westbound lanes of the i-10 right at the mini stack. this is a live look from the a.d.o.t. camera. you can see the flashing police lights there, the backup stretching from the mini stack all the way back to near 24th street, and here is it a picture of the crash that was sent to us by the fire department out there tonight. you could see the bikes, three of them, across the highway. all three people we are told, two men and a woman, in serious condition. a fourth person was checked out at the scene but was not taken tohe it's still a mess out there as they investigate, and a.d.o.t. asks people to avoid that area as it's not clear exactly when that highway will reopen. thank you for joining us tonight at fox 10 news at 10:00. there was a terrifying situation today on valley streets after witnesses say a man hops out of his car and opens fire on another car with a toddler in the backseat after what appears to be an act of road rage. fox 10's stefania okolie was live at that scene earlier, and she spoke with people who saw

right there when it happened. stefania? >> yeah, that's right, marc, and if you have been to this area right near 7th and mcdowell where they have plenty of shops and places to eat, you know it's a very, very populated area, especially around the time that this shooting happened. so for someone to get out of their car and pull a gun, it was very bold of them. well, two officers happened to be right inside of that chipotle and they were able to get that man in handcuffs pretty quickly, and our cameras were rolling just as they did. a road rage incident lea shooting and the suspected shooter in handcuffs appears to have no remorse. >> yep. just careless people out here. >> reporter: these eyewitnesses didn't want to show their face on camera but describe the moments the man hopped out of his car and started shooting. >> completely blank but aiming the gun, talking smack to the guy that was still driving away while he fired the second shot. >> reporter: police say the suspect was driving this veyo transportation car, got into some sort of argument with another driver and things escalated. he got out of his car and

the other driver sped off and then called 911 shortly after. one of the bullets we are told went through his back window and came close to hitting his 18-month-old child. >> so she could have got hit, i could have got hit. >> reporter: as the shooting unfolded two phoenix police officers were having lunch inside of this chipotle. they heard the shots. >> the officers stepped out of the chipotle restaurant with his weapon pointed at the shooter and told him to get out of the car and arrested him. >> reporter: yeah, certainly a terrifying situation for everyone who was in this area earlier this afternoon. now, we just learned from phoenix police that the suspect's name is nathaniel crawford. he is 23 years old. we reached out to veyo, which is a medical transportation company. the vehicle that that suspect, na thannal crawford was inside, now, they have told us in a statement that they have learned about this situation.

working to confirm the identity of the driver who was involved on their part. we are also told that they have drivers go through very extensive background checks and that part of the policy includes having no weapons inside of that car. when we get that update from them, we'll let you know and you can check for that on fox10phoenix.com. reporting live, i'm stefania okolie, fox 10 news. >> stefania, thank you. and now on to a fox 10 follow-up. investigators say that huge fire in gilbert that destroyed a condo complex was set on purpose. a reward being offered for information that leads to an arrest in this case. you can see the flames there tearing through eight buildings that were under construction right at gilbert and guadalupe roads. detectives are looking for a young man who was seen in that area wearing a maroon a.s.u. sweatshirt. damage to that complex and surrounding areas estimated at $10 million. another tragic story that we have been following, two teenagers killed in a car crash last week and a third still recovering.

them may have been impaired at the time. tonight, family and friends holding a vigil to remember those teens. marcy jones has the latest. >> from large cries to a moment of silence, more than a hundred people came to remember two lives taken too soon. the family of yohana giorgis says after losing their precious 16-year-old, they are just taking things day by day. what happened. just busy arranging everything and taking care of the family. >> yohana, her twin sister and fellow fairfax valley high school student isai slater were hit on saturday night, killing yohana and isaiah and sending bana to the hospital. students say the campus wasn't the same without the two. that's why it was so important to show up tonight at the vigil. >> both of them were well-known

spirit to people, and mostly because they are going to bring prayers for her sister also. it's a good thing to see our community coming together and just getting together to support what happened. >> now as family and friends try to cope with their great loss, many have a message for the person responsible. >> what you have done to our family hurts, to isia's family and to yohana's family. you did and it is just not fair that we lost two lives, just not fair at all. caught on camera, tempe police tweeting out video of a dramatic foot chase. this was between an officer and a burglary suspect, and as you can see this was all caught on the officer's body camera. take a look at this. on tuesday, officers responding to a call of a suspicious person near mcclintock and southern. watch the officer watching after the person, a second spotted

officer chasing that men over fences through backyards. there they go again. and he finally got that guy to the ground, got him in handcuffs, and neither one were injured. investigators say 22-year-old davone bess was the man who ran from police. they say he was wearing the victim's clothes when he was taken into custody. and neighbors from a concerned community in phoenix marched on the capitol protesting their concerns reentry facility, that provides counseling, jobs services and even substance abuse training for recently released felons. >> take this and locate it somewhere else. there's no resources for these people all the way up on pinnacle peak and i-17. once they are graduated through the program, where are they supposed to go? they are just going through a 90-day program, which is a great program. it's just in the wrong location.

protest was to petition governor ducey to move that facility. >> in phoenix, the city council approves new penalties for animal hoarding. this is video from an mcso hoarding case. people accused of hoarding animals will now face a class 1 misdemeanor. if convicted, they will have to undergo mental evaluation and have to pay restitution for the fees of any seized animals. out of a yard, dropped off later a at a park, and during that time one of the dogs was hit by a car. danielle miller explains how the dogs were reunited with their owner. >> he even tells us that they are service animals for his wife. the good news here is that both of these dogs were found, but unfortunately one of those dogs here had to be brought to animal

badly injured. >> it's like another children for us. it is very important in our life. >> eduardo quintero talking about his two shar-peis, wrinkles and cha-cha. he says the two were stolen from his front yard around 7:30 last night after a person cleaning his home accidentally left the door open. >> i said, yes, they will probably come back, probably somewhere around the house. but they didn't a of hours. >> after a frantic search for hours, he took to social media asking for help. >> we received a phone call from facebook, and the lady said she saw the same dog in the pictures over at 67th avenue and camelback. i didn't believe it. they said there was a car or a truck, small truck, old truck came and dumped the dogs early in the morning between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m., and the lady asked them, why did they come and dump

happens sunday as we get into the day here, a lot of moisture around and that will translate into cooler temperatures. 97 degrees on the high today, 93 at buckeye, 96 in scottsdale and a 95 in chandler. 96 degrees at gila bend today, 67 at the grand canyon, 82 in safford. take a look at your day, 97 on the high, 63 on the low, 87 and 63 normal high and low, record high 103, record low at 40. now forecast highs for tomorrow. we have got mid-90s this the city, some upper 90s surrounding the city, a few mid and lower 90s in there as well, 83 in sedona, 71 in flagstaff, 85 at safford and 99 degrees at gila bend. there could be some triple digits back in the desert areas. looking across the country, northwest a little bit of rain and snow. this was real tough here. youngstown in ohio picked up almost four inches of rain. flood warnings and advisories

in st. louis, 84 hundredths of an inch of rain. we have picked up a half an inch of rain down in miami. this is the big one in seattle, though, an inch and a quarter for those folks, and as you can see with the temperatures, those warm ones starting to push back a little bit, starting to recede somewhat as the cooler air finds its way through the country, 72 degrees overnight, a little heat it will continue that way for a day or so, and then by sunday we are back into the low 90s, and then we find the 80s again with that chance of rain on monday and tuesday, and as you can see here, we continue on with that 80-degree theme, in fact, even some low 80s in this forecast. watch your kids around water. thank you, dave. coming up, when you can get your hands on the latest video game console from nintendo.

in space news-- live from fox studios, fox 10 news is back. we are learning more about what happened to the european space agency's mars lander that went radio silent while landing on the red planet wednesday. today it is still not clear exactly what happened, but scientists report the lander let go of its parachute too soon, and the thrusters that were supposed to slow down the descent turned off early, so it sounds like mars planet surface there. researchers are still pouring through the data. scientists say the mission was still on track as the lander was most likely a test of landing procedures and is a second ship orbiting the planet that is in good condition. meanwhile, chinese astronauts dock and board the country's recently launched space station, their first task to plant lettuce seeds. they will stay there for
