talk about a scary afternoon on the i-17 today. four people were taken to the hospital after a semi truck that was hauling cattle crashed into 20 cars. this unfolded north of phoenix near black canyon city. >> marcy jones is here with more details. >> reporter: that's right, kristy and linda. drivers tell us it was terrifying to look in the rearview mirror to see the semi barreling through two lines of traffic. 13 people taken to the hospital. d.p.s. said the number could have been a lot higher. 23 cars, one semi, a few heart stopping minutes on i-17.

>> pull over, you're going to die. >> reporter: before she knew it, a semi truck was headed for her car. she tried to pull to the side then kelly and her daughter braced for impact. >> he went through everybody for another 300 feet. kelly says the scene was horrifying, something out of a movie. >> thankfully, there were few injuries above us and there were these or four helicopters medevaced people. >> reporter: the driver of the cattle hauler was unable to stop. kelly's car along with 22ers took a big hit. >> thankfully, this was it. he hit the left side, well, the right side and we went to the left. this door doesn't open. all the way through and these

always stay vigilant on the road. >> if she would have stayed where she was, the injuries to her and her daughter could be more severe. she went to the side of the road like she should have done. >> reporter: the cattle were unharmed. the stretch of i-17 is still closed. adot says it should be opening soon. we'll keep you updated. we're now seeing the man accused of causing the deadly crash near 28t cactus yesterday. according to phoenix police, 26-year-old randall nelson was impaired when he sped through a red light and pushed a car into a semi. two women were in the car, one was killed, the other badly hurt. the truck driver suffered minor injuries. a 3-year-old girl rushed to the hospital after a dresser

surprise. it happened in one of the home's bedrooms. the girl fell and the dresser ended up on top of her. when crews arrived, the girl was unconscious. the family was performing c.p.r. when crews arrived. >> it is still an active ongoing investigation. we're hoping to get to the bottom of it quickly and figure out what caused this child to be hurt. >> that little girl still in critical maricopa county sheriff deputies investigating a shooting near 312th avenue and camelback. at least one person went to the hospital. it appears there was a wedding reception at one point at this location. you see the truck there with the just married painted on the window in white. you see the white formal chairs lined up. deputies, however, have not
