now. >> you cannot arrest me until i know you have a warrant. >> hey! >> hey! >> hey, you can't hit a girl like that. good evening everyone. thanks for joining us. tonight we are hearing from the woman who was punched in the face, and we are seeing the video taken by the officer's body camera. this happened in flagstaff. >> except the camera was only punch, the body camera, not when the punch happened. stefania okolie has been looking into it. she joins us live tonight with the story. stef? >> reporter: kari and john, the department are looking into it. they admit they are very shocked by the video but say the investigation must be completed, both for the rights of the woman involved and the officer. now we are seeing body camera video that the flagstaff police department had.

all righty, well, it looks like we are having trouble getting that video. john and kari, we do see we had two sides from that video. we are told that the officer did not have his body camera on during the incident. he was about and had it turned off. >> hopefully we can get that. >> the video is really interesting, and as you said, there may be more going on than meets the eye, which sometimes happens in these cases, oftentimes happens, so we'll get it to you when we get it. three officers attacked by an inmate in florence. officers were treated at the hospital, the prison investigating tonight.

face new charges. the man representing jodie arias's killer is facing new problems after the state bar determined he violated attorney-client confideia in a book he wrote about the case. his suspension is not a done deal yet. it still has to be approved by a judge. as for jodie arias, she can still object to the terms of whatever they come up with. very scary moments for firefighters as they battle big flames and a lot of smoke at a metal recycling plant just west of downtown phoenix. skyfox was over the scene at 35th avenue and broadway. at one point during this

collided with a ladder truck, and the firefighters in the bucket were tossed around. pretty scary. thankfully those firefighters were not hurt. >> crane operator was concentrating on the metal not paying attention to an 80-foot ladder truck to the left of him, and he actually struck that ladder truck with his crane. that crew was rocked back and forth. luckily for us, it was a near miss. i mean, that's a near miss for us. >> it's not clear yet how that fire started. on to a developing story, maricopa county sheriff's body was found at the river bottom in the west valley, near 67th and southern avenue in laveen. few other details have been released and it's not clear how long that body might have been there. last night we told you about the surge of illegal immigrants coming into the u.s. illegally in the rio grand texas area. we are told that 100 border patrol agents have been sent

recent surge. data from u.s. customs and border protection show a nearly 90% increase in women and children coming into the u.s. illegally over the past two years. two thirds of the border apprehensions are happening in that rio grand area. tuscon agents have been sent to help. the border patrol says sending tuscon agents to texas will not affect our border security here. >> now here to do, so through training and through different technology, we cannot replace the agent but have a situational awareness and focus on what we need to do. >> the agents involved will stay longer if so needed. are you looking for work? well, the place to be is the trump tower in new york city. the president elect continues to shape out his upcoming administration, and today he made his pick for national

chose lieutenant general michael flynn, the former defense intelligence agency chief has been a rabid critic of president obama's foreign policy. no word on whether flynn will accept the job. the team continues to deny that there are any problems in the transition and they say that it is going smoothly. several other political players visited the trump tower today, including former secretary of state henry kissinger as well as sitting governors nikki and rick scott. after a short delay, skiers hope to hit the snow bowl slopes tomorrow. they hope to open the grand canyon express, the lift, tomorrow at 1:00 in the afternoon. they have to make snow overnight. the resort planned to open last week but warmer temperatures delayed making snow. and speaking of snow, is there some in the forecast perhaps? >> let's hope so. that would be great. >> dave munsey is here with a look at the weather around the

cooler today. there we go. the temperatures are definitely down here. you see the warnings, those are all freeze warnings that we have around the state, and you can see they kind of reach up around and in some of the areas where we have the ski resorts. take a look here as we zoom in. everything in this shot is below freezing, we have look at window rock, 13 overnight, 19 at winslow, 17 at flagstaff, 31 up at page. down here they are not the freezing temperatures, but very near freezing temperatures, some of them up a little bit too much for the freeze. but you get down to 34, there's a chance there. there's a chance in douglas. we go to the midsection of the state here, and we have prescott with 24 degrees overnight and 32 right at the freeze mark in payson, so you can see those

questions to be answered than my immediately response. >> reporter: the department obviously trying to figure out whether or not the use of force was necessarily. meanwhile, the officer in question is on paid leave at home. it turns out there was no warrant out for her arrest and it had already been taken of and the officer didn't know. she is now facing two charges, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on an officer. we'll k issue. >> still ahead tonight at 9:00, a disgusting discovery, a valley woman claims she found a human bone in some trail mix that she bought at a valley store. it's a story that's all new tonight at 9:00. the bald eagle population here in arizona is soaring to new heights with more bald eagles here in the state than ever before. i'm danielle miller. coming up, we'll show you what the game and fish department is doing to save the population.

bald eagles ever before. that's according to the arizona game and fish department. >> the amount of breeding pairs in the state has sky rocketed in recent years. fox 10's danielle miller tonight doing to keep the population is- safe. >> back in the early 1970s, we knew of four breeding areas across arizona, and we have been working ever since then to try to grow this population in arizona. >> and that's exactly arizona game and fish department is doing since developing a program a few years ago that aims to protect bald eagles. the population here in the state is soaring to new heights. >> as of the last year, in 2016, we had 65 pairs of breeding bald eagles in the state, so 135 breeding birds, and that's not including the young ones that haven't reached maturity, five years of age when they are old

with the arizona game and fish department, kenneth jacobson, says many things have been done to restore the population, things like nest watching. >> it gives us a chance to step in and intervene and give them a second chance, if nestlings fall out of the nest or a windstorm blows the nest of the tree. we can come back, rebuild the nest, put the nest back and the adults still have a chance to be successful that year. >> they can be found pretty much anywherehe water around the state, and the game and fish department is saying they are even seeing the eagles nest at higher elevations, saying the highest concentrations are near the salt and verde rivers. >> that's historically been the case just because of the habitat and prey that are available. >> they say the bald eagle population diminished with the use of d.d.t. which is a form of

he said this led to widespread reproductive failures and the pair made a breeding recovery. >> when we talk about a pair of bald eagles, we are talking about a male and a female bonded together in the breeding season to have offspring, and here in arizona that breeding cycle starts generally in december. >> as the population continue to flourish, the game and fish department will continue ensuring breeding is successful. >> throughout the breeding season, we will climb into the nest, band the nestlings with a unique identifier band on their legs. anytime we see that bird again, we'll know the lineage, how old it is, how long it's been in the area. >> this will lead to many more bald eagles in the state for many more generations of people to enjoy. >> last year, where we had a really good productivity year, that means five years from now,

fox 10 news. hi, everybody. yeah. look at that, 63 degrees, temperatures continue to drop across the valley. right now we have 60 degrees in scottsdale, 56 degrees in fountain hills, 53 degrees up in cave creek, 61 still in the glendale area. so the cold front passing on through, bringing in the breezy and the cool weather. that seems to have worked. it continues, as a matter of fact, through to change, freeze warning is on. we showed you this earlier with some of those numbers. there are a lot of temperatures below the freeze mark, and this is what the highs today looked like as they come down a little bit as well. at 72 degrees in sky harbor, the norm for this time of year is in the mid-70s. we get 71 in scottsdale, 70 in chandler, and in buckeye we come up with a 70-degree reading as well.

the 57 up in sedona, 45 in flagstaff, 43 at the grand canyon, 72 in gila bend, 71 in tuscon, and a 73 in yuma today. all over the state temps coming down. look at these forecast lows for tonight. the norm would be in the mid-50s. we are going to be at 49 here, and you can see some 43s, some 41s, even a 47 out there. that's out at apache junction. this is the way it looked today, early in the day a 56, late in the day 72, high and low. there's your record high at 87, your record low at 37. we do get to the freeze mark occasionally. the forecast for tomorrow, we bring the temps up a little bit. we'll bring them past the norm in some areas, some areas would be right on it, with a 75 forecast up in cave creek. taking a look the rest of the state here, forecasting 61 at payson, 53 at winslow, 55 at st. john's, bullhead city at 70,

across the country, well, you can see something moving in here, and we'll see that. this stuff right here is just going to continue to move along into the great lakes over the next couple of days here. temperature wise you can see a demarcation line, cold air moving in on this warmer air. yep, there are still some 80s hanging around out there. this is the futurecast. we put this guy into motion to show this system pushing across the country. you're going to see that, and then also i wanted to this. this is going to be late sunday into monday. this system is going to find arizona, and there is some moisture with this if we keep the temperatures down, yep, we could see some snow. there is some in the forecast. 49 overnight, and then 77 degrees for tomorrow with those crisp nights and beautiful days. 80s as we go through the weekend, and 60s right after the weekend, and there's thanksgiving at 74. watch your kids around water. >> thanks, dave. he is calling it a public

valley woman was expecting when she ate a handful of trail mix that she had just purchased from a local store. >> the woman claims that she bit down on something so hard, she broke her teeth, and the woman now believes it was a human bone, possibly a piece of a knuckle. >> danielle miller joins us with this bizarre story. you saw it, right? >> absolutely, guys, and obviously a crazy story, if in fact this truly is a human knuckle bone. now, this woman claims she was eating this trail mix this sunday when this happened. she says she bought local walmart. she is now wanting the company to pull it from the shelves because she says that she is a hundred percent certain that it is a human knuckle bone. >> they shouldn't contain that only contains maybe some shells. they should also put in there that it may contain body parts. >> connie talking about this great value mountain view trail max that she says she bought at a walmart on stapley november 8th.

camera video, the flagstaff police department says they have more questions than answers. >> hey! >> reporter: the cell phone video taken by a witness shows flagstaff officer jeff bonar swinging on 31-year-old marissa morris. the officer's body camera video shows the aftermath. >> she's under arrest either way. >> no, i'm not! i'm not either under arrest either way. i didn't do nothing wrong. >> reporter: that's because it wasn't on when things got physical, and according to sergeant c of the arrest after it was posted online. officers were serving an eviction notice. officer bonar had his body camera on when he first arrives but the department says he then turned it off when he was no longer needed and about to leave. that's when he spotted marissa. before he confronts her about what he says is a warrant for her arrest, he doesn't turn the camera back on. >> this cop said you are under arrest for a warrant, and i said you cannot arrest me without me
