there was plenty of water on the road and that caused a bit of a traffic backup here. the traffic was down to two lanes on mcdowell road and normally is that five lane road. three in one direction and two in the other and it was down to one lane on each side. they were able to shut it off around 11:00 and now they are in the process of cleaning up and fixing the fire hydrant. we were told by the city of phoenix water services department that crews will be out here for most of the day to try to replace that fire hydrant and fix the road and back moving in this area. but the good news right now is they were able to shut off that broken fire hydrant. reporting live. i'm andrew hasbun, "fox 10 news." thank you for the report out there. one person is killed after man steals an adot truck and crashes right into the side of a semi. the crash happened when a stolen state truck broadsided that semi trailer. look how the trailer is spun around there. imagine the force of that impact. the man driving the stolen truck was killed.

northbound lanes at country club. we have a crew on the way to this scene and we will bring you updates as soon as they come into the newsroom. one of the busiest intersections in the valley is shut down at this hour. we are talking about scottsdale road and shea. repaving truck struck a traffic light last night and the update this afternoon is that all northbound, east bound and westbound lanes are all blocked. southbound scottsdale is reduced to just one lane. this is a very busy part of town. this is going on eight hours now. they hoped to have it open by now. you are asked to avoid the area. police are saying it was a distracted driver who pulled out of a starbucks this morning driving this red bmw. then crashed into a motorcycle and this afternoon we learned the motorcyclist has died from his injuries. he collided at chandler and gilbert at ocotillo road there. the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time and was rushed to the hospital. again didn't survive and so it's not clear right now what charged that driver could face.

out of gas and two of them are struck while trying to push the car to the gas station. they were pushing the car around 10:30 last night or so on cactus road west of i-17. that's when police say a drunk driver smashed right into them. they were four girls. 15 to 17 years old involved with pushing the car to a gas station along the busy road. two of them were struck and critically injured. the driver of the car that hit the teens with what was not seriously hurt but will likely face charges. new at noon today, trafficking investigation results in three arrests and identifies eight victims north of the valley. yavapai county officials search the home on durango street in prescott valley after tips from concerned citizens. officials concluded eight women under the age of 22 were being hired out for sexual acts out of the home. the youngest was 17. marijuana was being grown in the house. due to the ongoing joint investigation, the names of those involved are not being

right here is a 100-year-old galapagos tortoise and been at the phoenix zoo. you know his enclosure. they feed him lettuce and stuff. when the kids were little, we went out and hung out with ralph quite a bit. he got to the zoo all the way back but this morning he was crated up and he is headed off to el paso. the phoenix zoo says they are sad to see him go but they are excited to welcome another galapagos tortoise named elvis from transfer and it will allow phoenix zoo to create a sub species of these tortoise. ralph will become a tortoise companion another animal in el paso. >> if you fine yourself drinking more alcohol these days you are not alone.
