live from fox studios, fox10 news is back. >> thanks for joining us for fox10 news at 5:00. okay. you just watched the end of two games on the nfl on fox10. let's continue our sports coverage with jude lacava. he's looking at game involving our cardinals. it was kind of weird not seeing them on a sunday. >> that's for sure. it's interest when you think about another national appearance for the arizona cardinals. they take on the jets tomorrow night. they have a aggressive todd bowls directed new york jets defense. he was the defensive coordinator. it's another opportunity to take another step forward.
5:03 pm
new england. the play maker, the guy that can create turnovers and come up with the big play. it's progressively gotten better from the new england game, game one to the most recent win over the 49ers. certainly understands when the bright lights are on, monday night football against the jets, that's when you want to step up and deliver. >> well i feel around today better than in the previous weeks. but i'm really looking forward to monday night, just to see how my body feels with those extra couple days of rest. it will be fun. it will be fun. >> we welcome nfl analyst max, who better to talk to about the dramatic changes along the offensive line. john wetsal will start at left guard, and earl at right guard.
5:04 pm
>> having that quarterback back from concussion protocol, worrying how that offense is going to guy who's trying to sprint on the run. he goes through the progression of stepping up in the pocket and climbing the pocket so to speak. so that's going to be a concern for them from a past liability standpoint, just because you have two experienced guys on the defensive s the leading sack guy for the jets. so it presents a lot of challenges for this offense. >> if you look at it, todd bowles is notorious, loves to send action through that center guard hole. and there's your inexperience. >> that is the key point. the meat of this offensive line where they're going to want to attack. just like you think of when todd was the defensive coordinator
5:05 pm
blitzin through the a-gap. james better still uses the same philosophy he saw from todd bolt. so it's going to be aj shiply being strong and sout up the mi. playing left guard is not his natural position. he'll need a lot of help. and earl hasn't been playing as consistently as we expect him to. so dj and earl have to work better together to make sure they're squeezing down inside the a and b gap to make sure any pressure up the middle is because that's right in his face. so you don't want to get him nervous or stuttering in the pocket. because you want to be able to take advantage of this jet's secondary, which is one of the worst in the league. especially giving up the big plays. >> with the obvious game plan, let's run with david johnson.
5:06 pm
at least it gives us a chance to get some momentum. >> run game is going to be paramount if the cardinals want to win the game monday night. you must run the ball. you must are -- run with david johnson and you must run often. that's going to be the biggest thing, how fast can we establish the interior run game so we can kind of squeeze the defense in and then hit the exterior where david johnson thrives. hi >> something to watch as we look ahead to the monday night battle between the cardinals and the jets. >> thanks. we look forward to it. now let's start with the news. a developing story here. you probably heard about this massive fire that tore through a gilbert apartment complex overnight. that complex was under construction. now the blaze got so bad that nearby businesses and homes had but today, people are back in

weekend... the buffalo chip restaurant reopened with the help from the community. >> with the help of the community. people donated historic items for a wall of relics. those are the things lost in the fire. this new building is connected to parts of the building that were not destroyed in the fire. people visiting the place say they're excited to see it open again. >> y it's going to be amazing. i think the new building is amazing. larry is going to do great things for the community. >> the restaurant caught fire and burned to the ground on thanksgiving day last year. today people gathered at the newly dedicated arizona fallen firefighters memorial. to honor those who had died on the job. fox10's courtney griffin was there. she has more.

life sized bronze statues, each waying 5-800 pounds. it officially opened up last year. >> fire doesn't care who you are. it'll kill you. when it decides it's going to do that. and these men and women risk their lives every day for you and your families. and that's why this memorial is here. >> it's a quiet place to honor the sacrifice of those in while others are running out. courtney griffin, fox10 news. if you want to check out the memorial, it's located just off 17th avenue and washington. if you would like to donate to the effort, you can head to our facebook page or rather, actually our website. which is fox10phoenix.com. we have a link provided for you there. another day in the 90's.

still under 90 degrees. this big area of high pressure. it has been our every day companion for quite a while. what it has done, and maybe in an unfortunate way is kept all of this weather to the north of us at bay. it would be great to see some of these showers sweep in. it looks like they should. this high is intense, so this stormy weather we've been seeing from washington to central california, looks like it is going to bump up and over what we're seeing now. so no real hope for any change over the next few days. we have a lot more sunshine in store. 73 in prescott. the same in sedona. and here across the valley, we're doing all right. 88 in old town scottsdale. 19 in glendale.
