now. good evening, everybody. thanks for joining us tonight. first on fox, a bizarre burglary at a historic saloon in yavapai county. >> yeah. a man is caught on camera inside that business vandalizing the place before stealing several items. this happened at the crown king saloon up in crown king. it's a tiny community about two hours north of downtown phoenix. it sits in a remote area just west of the i-17. the suspected burglar spent a lot of time inside that saloon, and that's what he was doing durg have you scratching your head. andrew hasbun has been looking into this. he joins us live with the story tonight >> reporter: and john, bizarre is the perfect word to tried de this incident. the surveillance video shows the suspect pouring himself a soda. one camera even captures his expression right as he discovers the whole thing is being captured on video. >> to have somebody come in and

kind of destruction is very frustrating. >> reporter: this is a view from the outside at around 3:00 this morning. the camera capturing the moment the suspect kicks in the door to the saloon. the owner say he spent about two and a half hours inside the building. at one point, he even put a beer bucket on his head. eventually he discovered with where they kept some of the money and took it. he also kicked in the doors to some of the rooms upstairs. >> and those doors are at least it's a historic building. so to try to replace that hardware and maintain the look and character of the building is going to be difficult. >> according to the yavapai county sheriff's office the suspect is 34-year-old sean sparling of phoenix. he's also accused of going into two cabins at a neighboring business and demanding phones from the people

the victims. the owners of the saloon have been worried recently. >> i was warned about the bartender that they were concerned about his behavior, so we were kind of trying to keep an eye out. >> the yavapai county sheriff's office responded quickly and they found the suspect on somebody else's property trying to get away in a backhoe. he has been arrested and booked into jail. the stolen property, which includes money and some other items was all recovered. i'm andrew hasbun, fox 10 news. a family mourning the deaths of two little girls killed by their own father in a murder suicide over the weekend. neighbors say the two girls were full of life, and the family was having parties at that house all the time. >> they were always a good family. parties, birthday parties, there were all always people there. he would do the lights for

no children, to nobody really. >> so far, police have not released a motive in these shootings, but neighbors tell us that the parents had recently split up. in the meantime, a page has been set up to help raise money for the girls' funeral expenses, and we have posted a link on our page, fox10phoenix.com. in tuscon, a two-year-old boy gets his hands on a gun and accidentally shoots his mom right in the arm. the pima county sheriff's offic up and was unattended. the mother was shot while trying to grab the gun from the boy but she is expected to be al right. the 2016 presidential race habiter, hard to find much middle ground these days. three weeks left until the general election, tensions are high. >> a building had to be

"the arizona republic" has received a number of threats over endorsement of hillary clinton. >> reporter: yeah, john and marc, a pretty terrifying day here for employees and volunteers. tensions have been running extremely high during this entire presidential race. now we have seen these tensions erupting nationally and even right here in the valley. this bomb threat here today just a perfect example of that. >> they are trying to have a chilling effect on the work that we do because of an opinion that we expressed, and to me that is very dangerous. >> reporter: arizona republic media president mia parish responding to several threats made against the paper after endorsing hillary clinton rather than donald trump. this was the first time in the paper's 126-year history not to endorse the republican candidate. parish recently wrote an editorial piece detailing the paper's decision in response to the backlash. >> we felt strongly that we had

are consequences to that. >> reporter: parish says some have called threatening the building and death threats have been made to the employees. >> having a free and open press and having a civil dialogue and discussion and having an environment where we can disagree, and we don't always have to hug and kiss at the end of it, but we don't have to throw punches, either. >> reporter: other threats made around the valley, around 3:15 this afternoon, there was a bomb threat at the arizona party headquarters near 24th street and osborn. chairman robert graham says the threat was made on a voice mail messagement. >> people just said there is a bomb in your building and it's going to go off. you need to get out. >> reporter: about 30-40 people had to be evacuated. luckily, no one was hurt and phoenix police gave the all clear. >> we feel like it's voter intimation, and we feel like we just want to exercise our first amendment rights and people will do anything to disrupt the whole

be diverted through other locations throughout the valley to continue their work today, and graham tells us that their call volume was probably cut in half because of this bomb threat, but he's telling us that this is only motivation to push harder and further tomorrow to make up for this lost ground. reporting live, danielle miller, fox 10 news. thanks, danielle. that threat made to the arizona republican party headquarters comes on the heels of an act of political terrorism in north carolina. a regional g.o.p. office about 40 miles outside of raleigh was thankfully, nobody hurt. north carolina's governor is vowing to hunt down the person responsible. the democrats are turning their attention to arizona. some big names in the party are visiting the state this week. tomorrow bernie sanders will be stumping for hillary clinton in both flagstaff and tuscon, and on wednesday which he will slee clinton will be speaking at a.s.u. on behalf of her mom. on thursday, michelle obama will

the details on her visit are still to come. donald trump and hillary clinton are preparing for their thinly third and final debate, the stage set at the campus of unlv. chris wallace will serve as the moderator. the debate begins at 6:00 p.m. arizona time. it will last 90 minutes. steve krafft and i will be heading to las vegas tomorrow. you can look reports coming up on fox 10 throughout the day tomorrow and on wednesday and on thursday. we'll be streaming live as well the debate on fox news now. well, we have quite an interesting week of weather on the way, we'll have a heat wave that will sleep most of the country, but by the weekend it's going to start feeling like fall, finally. >> excellent. dave munsey joins us now with a look. finally, finally. >> well, we are going to see some changes in a lot of parts of the country. we are going to stay somewhat

days, but we do see a break in our weather as well. however, you can see, look at this, 91 degrees in wichita, 91 degrees in st. louis, 87 in memphis, 83 in atlanta. look at all of these 80s, we get a 75 up in boston, but that's it. we see some nice 50s, 60s, and 70s behind all of this. but this is the way that things are looking now. look at that 90 there in el paso as that's a big change, now into the 70s, a few 80s where 90s were. look up here as that cooler weather continues to encroach. and as it does throughout the week here, things are going to change. these temperatures will be coming down by about ten degrees in a lot of these areas. as far as arizona, we are going to be warm for a couple of days, but we do see change. and i'll have that for you coming up. >> all right, dave, looking forward to that.

think about the play-offs. they are back to 500 football and doing it differently, the run game of david johnson, very aggressive play, held the jets to just three points. his former defensive coordinator, todd bowles, now head coach of the jets, and then follow the guard, number 78 earl watford. we'll take you to the play, look at david johnson go, and look at number 78, threw three blocks the play, touchdown 7-0 arizona, and david johnson, watch it again, just fabulous. look at 78 leading the way. he started at right guard, pulled and finished, and d.j. says i'll take it. johnson was spectacular. ryan fitzpatrick who played his high school ball here in the valley, one of the few offensive plays that worked to brandon marshall, but they were limited running the ball and limited passing the ball.

some turnovers, really impressive game defensively, run game for david johnson, carries for 122 yards, teacher-pupil hug at the end of the game, cardinals win 28-3. here's bruce arians. >> i'm very pleased with how this game went. i thought all three phases played smart and extremely fast. one little lapse with were big. i thought this is a heck of a defense to try and run the football with. i thought we accomplished it. obviously the three guys in the middle had to play really good. i'm proud of the middle guards. he always thinks he has the ball when he tries to score, but did a little bit better with the

we blindfolded dale and told him to find the chicken with no antibiotics. the thing is, by federal law, all chickens must be clear of antibiotics y leave the farm. how's it going, dale? workin' on it! some chicken companies try to get you to spend more money by using labels like "raised without antibiotics." at sanderson farms, we don't believe in gimmicks like that. well, how'd i do? no antibiotics to worry about here. hmmm...that was easy. it wasn't much... but it fresh, delicious chicken from sanderson farms.

was enough to cause some chaos. the first measurable amount of rain falling in los angeles in 16 five days. according to the national weather service people were caught off guard there. there were a lot of wrecks, traffic snarled even more than usual, schools started late, but people are happy to finally see rain out there. what we had is we had little batch of moisture down to the south of us and we actually kind of thought that that low pressure system bringing it up might bring it into arizona. but it kind of missed the mark just a little bit and it carried it over into san diego and into los angeles. you can kind of see, there you go, a little rain kicking up over in the san diego area and just some spotty stuff, and once o

them. we have 77 at deer valley, 77 right now in scottsdale. we have 82 in glendale, and 75 in ahwatukee right now. i just wanted to show you that low-pressure system, the cold front up north. it was pretty windy across the north today. those winds have died down. you can see not only moisture but we are kind of mixing up a little bit of snow in some of those areas as well, some of the high elevation areas, futurecast you are not going to see much around arizona, but you are going to see a little bit of snow and a little bit of active weather off to the north of us there. 91 degrees on the high today. we had 88 at goodyear, 87 at deer valley, and 88 at gateway. other numbers that we have, 77 in payson, 76 at prescott, 81 in sedona, 79 up at page, with 89 at gila bend. overnight, we'll drop out of the 70s. we'll get back into the 60s. look at that beautiful moon,

at that after the weather, please. 67 degrees somewhere in there is where we are going to end the night. we ended it at 66 last night, early this morning, 91 this afternoon. 88 and 64 your normal high and low, record low at 102, record low at 42. forecasting tomorrow the seasonal norm 88 degrees but you can see some of these other numbers are a little bigger as . we do get into some low 90s, 78 in flagstaff, 65 up at flagstaff, 91 in yuma on the forecast page. looking across the country, rain, wind, snow, and thunderstorms in the northwest. yeah, they have got it all. had some thunderstorms going into salt lake city, which turned to snow a little bit of snow outside of the city as the day wore on. thunderstorms and showers in the great lakes, and we are keeping our eye on this little windy thing right here. you can kind of see it trying to form into something, so we are

fox 10 news is back. a valley couple killed in a tragic accident in california. they were at a festival in san diego over the weekend when a pickup truck plunged off the coronado bridge above them and landed in the crowd, where they were standing. the driver of that truck, an active duty navy sailor, has been arrested.

charged with dui and vehicular manslaughter. four people, including that valley couple died. linda williams spoke with their family. >> cruz and anna marie contreras lived in chandler and had been married for more than 35 years. their family is reeling from the shock of their loss. their nephew says they were two beautiful souls. as grandparents, cruz and anna marie contreras loved their family, but they also loved the freedom they found on two wheels as they traveled the state of arizona and the country on their motorcycle. it was at a biker rally festival in san diego this weekend where a freak accident ended their lives. an out of control truck driven by a 25-year-old sailor careened off the coronado bridge and landed on booths at the biker rally at the park below. >> we heard a skid, a bang, and

he flipped or 23 times. he landed topside on the canopy tent. >> reporter: sunday night, the horrific accident scene at that park in san diego had been replacedwy this, a candlelight vigil and prayers. the contreras family found some peace and comfort in the love and support of each other and strangers. the a couple's nephew, jacob, has set up a gofundme page to raise money to bring his aunt and uncle's bodies back to the valley as well as to pay for funeral expenses. we have that website, fox10phoenix.com. i'm linda williams, fox 10 news. and we are learning more about a crash that killed two valley teenagers last friday pnight. it happened at 59th avenue and camelback road. the 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl were students at betty fairfax high school, p car survived the crash. administrators at betty fairfax say they have counselors on hand and a memorial has been put up at the school the driver of the

with is being investigated for possible impairment. we are one step closer to learning what may happen in the federal contempt of court case against sheriff joe arpaio. the case dates back to 2011 when sheriff arpaio was ordered to stop enforcing federal immigration law. a judge ruled that arpaio violated that order willfully, and today federal prosecutors filed a show of cause, claiming that the deputies continued to detain people that they believed were in the u.s. and they say that they have extensive evidence that proves the sheriff intentionally violated the judge's order. arpaio's attorneys are expected to file their response tomorrow. trial is still slated to start in december. in the meantime, the sheriff is taking action against the recent violence aimed at law enforcement officers all over

team up with volunteer posse members, who are also gearing up for annual patrols at malls ahead of a busy holiday shopping center. a rocket blasted off from virginia, taking supplies to the i.s.s. nasa is paying orbital a.t.k. as well as spacex to deliver the cargo to the station. spacex currently grounded because of a launch pad explosion last month. nevada is one having its own nfl stadium and team. the governor signing into law two bills that will clear the way for construction of a stadium in las vegas. the bills will funnel nearly $750 million in public funds to tat project and an extra 650 million will come from a private investor. another 500 million would come from the oakland raiders, but the team's nfl owners would have to approve the location first.

diabetes. his letter to the commissioner of the nfl says it all. >> my mission is to get the nfl to help raise awareness like you do for breast cancer awareness. >> honestly, i had nothing to do with it. i wanted to make sure that i stayed out of it, so i had my dad even take him to the post-office to mail it. so it was completely on his own. unfortunately, we haven't heard anything back, and i know the commissioner is obviously busy and things. >> reporter: all right. so rider hasn't heard back from the commissioner of the national football league. he's still getting plenty support, like his sister who is raising money with these wristbands for jdrf. max domi and patrick pederson have messages for rider. they deal with diabetes on a daily basis. >> i want to make sure you continue fighting.

fox 10 news is back. a tip from the public leads to the rescue of a family of dogs who were living in terrible conditions. we do want to warn you that some of the images that you are abo everyone. over the weekend, somebody called the arizona humane society to report several boxers, including five puppies were being neglected at a valley home. when they showed up, they found the animals in critical condition, many of them suffering from tick fever. officials say the owners left murky water outside but their dogs were not able to reach it, and their bowl of food was old and stale. >> there was a crack in the

it turns out, they are afraid a new family could hold them back at work. and when the kid grows up, it might be time for the talk about finances, that's because a high percentage of parents believe it is more important to talk about saving and spending and budgeting than it is to talk about the birds and the bees. which is great news for the future, because according to a separate report, more than a third of adults wish they were saving more for retirement, with just over half of millennials currently contributing to retirement fund. and pepsico making a new promise, announcing that by the year 2025, 2/3 of its beverages will have less than 100 calories from added sugars. target will be joining a list of businesses not selling clown masks or clown costumes
