in the groin. the woman is denying that. tonight's civil rights leaders are demanding answers in this case. andrew hasbun with this story from flagstaff. >> reporter: civil rights leaders and the victim are calling for for police officer to be fired and they plan to ask for a federal investigation. the video shows flagstaff officer hitting 30-year-old marissa morris in the face. now, she wants him fired. >> he deserves it because anybody in any other workforce would be fired if they hit anybody. >> reporter: morris was joined by city rights leader who demanded a thorough investigation. >> what kind of man can punch this woman in the face? if this was any one of us as a citizen, we would be in jail for an assault charge. just because your an officer, doesn't mean you're allowed to assault somebody. reporter: the officer is on

the city investigates. he was helping with an eviction when the situation escalated. some of the aftermath was caught on the officer's body camera but the body camera was turned off when the incident happened. >> we have one of the biggest examples of police brutality in our state. >> reporter: she has a message for flagstaff p.d. >> do their jobs like they would with anybody else. they should take it i hands and do what they were hired, protect us, not hurt us. >> reporter: as part of their investigation, the flagstaff police department says they will be looking at why the officer turned off his body camera. in flagstaff, i'm andrew hasbun, fox 32 news. a man pleads guilty of aggravated assault after running down a valley veteran with his car.

wow, this is quite some scene that gives you a look at the brawl outside early tuesday morning. you see four men throwing punches but another man gets into his car and jumps a sidewalk and slams into two men who were fighting. he crashed into a window of the bad monkey bar. police are searching for the person who got behind the wheel because >> the multiple alarm fire that breaks out in california. look at the flames reported as early as 3:00 this morning. 60 firefighters from 18 engine companies tried to get this under control. no injuries reported, no structures threatened. the cause is unknown. the track is up here but the train is down here nearly 20

a commuter train slamming into a milk truck northeast of amsterdam. the front carriage of the train derailed near an unmanned train crossing. 11 people taken to the hospital, including the truck driver of the milk truck. the cause the being investigated. in the health watch tonight, heart disease is the number one killer of americans, according to the centers of control after that is heart disease, stroke, chronic respiratory disease and accidents. preventible deaths rose 24% in four years due to drug poisoning and falls. they received criticism because of their unhealthy food options and big changes in the future to mcdonald's. they are installing kiosks to

multicar crash in the east valley. it looks like half a dozen vehicles are involved in this collision on the us-60 near mill avenue in the westbound lanes. emergency crews and state troopers are on the scene there. as you can see, it is a big mess out there. traffic is slowly being allowed to pass by. let's take a live look at the freeway here from adot camera. it is not getting any better. traffic barely some of it looks like it is continuing on the us-60. you can see a huge mess for all of the commuters heading open tonight. it is unclear how many people were hurt in that accident. a number of the vehicles that we saw from sky fox are heavily damaged. hopefully, you're not stuck in that tonight. phoenix police officer

the two were involved in an altercation. the officer did not have to go to the hospital for treatment. we'll have an update for you on fox 32 news 9:00 and 10:00. the coldest morning in the valley in several months. a lot of people bundling up with sweaters. it was a cold day in the high country but not cold enough, according to snowbowl. warm for making snow. hoping to open tomorrow morning. dave munsey joins us with a look at the forecast. >> reporter: there is a lot going on as far as the weather is concerned. if you look across the country here, cold weather found its way in arizona but across a lot of the country today. as we get a look at what is going on, you can see the snow across minnesota.
