the dorms have been mopped up and the leak is fixed. students can't go back in the rooms until they dry out and that could take a week or so. bill montgomery responding to reports about the freeway shooting case. bill montgomery said that evidence merritt jr.'s gun and they say the tests were done wrong. they did a pair of tests and both concluded that the bullets could not be linked to merritt's weapon. experts often don't reach the same conclusions even though they have the exact same evidence. >> this report is not new. this report does not raise any questions that were not previously take into account and

crews started building a new overpass at bell road and grand back in april. the overpass will carry bell road traffic over grand. after seven months of construction work, the overpass is scheduled to open tuesday ahead of schedule. adot says the new interchange will reduce traffic delays caused by freight trains using the tracks along grand. more students walking out of colleges across the country protesting donald trump's election for president for what they say is bad treatment of minorities and illegal immigrants. turkey's president is criticizing the protests saying that everyone should let him show how he is going to govern. donald trump is eyeing ted cruz as the next attorney general. imagine that.

they are laying down plywood to prevent the trench from caving in. they have 2x4's or 2x6's that are using as a lever to get a pulley to pull them out. the man is able to communicate with rescue crews and, apparently, he is in good shape. we're also hearing this could take time to get him out of there. >> in terms of a trench it could take three to four hours before they are able to hoist him out. a lot of times, the air quality. you never know what has fallen on top of him in terms of dirt or anything else. we're waiting on more information on that. air quality is a big issue when you're considering a trench rescue and whether or not how many people are involved in having to go down there and help in that effort.

cars. temps today, look at those clouds. this is exciting. we don't get a lot of cloud cover it seems this time of the year but we've got them today. this indicates that cold front, of course, has been moving toward us all night long. now, it is starting to push its clouds here during the daytime hours. 76 degrees at sky harbor. as we push our way into the afternoon hour, we're going to be well passed the 75. not quite to the record that is it all changes tonight. we'll see skies break up as the coolest air settles in and this front will have swung passed up. the clear air behind it will settle in and we'll be in for a really, really nice thursday. a beautiful thursday, really. here is how things stand. now, we've got this cool stuff waiting in the wings. it will move over us, unfortunately, the low that is driving all of this weather is going to track to the north of us.

for the middle of the u.s. seems like autumn hasn't settled in anywhere across the country. we do have showers and thunderstorms across new england. not only is our weather going to be great tomorrow but we have a big weather changer on the way as we move into next weekend. this low, boy, it is tightly wound storm system. it is going to be cruising its way along the west coast and tracking near arizona. it is going to pack a bit of a going to be a cool one in the valley with a chance for thunderstorms and perhaps good snow up in the high country and that wold be nice. off we go into your forecast and it looks like this. today, we'll call it 80. there is that beautiful 71. 77 on your friday. look at monday, 63 with a chance for showers and thunderstorms.

a minnesota police officer is charged with second- degree manslaughter... after a police officer charged with second-degree manslaughter after prosecutors determined he acted unreasonably when he shot and kill a black man. his griffin -- girlfriend streamed the shooting on facebook. he asked him several times during a traffic reaching for his i.d. after telling the police officer he had a permit for the gun. carrie fisher revealed that princess leia's romance with hans solo in "star wars" extended offscreen. she waited quite a bit of time to kiss and tell. fisher tells people magazine that she had an intense affair with harrison ford.
