meals to families across the valley who couldn't leave their homes. >> phoenix is an awesome city in so many ways, but most importantly it is a caring, passionate, loving community. i am blown away by the love being shown be i the salvation army volunteers. whether it's traveling to see the family or watching a parade and feasting at home, many americans are finding their own way to be thankful on this >> despite security threats, crowds lined the streets of new york city for the thanksgiving day parade, using bomb sniffing dogs to make sure that everybody had a good time and more importantly a safe time. >> with the climate being the way it is right now, it is a little nerve-wracking. i am getting messages from my family to michigan to be careful. >> this is a tradition, you

again for everyone. rob schmidt, fox news. >> valley crews trying to figure out what caused a fire in gilbert, the flames seen coming from the scene near guadalupe. >> the attic is collapsing in on itself as the fire kind of eats through that at this point. we are in the defensive posture. we don't put firefighters in at this point because it's unsafe for them to be in there. >> one person smoke inhalation. an off-duty maricopa county sheriff's deputy and his wife are rushed to the hospital after being hit by a gun in cave creek. they were walking near a popular restaurant called harold's corral when they were hit overnight. we are told that the woman was life-threatening injuries. the deputy is in serious condition. the driver stayed at the scene. investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in that crash. a mesa man has been arrested. he's accused of setting a d.p.s.

least trying to. the man was spotted by d.p.s. troopers who were eating lunch right near broadway and dawson. they say he opened up a gas tank and lit newspaper on fire. luckily that fire did not ignite, but he has been booked for felony arson. the buffalo chip saloon burned to the ground on thanksgiving morning last year. fox 10's nicole garcia shows us what it looks like now. >> rep firefighters and the owner of the buffalo chip saloon in cave creek watched as the iconic restaurant went down in flames. investigators say it was arson. >> my first inclination was just to kind of walk away, because, you know, if someone burns your that you're not wanted. >> reporter: but the community rallied together, showering the owner and the employees with support. the buffalo chip had been part of this town for more than

strike. costa ricans are monitoring otto for days and thousands were ordered to evacuate their homes along the caribbean coast. this woman says homes in her neighborhood are unsafe, so she joined many otherses at this shelter looking for fresh water, food, and a safe place to sleep. it's a similar scene just to the north in nicaragua, storm trackers predicting otto will move across the southern part of the country and the pacific. though it's expected to weaken, public safety officials warning of the possibility of flooding and mudslides. a man who places flags on top of valley mountains to honor ur veterans says those flags are disappearing. andrew hasbun has that story tonight. >> phoenix has been named one of the top ten fooddy destinations worldwide. a look at the automobile action this weekend at the phoenix convention center, some

happy thanksgiving, everybody. hope you had a great day and it's turning out to be a pretty nice night out there, a little bit on the chilly side but not too bad. we are at 63 degrees right now with some light winds out of the west at six miles an hour. taking a look at our satellite and radar right now, you can see we don't have much going on over state where we are in the southwest, but take a look at parts of the pacific and northern california. it will drop our temperatures because this is a very fast moving pacific low-pressure system, this cold front making its way on in, and what it's going to do is drag moisture in from the northwest, some of this cooler air, into the south, and that is going to be impacting pretty much most of our state as we take a look at the temperatures in the ten-day forecast. right now, temps are definitely cooling down, 63 for us, 42 in

over in window rock, nogales at 55, gila bend at 52, yuma at 64. here in the valley right now goodyear at 63 degrees right now, 70, glendale, the warm spot for us there on the map, 58 in deer valley, 68 over in fountain hills, 68 in apache junction, 62 down for you in maricopa. taking a look at our record for today, we were at 77, and that is above normal by five degrees. our high record was set back in 1950. that was as our overnight lows, right where we should be for this time of year, and it was a nice turkey day for you. if you are already full, i'm sorry to show you this again, but think about the leftovers for tomorrow. 74 our high, a beautiful thanksgiving day, a lot of people having meals on the patio because the weather was good enough for it. a few active storms moving their
