rebound bucket. back with more sports in 20 20 minutes. here's marc martinez with fox 10 news at 10:00. fox 10 news at 10:00 starts now. >> thank you for joining us for fox 10 news at 10:00. it was a wet and windy day as those storms popped up all throughout the state today, those showers continuing off and on throughout the day. and this afternoon, parts of maricopa and is pinal county hit by a giant wall of dust. yo shot from skyfox. that was followed by a lot of rain. meanwhile, up north, even a tornado warning just east of winslow at one point this afternoon, again, a very busy weather day this here. this comes a little more than a month after the end of the 2016 monsoon season, those storms this time of year pretty rare, and tonight all over the valley people were braving the conditions, and stefania okolie was out there talking to people

ruin plans tonight. she joins us live now with the story. >> reporter: yeah, mark, people really asking themselves what's going on as arizonans say the 60-degree temperatures that came pretty much out of nowhere was not anything that they expected. however, it didn't stop them from heading out on the streets tonight. it didn't stop these folks from heading out to hear mitt romney and john mccain speak at a >> i wasn't really prepared for it. >> just a light jacket, i should have brought -- >> tonight at crescent ballroom. >> phoenix is fickle when it comes to their weather. >> a much different scene, usually busy at this time of night. the bands of rain moved throughout the valley today and left cooler air. it took some by surprise. >> it was pretty warm yesterday so i was kind of freaked out

cold. >> i think it took a lot of us by surprise. after all, last thursday we were covering hundred degree temperatures at the state fair. look at where we are now. hopefully everyone puts on a jacket and stays warm. marc? >> the first crew that came out said they had never seen anything like this, and they said the would have to bring in the -- they said they would have to bring in the forestry a crew to take care of it. >> this 80-foot tree came crashing down in the neighborhood of a that tree fell right on to the streets, some cars there as well. it was huge. but luckily it avoided homes and didn't hit anybody, but again, a huge cleanup today after the storm passed through overnight. we have been seeing the storms all day throughout the valley. let's get over to dave munsey who has been tracking the rain for us. dave, a lot o people surprised by it, because it's unusual for this time of year. >> it was unusual to get this much. it was unusual certainly to get the dust storm. we had rain in the forecast.

rain in the forecast. it came out of the south. you can still see a little bit of moisture working its way down here or way up here from the south. there's tuscon, picking up some fairly good moisture in that area, south of tuscon, almost an inch. but look at morana, 2.3 inches, inch and a half in arizona city, an inch just north of three points, near phoenix, a little authority and west of florence, 1.3 inches, pretty good amounts and the amounts go down just a little bit. but we are still seeing over an inch down by maricopa and in avondale out by apache junction .2 inches, and then .6 inches to the northwest of phoenix. as we get into the east valley, mesa, fountain hills, apache junction, they once again -- the amounts fall off just a little bit. you can see two tenths of an

lot. but south of queen creek we pick up just over an inch of rain. we'll be showing you what's going to be happening through the night tonight and what about tomorrow on the futurecast. we'll take a look at that, coming up. all right, dave. thank you. you decide 2016, arizona seemingly now a battleground state. it feels like it this election year as the fight for votes continues. democratic vice presidential candidate tim kaine back in arizona today, and he speech entirely in spanish. steve krafft has the story. >> this was a first, a campaign rally for a major party presidential candidate, in this case the democrats, and it was entirely in spanish. the language was different, spanish, but the message was the same. tim kaine, hillary clinton's running mate talking about why she's a better choice than donald trump. >> it's about our country

and asking who we are. >> kaine described trump as a danger to the country. >> trump's vision is foreboding and divisive, so today i want for you to hear directly from me that under the clinton kaine administration, there will be room for everyone in this country, for everyone. >> and he challenged latino voters, asking them, weren't you jan brewer said about you? >> recently former governor jan brewer said that she wasn't worried that her candidate, donald trump, would win arizona, because, and i quote, latinos don't get out the vote. ohhh, this is the same former governor who approved the discriminatory bill sb 1070 that promoted racial discrimination. do you think she's right?

state of arizona has one of the highest mail in ballot participation rates in the country, the law is there just in case. >> this law now is really becoming a law that really protects the rights of individuals who really enjoy the physical experience of going to a poll and casting a vote >> even those who got caught in three-hour lines during the primary elections say they are ready to try again. >> i know with previous issues earlier this year, voting lines were quite long, and so ownership committee decided that they didn't want that to be an issue. >> now, before you pop the champagne and say i'm going into work late, let me show you how it works. the polls open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. say you work 9 to 5:00 and already have three consecutive hours to work. no soup for you, you don't get

you're watching fox 10 news at 10:00. with marc martinez. a one-year-old boy from surprise is fighting for his life tonight after his father's girlfriend allegedly abused him because he was crying and wouldn't eat. police say yesterday, lizette moreno picked that boy up and threw him on the floor twice. she called 911, and the boy was flown to found severe head injuries. right now he is on life support and is not expected to survive. moreno is being charged with felony child abuse. in a developing story, new video being released in a gilbert arson case. investigators say this new footage shows two suspects in the october 15th fire that destroyed an apartment complex tht was under construction. the fire happened near gilbert and guadalupe roads. the damage to the complex and surrounding areas estimated at $10 million.

a $30,000 reward is now being offered for information that leads to an arrest. and a happy story for you tonight out of paradise valley after a police officer helps reunite a lost pup with its owner, and it turns out that owner is leandro barbosa of the phoenix suns. sergeant don bloom says he got a call about a stray dog in the area, so he took the dog back to the station, and a couple of hours we went back to the area to find out if anybody was looking for the do well, somebody recognized the two-year-old dog at barbosa's dog named maya who got lost while on a walk. >> this dog means a lot to him. he was upset and had been looking for it all day. i'm a canine handler. i love dogs. anytime you can reunite someone with a lost dog, it's always a cool thing.

your exclusive accuweather forecast with dave munsey on fox 10 news. >> well, dave, if there's ever a si heading into winter, we had it today with the cooler weather and the rain. it was kind of nice. >> yeah, you know, it was -- you could almost feel it as the rain came in. the temperature came down with it. it was really something, that cool air surrounding it was really nice. there it is, 66 degrees right now, there is no wind to speak of at this hour. still a little haze with some showers scattered around the valley. it is 62 right now in fountain

in mesa, 66 up at deer valley, and in surprise we have 64 degrees along with ahwatukee right now. you get a look at the moisture, still flowing in, still coming in from the south. you can kind of see it. yeah, it's regressing a little bit off to the east here which is where it's all going to end up. but look at that stuff, still a little batch coming through the valley, still some stuff sitting down in there. there's apache junction out there. here's mesa right in here, and as we showed you earlier, with the exception of central phoenix, picking up some pretty good amounts in the phoenix area, everything is -- has been around a quarter of an inch or maybe a little less than that, but some of these areas picking up as much as two inches down in the maricopa area, not necessarily in maricopa. there's cave creek, and you see up here, we get up to flagstaff. there's a little active weather, in fact. you see the little snow coming down just north of flagstaff, so that stuff is getting started. this is the futurecast. we get you through this evening

stuff kind of off to the east of us here, where it's going to stay. it makes a little move here early friday morning, but then it just kind of works its way out there, still very active weather as far as the east is concerned. north to south, but that stuff starts moving away from the valley, and we are going to be looking at a clearing sky. the winds are down, but you see some places still a little gusty, and here's your high on the day, 84 degrees. we had we had 82 up at deer valley and 84 out at gateway. 68 in sedona, 66 in prescott, and 53 at flagstaff, 84 in tuscon, and 90 in yuma. there we are for the day, 84 on the high, 64 on the low, 81 and 58 normal high and low, record high 96, record low at 36. take a look at what's going on across the country here. all of our moisture, moisture
