the restaurant, the discount capped out at 50%. and by monday morning, the restaurant was totally booked until the offer expires. this year hasn't been all bad for ryan lochte, proposed to his girlfriend kayla ray reed, currently competing on dancing

sheriff paul babeu was headmaster at desisto school in massachusetts. a boarding school rife with abuse. a lot of things went down that probably shouldn't have. this isn't about abuse or neglect, because none of this was found. except these records show the state found it, students and parents testified about it, and a judge ordered it to stop. the cornering, the sheeting, i didn't know how to live and function as a normal human being.
