lopez fled the country to avoid arrest. he will appear before a judge later this month. thank you for that update tonight. the man accused of killing a show low police officer is dead. 36-year-old daniel erickson was accused of shooting and killing officer darren reid. they caught up with erickson in a cabin where he h himself with a 15-year-old girl. there was a seven hour standoff but erickson was shot and killed after an exchange of gunfire with the s.w.a.t. team that girl was unharmed and as you are seeing in in this video police are lining the street during the procession of officer reid's body. >> just so heart breaking. just extremely sad, sad situation. >> just pray for his family and wish them the best. >> officer reid was 50 years old and had been with the show low police department for the last

retiring recently. a suspect in a deadly double shooting in west phoenix surrenders to police. 26-year-old giovanni is facing first degree and attempted murder charges. he has beeny leased on bail. police say. two men were found shot near 67th avenue and van buren. espeno died and hernandez suffered serious injuries. espeno's wife told police her husband and to steal marijuana from another plan and then espeno demanded his share of the money before he was shot. and an inmate escaped custody this morning has been recaptured. 25-year-old michael hoffmann kicked out the back of a transport van and then he took off. but mcso deputies say they were able to capture him this afternoon and he was serving a nine month sentence for aggravated assault involving an incident with his girlfriend at

by now you probably know there is a new sheriff in town. democrat paul penzone unseats long time maricopa county sheriff joe arpaio in last night's election this was kind of a stunner. a bitter defeat for the self-proclaimed toughest sheriff in america who was seeking 7th term in office. we caught up with sheriff joe arpaio today and here is what he told our andrew hasbun. >> it was a great ride. have nothing to hide. when i go home and i mirror, i have nothing to hide. i'm very proud and i have a great wife and kids. grand kids. >> sheriff arpaio is facing trial in december on criminal contempt charges. for violating a judge's order to stop immigration sweeps. now here is what hillary clinton had to say last week about arpaio and donald trump during a rally at asu. >> his top adviser on

chanting not my president while marching. a lot of them joined a protest outside of the arizona capitol. many people who have work permits had been exempt from deportation are now concerned. >> i grew up here, my family is here. i don't know any other place to be my home. so just thinking about uprooting my entire life and it's definitely not a pleasing thought. >> definitely people think that they can definitely be deported was going to happen and a lot of our community members are scared. >> in california, students in berkeley and oakland sat in front of their schools refusing to go back inside. back here in arizona voters rejected prop 205. that's the ballot measure that would have legalized personal amounts of recreational marijuana for adults 21-older in our state. but across the country tonight proponents of pot are celebrating victory.

most of the attention last night was on the presidential election, voters in eight states approved pro marijuana ballot measures including vote for legalization in california, massachusetts and nevada. a similar initiative in maine looks to pass. marijuana advocate says this is just the latest in a string of victories for their cause. what happened here tonight is a punctuation point and a firm direction of what the future will look like not only country. >> the new state joined four others and the district of columbia in legalizing pot for recreational use advocates say continuing criminalization only wastes law enforcement resources and denies the public badly needed funds that could come from taxing pot sales. >> it's about time. it's been probation. market has been there. but it's time for it to be legit and it's time for we are regulated and it's time for that

you got a 33-mile-per-hour gust down in nogales and up in globe 13 miles per hour gust. and not as bad as it has been. we are little bit on the warm side today at buckeye 82 degrees. we had 84 in glendale. 84 in scottsdale and 82 at gateway. other numbers that we have, 68 in payson. 59 in flagstaff. and 90 degrees today at yuma and -- and the 70-degrees down in tucson. temperature will do the same thing. dropping off into the low 60s for you by morning. and look at these other numbers, 56 up in fountain hills. 56 degrees in surprise. 59 in ahwatukee. so we do have some 50-degree temperatures out there. in fact there is our normal low for this time of year at 55 degrees. 68 last night so we are warm on the low and we are little high on the high. you can see 85, 79 would be the norm.
