them. >> reporter: we posted this video on our fox 10 facebook page if you want a closer look. ty brennan, fox 32 news. three people hurt after a head-crash near daisy mountain. two people taken to the hospital, seriously injured. one of them with minor injuries. daisy mountain fire is looking into the cause of the a robot destroyed a suspicious package in a parking garage. >> police were called to the scene near fourth avenue and adams. turns out there was nothing dangerous inside. police are still investigating. we know the name of the surprise police officer who shot and killed a man. he is officer joseph grover. saturday morning, he responded

encountered a 20-year-old. there was an alter investigation, the officer fired one shot, the suspect drove away, hit a parked car and died a short time later. the officer was treated and released. he is on paid leave, which is standard. police are trying to figure out how a 20-year-old man died. his body was found in a lake near arizona avenue a drive. he was reported missing last monday. investigators are trying to peace together what happened. the christmas tree at the top of camelback mountain has become a tradition for one group but they are being told don't bring the tree up the mountain this year. >> reporter: this is a tradition that has been going on for 15 years. people bringing up a tree to

cost $600 and weighed 200 pounds. it took teams rotating hours to carry it up camelback. it is a festive treat for people to hike to the top of the mountain and see it. they are dismayed that the parks and recreation cut the tree in half and hauled it back down the they have never had problems before so they can't understand the opposition now. >> a tradition that has been going for more than 15 years. there has never been an issue. no one said a word. i have to fathom that the parks and rec service has been there in the last four years. the tree has been on top of the mountain for weeks at a time. camelback santa is out there handing out candy canes for

a fox 10 weather alert. the day started with clouds. sky fox flying with the view. the storm system that moved through bringing a lot of snow to the high country. this is some of the flakes that have fallen in flagstaff. the first full fledged snowstorm of the flagstaff area brought 5 inches of snow. wintry weather invading much of the high country. flagstaff schools had delay. a winter weather advisory into today. >> state route 64 closed near the grand canyon because of snow and ice. the winter weather making for house -- hazardous driving conditions. most of the roads are snow

>> reporter: you can see the front is making its the state here so we still have that cold front pushing through, breezy conditions, of course, snow coming down. 9 inches at snowbowl. 4 inches at greer. show low picks up an inch but that storm system is moving into that area and there's still more to come for that. you can see here the city being left alone north of us a little bit of active weather all the way into the flagstaff area. you take a look at the show low area that is where they picked up one inch. there is more going on at this time. as far as rainfall, not that much, really. you can see .2 of an inch, .4 of an inch next to phoenix. more than an inch south or at an inch south of town. we con with a freeze warning out

nine people injured in an nine people injured in a terrible attack at ohio state university. >> this began as an active shooter call that is what they thought originally. the suspect was shot to death. marc martinez joins details on this. information at first, was so off but we find out this was a car and a knife. >> reporter: we're learning more information tonight. ohio state police say the attacker purposely drove the car that john was talking about over the curb into a group of pedestrians, a group of students standing outside and got out of the carry an started slashing people with a butcher knife. the ohio state university is a sprawling campus. the attack happened right there

we are told it is the material science, and engineering building. the university sent out a series of tweets saying there was an active shooter on campus and students should run, hide, or fight. a shelter in place warning had be lifted and the scene was secure. it does not appear that a suspect used a gun. he used those people. the suspect began to strike people with the car. there is no indication that the suspect shot anyone. nine people were taken to the hospital, eight of them is in stable condition, one is critical. >> you never think this is going to happen. it is mind blowing. the most tragic thing you can imagine happening to a school, especially after a big weekend like we just had and

this is crazy. >> reporter: classes were canceled for the rest of the day and will resume tomorrow. police identified the attacker as abdul razak ali artan, a somali-born legal resident of the united states. he was a student at the school. no word on a motive. the ohio state university is one of the largest universities with nearly 60,000 students in columbus. marc hundreds of people gather in san antonio to pay their final respects to a fallen police officer. benjamin marconi gunned down more than a week ago while writing a traffic ticket outside of the san antonio police headquarters. the man responsible for the attack, according to police, 31-year-old otis mccain is in

41 down in maricopa. this is the way the day went. 47 for the morning low. 57 for the afternoon high. 70 and 48 would be your normal high and low. there is your record high at 46 and record low at 32. forecasting these highs for tomorrow, 60 degrees. lots of 60's. wickenburg, 59. 58 at cave creek. 33 at the grand canyon. forecasting 63 at gila bend. take a look at what we're looking at across the country. this is a pretty big storm system in here. it is going to be moving into the northeast as it rolls along. there is pretty good snow in a few different places depending on the time of day. all of that turns back to rain again. the backside of it, you see minnesota with rain, north dakota with snow behind it and a few inches at that.

the valley buying christmas gifts. there are a few people left over from the groundbreaking thing that happened today. park central mall, holiday poscy with sheriff joe arpaio and volunteers kicking off today. this is the 23rd year for this program. it provides extra security to shopping malls tax free. there are 300 people who work with the sheriff's department. all of the freedom are volunteers. they will be patrolling eight of the valley. sheriff joe credits the uniformed officers, patrol cars, k-9 units for the low crime rates at the shopping centers in the valley. it will be sheriff joe's final year to preside over the program. >> these are my volunteers, however, they serve under the sheriff and they are well trained.
