do it again at 10:00, much more on the cardinals. but right now it's back to the news crew. fox 10 news at 10:00 starts now. and thank you for joining us for fox 10 news at 10:00. you may have noticed some social media sites were offline earlier today and even into tonight, affecting a lot of service. but it was much bigger than just those sites. this was a cyber attack that impacted millions of people across the country, and the white house says a hacker group with members in china and russia is claiming responsibility. fox 10's danielle tonight and shows us how at least one local business was affected by this attack. danielle? . >> yeah, marc, what a nightmare out here for many people today. take a look, this is the down detector.com map, showing the outages right now for netflix at this time. you can see here a lot of red in the east coast, a little bit of the yellow, a little bit of the red mixed in for the west coast, not as many outages right now as

this is the paypal map, you can see a lot of red in the east and coast coast, so definitely some problems still out there right now. so many people were affected by this attack nationally and right here in arizona. one of those companies is scott's marketplace, 7,500 business owners use this site to sell their product. today business was at a standstill. a cyber attack on the major internet routing form, dyn incorporated, which is based in new hampshire, affected a for millions of people a number of popular websites today, like twitter, netflix, and paypal. the company claims its servers were hit with what are known as distributed denial of service attacks or ddos. it basically overwhelms websites with junk data traffic. expert fear this could be a probe in advanced of a much larger attack. >> this is the first move on a chess board, whether it's a cyber crime chess board or a

unknown to me, but what's interesting is taking down these websites would allow hackers to create a fog of war while sneaking into the back door of the network. >> locally affected, scott's marketplace, the site allows businesses to sell online directly to customers. >> not only paypal, but you have square and these other payment environments that got hit, and because local small businesses utilize those environments to do their >> founder scott curry is hoping the problem is resolved quickly. >> a day like today just reinforces the priority that you have to have redundant repayment solutions, right? and not just another one but two, three, four, or five different payment solutions so that if this does happen again, you can go okay, we are going to move everybody over here. >> curry says if this goes on for days a lot of the local businesses on the site will see a dramatic economic impact.

being able to make transactions, not even for just a few days. reporting live, danielle miller, fox 10 news. danielle, thanks. the search is underway in scottsdale for a man who escaped from police custody. they say a salt river police officer was watching 27-year-old rodolfo avenue -- avalos. he was able to make his way out of the hospital even past guards. they say he carjacked a woman's silver suv near osborn and drinkwater. if you have information, don't approach him but call scottsdale police. meanwhile, in goodyear police are asking for the public's help tracking down a man who is suspected of exposing himself to teenage girls. here's a sketch of the guy police say did this last

the man is believed to be in his 40s. detectives say he drove a newer model black crossover suv, and if you recognize the man in this sketch you are being asked to call police or silent witness. in court today, former mesa police officer phillip brailsford, brailsford is facing second-degree murder charges for an on duty shooting that killed an unarmed man. it happened at the la quinta inn back in his attorneys want a new preliminary hearing so they can present evidence that will clear brailsford. the judge is expected to make a ruling in the next few weeks, the trial set for may. an man and a woman who ran an unlicensed home day care were in court today, reed and clement receiving sentences after pleading guilty to charges of

abused and killed savannah cross at that unlicensed day care, and they also say clement knew the abuse was happening and did not to stop it. both will be on lifetime supervised probation once they are released. a woman is behind bars tonight after allegedly running ore her boyfriend and another man at a north phoenix circle k overnight in north 10th avenue and hatcher. they pulled over at a circle k and got outside. at one point, one was hit with an airsoft rifle, and police say 29-year-old jenna killer ran over both men. he later died at the hospital. >> people have tempers and they

>> i feel bad for the family, give thoughts out to them and stuff, but it's a lot of stuff happening every day, a lot of stuff. i don't even bring hi nieces and nephew -- my nieces and nephew. >> meanwhile, police believe keller, the woman who ran them over, was intoxicated, and she is facing charges, including second-degree murder. a giant barbecue smoker that's part of a family business is stolen right in front of a night at 59th avenue and baseline. the smoker and trailer that were stolen are part of a family business called d.c. smokin' barbecue. the owner says it will cost around $4,000 to replace them. >> if someone is that bold to come to your house, to your property, and take something like that, it definitely sends shockwaves through your gate. that's what it did to us.

information on this case, you are being asked to call police. nasa's super guppy making a stop in the valley. that transports oversized cargo. marcy jones got a chance to go inside the plane. marcy, a lot of people stopping to take a look at the odd plane. >> some parents even told me they pulled children out of school for this special because we all know it's not a small event, it's super sized. the crew may not have had the smoothest ride into mesa gateway. >> it's warm out of there coming into the mountains, and this plane has a lot of surface area, so we get hit by thermals a little bit. >> we tried to come two months ago, when it was supposed to come, but it got cancelled because of the rain.

79 in apache junction, 76 in ahwatukee and in surprise it's 74 degrees right now. low pressure down in the southwestern portion of the state, another system pushing in, one off to the north of us, high pressure moving on out for a little bit here as we get into the weekend. this is the futurecast. you can see monday, we start seeing the moisture come rolling in. look at that stuff, and here we get late in the afternoon or early evening, and you can see we are inundated with moisture here. 97 degrees on the high today, 97 degrees in goodyear, 94 degrees in scottsdale, and 95 out at gateway. we had 81 degrees at winslow, 74 at the grand canyon. look at that, 99 degrees at gila bend, 98 at yuma, these temperatures getting close to that triple digit mark again. i wouldn't want to pull one of those back. 97 for the high, 73 for the low,

record low a 103. surrounding areas go anywhere from the upper 90s to the low 90s for you. we'll be looking at 70s across the north in some areas, and then some 80s, and then of course as we get down into the desert not only 90s but some upper 90s showing up in a few of those places as well. northwest, a little rain, a little wind, and some high elevation snow. we did pick up some very good rain across areas of the ea. they have the numbers down now because the 24 hours is up, but they had 1.81 inches in new york city. in syracuse, they had a little over two inches. as you can see here, not only are the high temperatures gone with the exception of a few here and there, we are looking at a lot of 50s, 60s, and 70s all across the country where we had been looking at 90-degree temperatures just a few days

remnants of haley's comet. . the european space agency says the mars lander crashed and possibly exploded on the red planet. scientists think that the probe suffered problems in the last 50 seconds of its descent. instead of touching down at two miles an hour, it likely hit the surface at 186 miles an hour. the thrusters that are used to slow the probe did time. >> so basically, it's reached the ground at a velocity that was much higher than it should, so several hundred kilometers per hour, and then it obviously of course was destroyed by the impact. >> so is even a catastrophe sounds good with an accent, apparently. scientists say the mission was still on track.
