fox 10 news at noon starts now. a woman is killed in a horrible apartment fire that broke out early today. >> well, several people will need a new place to stay after flames damaged several units, took the life of a woman living at the complex. anita roman has more from the scene of this first alarm fire. >> phoenix fire confirmed that the 50-year-old woman died at the hospital this morning. firefighters were able to pull her out of this apartment. take a look inside. we are now in the back of the unit. you can see the damage inside, really devastating, that fire ripped through that apartment taking everything with it. this was a first alarm fire. so crews arrived just around 2:00 this morning, and they went in to that apartment in search of any occupants, and that is

they were able to get her out. she was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, and in the meantime other crews managed to get a hold of that fire which was heavily engulfed in flames and smoke, and they were able to keep that fire from spreading. however, there was some damage to some of the neighboring units. three other units have a little bit of smoke damage, a little water damage, and so that means a number of people have been distime and placed because of the fire. we spoke to a couple of neighbors out here about the evacuation, as firefighters were trying to battle this blaze. take a listen. >> it was pretty bad. it was black, in the back back, in the back you could see it. it was coming outside the acadia door. it was coming out and it was going up to the apartments upstairs. >> when i saw one of the firefighters wanting to come in, i told them, hey, it's my house, my son is in there, and they told me get your son out now and i grabbed my son and i took him out. >> a very scary situation, no doubt.

50-year-old woman died in this apartment fire. again, back out here live, you cn just see how bad things were. the balcony of the unit above her is just charred, black from all of the smoke, and so we just chatted with the gentleman above there, and he is actually finding another place to stay thanks to red cross because there is so much smoke damage inside of his apartment. we talked to firefighters. at this point they do not believe that the death is suspicious. however, this is an ongoing investigation. and they are also loo the cause of the fire. back to you. >> anita, thank you. also overnight flames breaking out at a fertilizer plant near 32nd and washington. this is just north of sky harbor airport. this video sent to us by phoenix fire, the entire place was filled with smoke. you see plenty of it in that video there. workers say that it was two bags of fertilizer that caught fire. most of the damage caused by water. firefighters worked to put out some of the smoke and flames.

find considered persons of interest from a killing over the summer. ernie solano was murdered on july 30th. you might remember this story. he was leaving a convenience story, right here, deli and smoke shop at 34th and camelback. police say the 50-year-old man bought something at the store. when he step outside, he was shot and killed. police think these guys might know who the gunman is. if you recognize them and you think you could help, please call silent witness at 480-witness. developing story this noon, phoenix police investigating how a woman ended up in critical condition while she was being transported in a police van. so the woman apparently tried to commit suicide. she was arrested on criminal damage, domestic violence and aggravated assault charges. police say she was the only detainee in the van during the transport when they arrived at the station.

unconscious. she had a shoelace attached to the vent above her with the other end tied around her neck. she was cut free and officers began cpr before she was taken to the hospital. she is expected to be okay. in gilbert, a teen reportedly hit by a car near ranch house parkway and jermaine. the teen was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but has reportedly stabilized. officers don't think impairment played a le arraignment is rescheduled for the man accused of sexually assaulting a woman he found passed out in the street and this is in oldtown scottsdale. so surveillance cameras captured 28-year-old rodolfo ramirez picking up the unconscious woman, pulling her over his shoulder, and then taking her into a scottsdale parking garage where he allegedly raped her. the victim told police he sexually assaulted her two more times at his home.

ramirez's next hearing is rescheduled for friday october 21st. he is charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, and sexual abusement he is currently being held without bond. a former phoenix firefighter accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in glendale pleads not guilty to the crime. police say jeffrey wilson raped the victim at gunpoint under a bridge near 91st avenue and bethany home road. the 52-year-old is charged with sexual assault and kidnapping. . a landmark restaurant and saloon that burned in cave creek is opening back up a bad fire destroyed much of the saloon on thanksgiving day of last year. but now nearly a year later, the buffalo chip has been rebuilt. the brand-new structure is connected to parts of the building that survived the fire. people even donated historic items to place on the business's new wall of relics to place a similar connection that was lost. staff members back on the job getting ready for the big reopening. that's storm night at 6:00.

controversial facility, dolphinaris near arizona is opening tomorrow near scottsdale. skyfox giving us a new look at the place where people can swim with dolphins. the dolphin pools hold 1 million gallons of purified sea water. the city says the dolphins were born in human care and get excellent treatment. animal activists say the dolphins don't belong in the desert and should be free to swim in open water instead. you may want to avoid the 101 freeway the i-10 come monday afternoon. that's because the cardinals are playing their first monday night game of the year against the new york jets at university of phoenix stadium. you can see it off to the right. you'll want to -- traffic and game day traffic. ths also a time change that you'll want to know about. kickoff is now scheduled for 5:15 instead of 5:30.

phoenix you're watching the best. fox 10 news. phoenix police trying to find two suspects accused of assaulting a woman and stealing her purse at a fryes. take a look at the surveillance video, see if you recognize them. police say a 31-year-old lady was unloading groceries at the fryes at 48 street and bell road her purse stolen. a man driving an suv also over and punched her. she tried to holding on to the purse as the suv driver drove away but she fell to the ground. the suspect is described as a black man and a white woman both in their thirties. please call silent witness if you know who they are. you decide, a new fox news poll this morning shows that the past week has taken a toll on

trump is now down by seven points according to a fox news poll, this a week ago compared to him being only down two points. specifically, this poll was conducted this week, so it takes into account the controversial remarks he made about women last week as well as sunday's debate. at least seven women have now made allegations that he committed sexual assault. trump said that the allegations are lies and today "the washington post" is reporting a new claiming that he assault trump claims that the stories are part of a coordinated attack. and then there is this, wikileaks releasing more hacked e-mail from hillary clinton's campaign. these reportedly involve the drafts of a video of her explaining her private e-mail system. it says during her time as secretary of state, the u.s. would, quote, "ring china with missile defense if the chinese government failed to curb north korea's nuclear program."

they are having to deal with all of the damage now, downed power lines and trees. more than 25,000 customers lost power. cleanup is expected to continue today and schools will remain closed until monday. forecasters are expecting typhoon songda to hit the northwest tonight and again tomorrow. according to the weather service, it could be one of five worst ever recorded in the region, there's the oregon coast and folks in portland have been seeing rain gusts, and they are fearful that wind gusts tonight and into tomorrow could hit a hundred miles an hour. we are told already 15,000 people are without power. well, good afternoon, everyone. let's take a look at our weather here at this hour, and we are going to show you some of those winds kind of whipping through the northwest region of the country. 89 degrees outside right now. winds are calm, and we are ready

we? take a look at this. 1 100 was our record back in 2015. 89 is our normal, about where we will stay today. for us here this our state, take a look at our satellite and radar, you can see a lot of our skies are very pleasant here throughout our state. some of the clouds up in the north part of the state, the high country, will pick up winds as well, which is expected during the fall season here. let's take a look at some of our temperatures across the state, 69 in page, st. john's 78 degrees. 78 also in winslow off the i-40 up there. so you folks heading in and out of arizona, 66 in flagstaff, 81 in sedona, 77 in beautiful payson, and 72 in show low up in the white mountains. along the colorado river, you're looking at 90s for the most part. yuma, you're at 89 degrees at this hour. for us take a look at this, 89 here in phoenix, and across the valley pretty nice temperatures, 89 in maricopa, 88 in buckeye,

you see those planes come in and land at deer valley airport. it's got a pretty good restaurant up there as well. temperatures around the country, east coast you're looking okay as a lot of those folks in north carolina really start to clean up and continue to wait for that water to kind of usher back out. but take a look at some of the storms up montana way, they are really starting to deal with some of the storms, eastern idaho as well. up through minneapolis, they have a storm brewing, a lot of parts of the midwest really starting to feel some of that snw coming take a look here at the northwest part of the country here. this is where they're expecting. look at this storm here brewing off there into the pacific, off the coast of portland. you can sao ethat storm brewing and then up through the seattle area they are starting to receive a lot of that rain as well. we saw some of those storms brewing yesterday. and also, take a look at our forecasted highs today, 70 in flagstaff, 79 in payson, mostly nice, take a look at window rock, you're at 39 tonight, prescott you're at 48 degrees

a system meltdown causing the third-largest fox 10 news is back. a system melt down causing the third largest airline to push flights back today, united airlines has some computer glitches, 60 flights or more were delayed. passengers around the world expressed frustration about the long wait and went on social media to vent. united reported that the problem
