and equal justice under the law. vote for diego rodriguez. a county attorney for us all. fox 10 news at noon starts now. well, good afternoon. a big crowd at the phoenix convention center waiting to hear first lady michelle obama speak. we are just a couple of hours away. >> she is the third high-profile democrat to arizona in as many day, trying to drum up support for hillary clinton as a lot of democrats feel that arizona is now in play for this election. andrew hasbun with more at the convention center now. >> reporter: yeah, troy, they are basing this off of some recent polls that show this race to be very close in arizona. they sent bernie sanders yesterday to flagstaff, and
12:01 pm
to appear at the phoenix convention center in a few years. we are still about two hours away from her arrival, and you can see this place is filling up fast. we are at the ground level of the phoenix conventon center, a huge space to host michelle obama. we can expect her to talk about last night's debate and a number of other issues. she has been called a very effective speaker on behalf of hillary clinton and a very strong critic of donald trump. this place is filled with people. we want to show you the line outside from skyfox this morning. it snaked around the building, people waiting for hours to get in here and be the first ones in line, and right now, two hours before she is set to take the stage, there are still people coming in now and they are fired up to see the first lady. >> they are excited. this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the first president, the first lady of the united states, my goodness, and then to be supporting hillary,
12:02 pm
going to win. >> trump is just too far off the deep end, as far as i can tell. >> how excited are you to see michelle obama? >> oh, a lot. i think she's the closer. . >> reporter: so one of the latest polls that came out showed a statistical dead heat between donald trump and hillary clinton, but that poll also showed that there were about 20% of arizona voters who were still undecided, so that could explain why there's so much pressure on arizona the clinton campaign. donald trump's campaign put out a statement saying hillary clinton is phoning it in with the arizona voters. in that statement, they said voters are tired of the same double speak from washington career politicians like hillary. this event starts at 2:00. reporting live, downtown phoenix, andrew hasbun.

12:04 pm
until he knows, you can lay out any hypothetical, but until he knows they are certified and verified, he's not going to completely concede an unknown. >> well, most people who were watching this, especially on the national scene, they seem to agree that both candidates did a pretty good job last night, but there was no real knockout punch that they think is swaying voters. >> if it's a wash, she wins, because he needed wash, so in that sense, even didn't do him any good. and i don't think he did that well. in the end, he was still on the attack. does he understand the purpose of that last minute? he was not well prepared for that. that is for certain. >> so how many people were watching this debate last night? the first debate watched by 84 million people, a record number. last week's debate had 66
12:05 pm
numbers indicate last night's debate as watched by more than the second debate but not by as many people as the first. another woman comes forward to accuse trump of inappropriate contact, virginia holding a conference with famed attorney gloria allread, saying trump groped her waiting outside a tennis tournament in queens new york. she's standing in solidarity with other accusers who he says are all lying. a woman sentenced in a big bribery case the former ceo of valley-based red flex, convicted of trying to influence lawmakers in ohio to give contracts to her company by handing out money and other favors.
12:06 pm
sentencing in a similar corruption case in chicago. a woman driving a minivan got on the freeway right off of dove valley road driving northbound in the southbound lanes. she went a short distance but fortunately just clipped a car. so they sideswiped each other. you can see the damage on the cars is on the side, not head on. they narrowly missed a tree after even those two vehicles nearly hit each other. >> they sideswiped, and i went through the center of them. that's all there was to it for mement. >> you went through the center? >> one went right, one went left after they hit. that was it. >> police are now testing the woman to see if she was impaired and go on that freeway because of that going the wrong way. firefighters save a little dog trapped in a burning house today, the fire breaking out early this morning at a home near 35th avenue and peoria.
12:07 pm
out okay with two dogs, but the third dog, carter, still inside. you can see carter is doing all right as of when we shot the video this morning. a phoenix firefighter went inside to rescue him. carter's owner says the firefighter saved his life. >> he wasn't breathing. when they brought him to the door, he wasn't breathing, so they put an oxygen mask on. >> a firefighter saved with a fido dog, an oxygen mask specifically made for pets. >> look at his face. >> yeah, he's happy. well, halloween just 11 days away and a new survey is out about our favorite halloween candy, and the product reviewer site influencer says the favorite candy here is toblerone. >> really? who gives those out?
12:08 pm
maybe her surveying the italian club of arizona. >> yeah, i don't know. >> in case you're not familiar with it, it's a milk chocolate bar including nougat i'm kind of a kit cat gal. >> yeah, not toblerone. nationwide, it is candy corn. who does this survey? >> >> what? >> yeah. >> wow, you're the only person i know that i think likes candy corn. reese's peanut butter cups, there you go. >> ask my dentist he knows. >> why does your dentist know that? >> because i have got cavities. remembe all of those riots in milwaukee this summer after a black man was shot and killed by

a fox 10 news alert here. this is in gila bend. live pictures from skyfox reports of a man trapped in a pipe. so this is information just coming into the newsroom, and let's take a closer look here as the photographer here on skyfox zooms in a little bit, and you see some of those first responders working very hard to free a man > now, this is what they call a confined space rescue, because basically now the person obviously who is stuck is stuck in a confined space. and looking back on this, this appears to be some sort of power plant because there are power lines right up next to it, and it's a large pipe. it looks to be two, two and a half feet in diameter there. i don't know if somebody is working on this. we just don't have a lot of information but it looks like they are looking up in there to trying to the pull man out of
12:13 pm
screen. >> it looks as though the men here to the left, the one in yellowish green shirt, could possibly be working on the property, giving firefighters more direction on what this man was doing, how he ended up there. >> we don't know what this pipe is, if it's an exhaust type pipe, if it's a pipe that feeds some sort of generating station for electricity because those big power lines are in between there. but i can tell you the confined space rescues are very difficult for firefighters, because they just don't have a lot of room to work in. a lot of times they get down in the areas, and the air is not good. none of them to be wearing anything like that. >> some of the equipment that they they have to use, they do
12:14 pm
train for these type of situations but the type of equipment they use, they depend heavily on, so it looks as though one of the gentlemen, one of the firefighters is kneeling down, and it looks as though we are getting a closer look as to what kind of equipment they are using in there. >> and i'm trying to figure out what is what did that is coming out of the bottom of the pipe there. it looks like a white almost a hazmat type suit that somebody was wearing, but again i don't see anything spilling out of pipe or any respiratory type gear to indicate bad air or a leaka leakage. we are streaming this on fox news now. if you go to our website, fox10phoenix.com, we'll keep the stream going for you, and we'll dip back into this throughout the rest of this show. again, this is in gila bend, south and west of the valley where we have a man trapped in what appears to be a large pipe right there. go ahead and go online if you want to continue to watch this unedited, and if you're watching

12:19 pm
how they stand temperature wise. we are doing all right. 57 in show low, lake havasu at 84, 85 in yuma, really the hottest spot is here at sky harbor. but, boy, look at the winds. we are gusting up to 40 miles an hour at bullhead city, 25 or so at lake havasu, and up in kingman as well. the grand canyon is pretty breezy today also. and then here in the valley, we are at about 10-15. but here in the southeastern corner of the state, very strong conditions down 20-30 miles an hour range. keep that in mind. if you're going to be in a high-profile vehicle, you might catch some pretty strong gusted to. around the rest of the country, 85 in atlanta this afternoon. cool air is trying to spill in from the west but it's not terribly chilly. almost everybody in the nation is seeing a very, very nice autumn afternoon. we have had some showers though today. they have continued to work their way east ward.
12:20 pm
temperatures from yesterday. so there is cooler air on the march. this shows you how much warmer or cooler things were today than yesterday at the same hour. 20 degrees cooler in memphis this afternoon than what they saw yesterday, theels things are starting to warm -- although things are starting to warm up a few degrees in the west, 20 degrees chillier in boston at our noon hour than they saw yesterday also, but this is the reason that we are seeing all of these showers and thunderstorms. they continue to march their way on eastward now down into southeast texas, so it's going to be a busy day for the east this evening. your world, however, will be nice and quiet here in the valley, numbers a bit above the average today, tomorrow, and is saturday, and that will be the story for the whole state. you can tack on another six or seven degrees to your average high temp no matter where you live, but again as troy has requested. >> i'm calling it. >> it's kind of a demand i think. >> no, no, no.
12:21 pm
strong statement. >> it was a strong statement. >> it's a suggestion, but i think we are done. >> next week is your week. >> we only need the nineties for an hour or two, and then you have the rest of the day. i was golfing at 4:30 yesterday, but it was pretty nice. when we get back out, we are going to go back out to the confined space rescue of a man

apparently got stuck. so the good news is we are hearing is he's not severely hurt or really hurt at all. he's just stuck in that pipe. he's somehow wedged himself in there. firefighters are doing a confined space rescue. >> what we do know at this hour is the power has been shut off at this transformer. that's why the man is going to be okay. also, it's buckeye valley fire department. that is one of the agencies that is out different agencies are all working together on this confined space rescue, which could take a number of hours. >> i'm wondering how deep that guy is in there, because that pipe probably doesn't end right there. it could go another 20, 30 feet back into that transformer. so again, if you're interested in watching this live and unedited, you can go to fox news now, which is on our website, fox10phoenix.com, and we'll be back here at noon. t of years... but lately, he spends so much time on tv or

i learned as a police officer and a businessman you should never abuse people's trust. unfortunately, today too many politicians either serve their party or themselves, the arizona republic called paul babeu a disgrace. babeu spent $28,000 of taxpayer money at a five-star resort and was questioned by the fbi for using public money to promote himself. o'halleran: i'm tom o'halleran, and i approve this message,
