suicide suspects. >> we are trying to see if there is something we can learn or something we can do differently. >> it is very sad when someone gets to that point. it is upsetting. >> reporter: now the woman remains in grave condition at the hospital. family members don't believe she will survive her injuries. the woman's family tells me they feel officers should have never left her alone and they are looking into possible legal action. reporting garcia, fox 10 news. police at the scene of a standoff. police tell us this was a case of a domestic violence call and the man did not want to come out. after talking with police on the phone, he finally surrendered. no word if charges will be filed. the arizona registrar of contractors suspendses the licenses of a contracting business after the partial collapse of a church in queen

workers that got hurt in the church when part of the building collapsed two weeks ago. the registrar's contracting says it is one of eight violations that caused it to be removed. a deadly apartment fire underinvestigation that killed one person andself -- several people were looking for a place to >> reporter: firefighters performed c.p.r. on a woman they rescued from a burning apartment this morning. the 50-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the hospital hours later. >> the whole complex was smoky. it was covered in smoke. >> reporter: when crews arrived at the complex just before 2:00 a.m., the first floor unit was fully engulfed in flames and smoke. >> it was pretty bad.

you could see it. it was coming outside of the door and it was going up. reporter: the thick smoke filled the early morning sky. crews continued to work to keep the blaze from spreading. two other units above the victim's apartment has smoke and water damage. those residents were evacuated. >> i was scared for everyone who lives here. >> one of the firefighters wanted to come in and i told them son is in there. they said get your son out now. >> reporter: red cross was called out to help those without a place to stay. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. >> the fire does not appear to be suspicious but an investigation into the cause is underway. police are searching for two men who may have information about a deadly shooting in phoenix.

an hour, possibly more tornadoes. two tornadoes in oregon today. two is the average for the entire year for the entire state of oregon. both tornadoes were in the same county. we're looking at 12 inches of rain, if not more. the possibility of small hail. reports of hail up to .5 of an inch. a storm surge is significant with this. we're looking at w 30 feet. we'll look at the timing of the system later on in the show. florida officials are warning residents to stay away from the beach after hurricane matthew passed through the state. residents being warned about large piles of debris across the shore and debris in the water. trees and construction material have been found on the beach. the double red flag at the beach is being felon to being signified that the beaches are

talkers died this morning. sergeant major dan ake died in tube city on the cold cold canyon. sergeant major served as a u.s. marine on four pacific islands, including iwo jima. he couldn't pass a physical. two years later, he volunteered again passed the physical and became a talker team attached to the fourth marine division. code talkers used a world war ii code based on their native language to stump the japanese. he was 96 years old. the code was never broken. metro center is not being demolished the word from the owner after rumors surfaced that it was being torn down.

is a dry and warm one. this cold front that is bringing a lot of activity to the pacific northwest is going to skirt arizona, help to cool us but it is not going to affect our forecast here. in term of temps right now, we're looking great at lake havasu at 95. 77 in prescott. nogales, 10 degrees warmer than that. 82 for winslow. the valley, still on the warm side in many ahwatukee, still in the upper 90's at this hour. cooler in deer valley at 91. 91 for fountain hills. buckeye, 93 degrees. today, we're above the seasonal norm. 96 for our afternoon high. normal temp for today, we're in the 80's continuing with the downward trend as we cool off in the fall.

digit weather in the forecast. i want to show you all of the rain and hail and gusty weubldzs that we have seen with this system. these are reports of storm damage and storm activity that you see on this screen. i want to show you reports of .5 of an inch sized hail on the smaller end. we saw the pictures of the waterspout, the tornado moving inland but we're seeing gusty winds to report earlier this morning of 84 miles an hour winds. obviously, significant event. we'll be tracking that throughout the weekend. temperatures in arizona will be pleasant. we'll see cooling in places like prescott where we're down there the upper 40's. 40 for the grand canyon. upper 40's for show low. globe, 56. 48 degrees for douglas. tomorrow, we're looking at numbers in the 70's for many locations. window rock, 77 degrees. st. johns, 83.

94 in bullhead city. mid 90's in yuma and gila bend. we're continuing to see the warm weather pattern but tonight should be nice out there cooling down into the mid 60's. the numbers running above average for the next several days. you'll notice as the cold front pushes through northern arizona, we will see cooling dropping down to 93, potentially 90. great temperatures and we'll see 90's until the end of next >> ok, one more week and that's it. >> holding you to this. >> we put our foot down. if you have a road trip planned this weekend, the prices at the pump are going back up. aaa arizona showing the statewide average for unheaded regular gas is $2.17 a gallon up 4 cents since last week. national average is $2.27 and that is up a penny. >> i felled up last night.

since 1975, the special olympics organization has given athletes a chance to compete here in arizona. >> that tradition continues in mesa. liz kotalik was there for the fall games. >> reporter: it is day one of such a fun weekend. the special olympics fall games is here at skyline high school. more than 1,000 athletes competing in a ton of different games. we're talking about aquatics, bocce and softball. we're watching the competition. they are paired with a partner who help practice and compete with them. it is called unified sports to promote inclusion. peoria police officer doug steele is paired with his partner and they just won the gold. >> we meet twice a week and practice in a local park. wyatt and i have been practicing two months, almost three months.
